Birds and Words of Prey
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
Buzz Flash,
What are words worth? Thousands upon thousands of innocent lives.
In just a few weeks, we Americans have been witness to, day after day,
watching our Congress discuss, talk, argue, and then more talk, not about the war in Iraq costing over a million lives, and not about the invasion of Afghanistan, but about the cost of saving American lives with decent and moral healthcare.
Yes, still invading and occupying Afghanistan because of bin Laden, who, by the way, just in case many Americans don't remember, had about 20 (?) or more followers living in the caves along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan . . . the U.S. military, had just about the same reasoning for invading that country as they, Bush/Cheney's military, had for invading Iraq . . . "NO REASON." These two countries were no threat to the U.S. We were not defending ourselves from them. The Bush Administration knew about those men who took down the planes on 9/11, and we read about them, where they were for months before 9/11 took place.
This country was invading other countries and killing innocent people, using the youth, moms, and dads of this country to do so . . . under the direction of the Bush GOP regime. And, what is most surprising, and most maddening, is that we are still at this deadly game of killing people . . . the only changes
seen, after the last eight years, would be that the US (that's us), because of the Bush/Cheney regime, has many more enemies today. Enemies, who hate us because we killed their friends and families, all blamed on 911, when Bush/Cheney had three months of warnings and failed to warn the airlines and the American people. Why are we not seeking accountability for that?
When will we Americans stop living in denial. I think every time the Christmas holiday and all of the other holidays that roll around at this time of year . . .
hypocrisy is the real name of the game. I thought by this time, this year, that the Bush GOP would be a thing of the past and I could feel "joy" in my heart again. Not so. I still feel the same anger that I have felt for the last eight years of a treasonous, criminal regime.
This time of year is about giving, loving, and showing appreciation . . . yet, we have spent years of war, and lately, weeks, watching people with real health problems and families who lost loved ones who needed healthcare, used as Bush GOP hits. People were heckled and abused on TV. We call this kind of disrespect and abuse "free speech.?"
Those people should have been thrown out of the room because they were abusing the free speech of those American citizens who were in need, and they were talking about the real problems this country's citizens face today. Why wasn't this done? We Americans "need" Single Payer healthcare, but they compromised for Public Option, and what do we end up with . . . your guess is as good as mine, but, one thing for sure, it's not what is needed.
I have to admit that for a government and a country that wants to call itself a democracy, and, we keep hearing people wanting to type-cast this nation "under God," and yet, everything this nation does to please the Bush GOP,
is a violent act. The lack of decent healthcare that has been denied for years, when other countries that are less entitled and less able, than that of the reputation of the US, have had such care for years, and those countries don't have over 800 military camps around the world, protecting this nation from what . . . we need protection from these people, those who want to continue to make money off of war, and would rather spend this country's bounties on killing people than on saving lives.
We are broke due to the Bush/Cheney GOP regime that spent money as if it was their money to spend and Congress did nothing to stop them. Did we hear the cries of "foul-fowl" from the Democratic leadership? Hell no! Did we see those teabaggers parade around the country trying to save lives? Hell no! Now, they want to know why they are left holding the bags? Look to your Bush GOP leaders, teabaggers. You know, the ones standing around the
halls of Congress these past months, doing nothing and bragging about it.
Why anyone would even think of voting or supporting a political party that has accomplished so much destruction without any accountability . . . and, that is also the reason they think they can pull another political trick out of the bag during the next election by trying to blame the Democrats and Obama.
They won't have to use election fraud. Why? Because they are getting away with the same old tricks, the same old crimes that they got away with during the Clinton administration, that lost the Democratic Party's majority in that Congress.
Obama tied his own hands when he surrounded himself with the Lieberman/Clinton DLC and the Bush GOP, which has kept this country mired in the same deep crap left to us by the Bush/Cheney administration.
And, President Clinton is smart, a great talker, but didn't help the people of this nation who want and need decent healthcare by failing to support it, blaming a news person.
Bill Clinton told FDL's Eve Gittelson that it would be problematic for him to attend a free medical clinic being held in Little Rock, Arkansas [held Saturday] because MSNBC's Keith Olbermann had "politicized" the event." He indicated that some were turning the event into a primary kickoff against Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln.
Clinton says he couldn't attend health clinic because of Olbermann | Raw Story
I got news for Clinton, just like the Bush GOP, Democrats want to blame everybody except themselves. It would have been a proud day to see Clinton attend this free clinic, that Americans spent money on, trying to prove to a dysfunctional Congress that we have thousands of poor people in need in this country. Olbermann didn't politicize healthcare, Congress did. This is why the Democrats never get anywhere with real democratic ideals that should be expected from a country that wants to think of itself as a leader around the world and an example of Democracy. Poppycock! What the Democratic Party lacks is loyalty in DC. What US Democracy lacks is loyalty in DC.
The majority of Americans are good, reliable, honest, and worthy people. One has to ask, why do we constantly end up with a government that is full of nothing but debt, death, and destruction. A government made up of educated people who, when talking to the citizens of this country sound utterly stupid, ill informed, and without knowledge of life out in the mother land (it's on purpose).
Maybe wealth and position have something to do with that. They are supposed to work for the people of this nation, but it doesn't look that way behind the Beltway. We Americans do not want war instead of healthcare. We Americans do not want our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers killed
to fulfill some fat, sitting-behind-a-desk or microphone, white guys' idea of power around the world. We do not want this country run by a military complex. We've heard for years about the so-called cold war, that we must fear communism, we must fear the Nazis . . . the only bullies around the world today and the only reason we have enemies today is due to the last 30 years of Republican rule in the US, without accountability. Nixon just walked away. Reagan/Bush/Bush never had to fear accountability because Clinton stopped the investigations and continued the ruthless bombing of Iraq, that we know created many birth defects, just to please the Bush GOP. We all know how they showed their appreciation. The Republican legislature impeached him and Bush number one says he's a father figure to Clinton. Nice!
I'm feel certain that I'm not alone when I ask . . . how many years of debt, death, and destruction have to pass for this nation to stop creating wars against helpless people, when we have the largest nuclear stash on this planet? How dare we be told that this is in defense of this nation, when Bush number two failed to warn us Americans and the airlines before 911. How many innocent people have to die before the blood lust of a few in this nation is satisfied, I wonder.
The Bush GOP, when talking about global warming, want to sound as if it is some kind of strange finding, a hoax. I wonder when the icecaps finally dissolve, what will they say when cities are under water. They will lie and blame the Democrats.
When we have so many problems facing this planet, such as global warming and much needed healthcare, and much needed changes in legislation brought against the people of this nation by the Bush/Cheney administration . . . when is anything ever solved by the use of violence . . . it only begets violence, and if Bush had been put out of office, since he was not elected, but selected by our illustrious Supreme Court, the only enemies facing this country today, would still be those few who were living in the caves with bin Laden. But, our own military has done a great job of seeing to it that we are hated around the world and don't mind using our youth to do it.
Do those in our government actually think that we Americans do not see the underlying hypocrisy, the lack of actual work in our own Congress that's not
being done for the people of this nation, and do we not see that there are corporations, our own MSM, who promote the lies and propaganda and put the truth on the back pages?
Just as we had to put up with the day-to-day nonsense by our MSM during the Clinton administration . . . the Bush GOP gaining appeasement with the use of constant whining and accusations worked back then and they are still
harping today. They will attack anyone or anything other than the real problems facing us today. The same Bush GOP, who caused this country to go broke, who are responsible for the deaths in two countries, their role in trying to arm every American walking the streets of this country, the ruination of our education, because thinking Americans and independent Americans aren't that easily fooled or controlled by their stupid propaganda . . . and, when as I use the word stupid, I have to remember the color coded system for alerts during the Bush administration and the use of duct tape for protection, and oh, so much more.
We pay these people big salaries, and this is the stupid stuff we get back? Without accountability . . . this country will never be a real democracy as long as people in government are not made responsible, just as they would be in any other job.
For instance, I never thought I'd see the day that this country would invade another country, especially such a weak and vulnerable one, like Iraq. (Of course, Bush would never invade any country who could fight back.) However, today, the violence continues in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the US, in Pakistan, is using some type of robotic or drone weaponry to kill people and then report to the media in the US that "such and such person in the Taliban," has been killed. This is how a country that brags about being a democracy is supposed to conduct itself? How in the hell do we know who they really killed, and why not trials and courts? This is first degree murder. Do we want to see this on our streets in the future? We had a law in Florida passed while Bush was in office, that a person could shoot to kill if they "thought" they were threatened. Stupid? Yes. Irresponsible? Yes. But, this was the same ideology that Bush used to invade Iraq.
I have to wonder how many people have been killed for other reasons and yet walk free in Florida. Another crime was the abusive attack by the Bush GOP on ACORN, and backed by weak Democrats. Shame on you Democrats.
You allowed this to happen to an organization that is for the good of people, getting them to feel interested and important to US government, and use their rights. You stopped the funding of this organization without any investigation or proof. Yet, you can't bring about investigations into the criminal activities of the Bush/Cheney regime. This is a very big problem in the US today, and that is, that, we do not have a balance of powers. Too many people have been in DC in Congress for too many years, Democrats and the GOP, and they are "friends." If Congress is not going to be a watch dog, and allow the GOP, that has become a party of NO, and refuse to do the work of the people without accountability, neither Party is doing the work of the people. This Congress has caused much harm by doing nothing. In fact, the Democrats took the word of the Republicans and the GOP media, knowing what the Bush GOP is like, and turned against ACORN.
Turns out, as we have seen in this instance, and I'm not surprised, no illegal acts were committed. If Congress wants to judge ACORN for what the GOP tried to set them up with, why not look in the mirror. Crime after crime after crime was committed during 30 years of Reagan/Bush/Bush/Clinton administrations and nothing was ever done. Clinton's crime was to stop the investigations and bring us NAFTA and open the door for Bush number two to walk through. Pleasing the Bush GOP was and still is, crime enough.
ACORN loses funding from many Bay Area backers
And, we always have something to take the attention away from the real problems of the day. Flu for instance.
Posted by: Dr. Mercola
According to Robert DuPont, a former White House drug czar and former director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, "The biggest and fastest-growing part of America's drug problem is prescription drug abuse.
The statistics are unmistakable."The CDC should take notice of these statistics and raise a Pandemic Level 6 Warning for the use of prescription drugs – it's clearly killing FAR more people than the swine flu ever will.
Deadlier than Cocaine, Heroin, and the Swine Flu?
Oh, and lately the tomato scene and arrest at a Palin book signing. Somehow, this stupid act seems so GOP to me, like a setup to get attention.
For one thing, he missed by ten feet.
Jeremy Paul Olson, 33, lobbed two tomatoes at former Alaska
governor Sarah Palin yesterday at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., reports Politico. (Photo at right of Olson is from Mark Stehlik of the Bloomington Police Department.)
Target: Palin. Weapon: Tomato. Mission not accomplished. - On Politics - USATODAY.com
Palin is a typical example of willful ignorance in this country today. Also, there is to be oil drilling in that pristine country, Alaska, something many of us have fought against all through the Bush years.

And, of course, Tiger Woods, who has managed to live up to that name in more ways than just with golf. Again, money and power without the responsibility. I feel much sympathy for his wife, his kids when they get older,
because this was not one mistake that he was sorry for, he was caught, and these aren't mistakes, they seem to be more of a pattern of his life style. However, the Bush GOP probably would want to thank him for keeping the headlines away from DC.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, but it's never brought out into the public. Our GOP leaning media understands that for the public to remember a headline, it has to be repeated over and over again, but that won't happen by corporate media. Today, that's another big problem in this country. You'd think that with the availability of communication, that our citizens would be up to date and very informed, but that's not so. Media can lie, such as Fox News, or just frame their sentences to change the meaning of the real news,
and without any worry for doing so. How democratic of them.
Another trick by the Bush GOP is to use words such as "neo-liberalism," counting on the fact that the public will associate that word with liberalism, when in fact, it is the opposite. "Free" to me is a word used by con-artists, and there is no such thing as a free market, not for the people. It has cost us jobs, food, our middle class, and for many Americans, hope for a nice home, a good education for their children . . . who gets these things so easily . . . families of our government. Who gets good healthcare, families of our government. Who doesn't end up on the front lines of US invasions?
Those who work for the US government. In other words, want the good
life without responsibility? Run for Congress. (sarcastic remark)

Check out the neo-liberalism link for the 13 reasons why it's no good for a democracy.
Advocates evoke terminology such as 'free markets,' while those acquainted with its true nature prefer "Market Fascism." In any case, neo-liberalism is the philosophical basis for, the specific policies that brought and continue to bring about, and a convenient short hand for the near absolute rule by corporations and certain economic interests in general that we have especially come to know in the past 30 years (and more)
When markets are presumed to be the paramount facet of society and thus business is allowed to just algorithmically march on guided by the 'invisible hand' of market forces, when government and popular oversight is negated and derided, when the power of corporate agglomerations aggregate, the following are inevitable effects:

Want to know what this continuation in Afghanistan and Iraq reminds me of? Well, I'll tell you anyway. Ever heard of the old saying "White man's burden,?' "
"White man's burden. . . A smug assertion of the moral duty of imperialist Europeans to bring technology and civilization to backward peoples whether they wanted it or not, and over their dead bodies if need be, as long as the imperial profits justified the moral effort. [A phrase popularized in late XIX by various apologists for Imperialism, and perhaps most prominently by Rudyard Kipling.] The Third Browsers Dictionary by John Ciardi.
Unbelievable that this still exists today. We have been warned about our Pentagon, and I'll always remember and have a great respect for
President Eisenhower for that . . . another warning regarding our press. "The bigger the information media, the less courage and freedom they allow. Bigness means weakness. Eric Sevareid, "The Press and the People," TV Program, 1959.
How many of us Americans remember hearing President Bush number one constantly talking about voodoo economics . . . well, under the Bush/Cheney GOP, this country has gone from voodoo economics to "Dodo economics." With the war hawks, who continue to talk of war as a solution to everything,(oh, we won't find them on the front lines), if we Americans just sit back and do nothing, we, too, as a leading country, will become devoured by such beliefs, resulting in becoming extinct. We have a very good head start.
I don't have to repeat the fact that today, we are owned by China. Whodda thought? Only through great leadership and by following today's Republican Party and a few Democrats, who keep calling themselves . . . centrists, moderates, whatever the public wants to believe, but, they are either Republicans at heart, or they owe their soul to the GOP corporate world . . .
it's that great leadership, strong, willful leadership that will save this country from self-destruction. President Obama gets no respect from the Bush GOP . . . He can give them everything these criminals ask for and still they will blame him, and show constant racist, disrespect, that is uncalled for towards a sitting resident in the White House. But, they don't mind. Obama could change this overnight, through accountability, hard rules, and cleaning up Bush's disasters with investigations, and some, with one wipe of a pen. I think even Obama might be surprised at how respectful these Bush Republicans would become.
No Democrat who believes in the policies that bring about a real democracy would ever vote Republican today, and why would any Democrat think we needed them, the GOP non-working ones, "the faithful Bush ones", as friends? Birds of a feather, and these birds (war hawks) brought us the highest debt ever, the deaths of millions of innocent people, and the destruction of three countries . . . and, they still want more. What thinking American could possible believe this is leadership? This is democracy in the works?
"Words . . . are the great foes of reality." Joseph Conrad, Under Western Eyes, 1911."
If there is love and caring in this country, it comes from the citizens, not from our government. Most of them couldn't care less, until it's time for their re-election. The Bush GOP only want complete power.
It's up to us, the people, along with those members of Congress who really
do work for us to clean up after the Bush GOP criminal regime. We can do it. We put Obama in the Executive Branch . . . call me a fool or naive . . . I will never let go of the facts and the memories, that we have the heritage of great leaders in the past . . .we can do anything that we are organized and committed to doing. We can straighten out this country once and for all,
just by using common sense, and, our future generations depend on it. So, show your love, and then we'll get to work, and that means demanding accountability, and by using target practice for future elections for the systematic removal of those who refuse to work for the people. Not doing the job . . . run someone against that candidate, who will do the job.
Democrat, of course.

Shirley Smith
