BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

While it has been said "guns don't kill people, people kill people," it should be said, "people who carry guns, kill people with those guns"!

Is this why gays are not welcome in the Military??? Are Christian Fundamentalists dictating military policy and keeping gay American citizens out of the military for "religious" reasons? Is this why "gays" have been banned, is this why gays have to hide their identity in the "don't ask, don't tell" world of American Armed Forces? The "enemy" within is becoming more and more relevant in today's world -- has Christian fundamentalism infiltrated every aspect of the American military and American society to become the American Taliban?

If there is such a thing as the "anti-Christ," if one truly believes in an anti-Christ, then there must be thousands upon thousands of them, because it's obvious a whole lot of people claiming to be Christians in this country aren't practicing the edicts Jesus came and taught. Thinking about the Ten Commandments -- Thou shalt not lie, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods, etc. etc. etc.! All things that many who claim to be Christian including the Repuglicans have not paid any attention to whatsoever! In fact, the Repuglicans tell lies to steal elections, and along the way Repuglican aduterers, Repuglicans having an extra-marital affair protest the loudest regarding everyone else's extra-marital affairs. Correct me if I'm wrong the Repuglicans with their lies and all the back-biting fairy tale stories, they make up are certainly showing how much they covet the majority in Congress and the Presidency of the United States! Repuglicans act more like gang-lords fighting turf wars than Representatives of the people doing the people's business!

"According to a new WSJ/NBC poll, 'support for President Barack Obama's health-care effort has declined over the past five weeks, particularly among those who already have insurance.' Among those with private insurance, the proportion calling the plan a bad idea rose to 47 percent from 37 percent." There comes a time when stubborn people get exactly what they deserve, but by all that's holy, the rest of us don't want them taking us down too. Obviously when health insurance costs more than groceries and rent put together, the insurance is out of whack, obviously America has long needed reform. For God's sake don't let this opportunity for healthcare reform pass us by!

"TVNewser has learned that Dobbs' outside publicists pitched The O'Reilly Factor producers for the CNN host to appear on Fox News." Walter Cronkite they aren't -- the "news" has become 24/7 trash talk!

"...what are the objections of the Blue Dogs?... they talk a lot about fiscal responsibility, which basically boils down to worrying about the cost of those subsidies... it's tempting to stop right there, and cry foul..... where were those concerns about fiscal responsibility back in 2001, when most conservative Democrats voted enthusiastically for that year's big Bush tax cut -- a tax cut that added $1.35 trillion to the deficit?" "Blue Dogs" and/or otherwise, it is the ultimate hypocrisy when Representatives and Senators of the United States of America, those who have the very best in healthcare insurance, have the audacity to deny the American people!

Too bad, really, that this doesn't spell the end of Sarah Palin! Frankly her beef with the "press" is bogus; everytime she opens her mouth we hear about "Sarah Palin," so much so that just hearing her name is nauseating! The last thing America needs is a female version of George W. Bush.

Jon Stewart gets my vote for "most trusted newscaster in America," as well as "the most trusted man in America"! We learn more from him in a 4-night/30-minute broadcast than we get from the 24/7 non-stop blather we get day in and day out from the dittohead teleprompter readers posing as newscasters, anchors, analysts, pundits, and non-expert experts. Thank you Jon from the bottom of our hearts for making "freedom of the press" actually truthful and free.

Just in case you may be wondering why and how America managed to get into the worst financial condition since the big Depression! "UNDER THE RADAR -- Executives and other highly compensated employees now receive more than one-third of all pay in the U.S., according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of Social Security Administration data -- without counting billions of dollars more in pay that remains off federal radar screens that measure wages and salaries -- "And then to add insult to injury" -- From 2002 to 2007, earnings for American workers rose 24 percent, but the highest-paid saw a 48 percent increase. -- Kevin Drum noted, "in other words, the executives got a 48% increase, the rest of us got approximately nothing." The disparity between upper echelon and the workers looks like we're back to legalized slave labor. Greed in America is unconscionable.

Warning if you don't like some off-color references, don't read any further! One more thing that can be said for Walter Cronkite that cannot be said for any of today's celebrity Pete and RePete teleprompter reading news anchors, Walter Cronkite certainly had some balls -- he told the truth no matter what, he was an honest man with a truckload of integrity! He didn't care who and/or what he exposed with the truth -- We have been too often disappointed by the optimism of the American leaders, both in Vietnam and Washington, to have faith any longer in the silver linings they find in the darkest clouds. . . . "For it seems now more certain than ever that the bloody experience of Vietnam is to end in a stalemate. . . . To say that we are closer to victory today is to believe, in the face of the evidence, the optimists who have been wrong in the past" -- Walter Cronkite, CBS Evening News, February 27, 1968." If only cloning were legal, because America could really use a whole lot of Walter Cronkites!
