American Values -- Editorial Cartoon by Andrew Wahl

Not "American" but rather U.S. values

Come on Andy Wahl and other "progressives", this cartoon should read "Somewhere in Guantanamo, lessons in United State's (or U.S.) values continue..." "America" is a very big place, two continents North and South, with dozens of countries. As far as we know, only one country that is American is involved in torture in Guantanamo, not all of them. Language matters. Progressives should be aware of the arrogance of using the word America for the United States. Another example, there is no such thing as the American flag. There exists, however, the flag of the United States of America. I highly recommend reading José Marti's book, "Our America" for some much needed perspective. José Martí was killed in battle with Spanish troops at the Battle of Dos Ríos on May 19, 1895.
