Not Just On Halloween Any More -- Ghouls On Parade
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
Buzz Flash,
"If thought corrupts language, language also corrupts thought." -- George Orwell
It's the corruption of thought through language from our government for the past eight years that has caused a large number of American citizens to become paranoid and fearful. Those actions and the language were used against us Americans for eight years, whether it was through legislature or through something as simple as just trying to travel. The Bush GOP's use of terrorism, paranoia, and fear was out there every day in order to control our thoughts and our behavior. And, our Congress allowed this, knowing it was all fake. Remember the stupid color-coded system announced every day or the duct tape protection? Stupidity ruled this country and most of our members of Congress went along with this. Our multimillionaire, well educated, members of Congress, I might add.
Humor me, it's that time of year again. Fall, change in time, foliage, weather, and it's Halloween. My favorite holiday growing up, a pagan celebration of the dead. It was fun, and in my small hometown, everyone participated . . . thinking up one's own costume, haunted house hunting, decorating, treats, and at the end of the evening, on Main Street, walking up on a stage and each costume was judged. Not scary as a child, just fun. Today, when I hear of children being afraid of this holiday, I think of the fear that has been thrown out into American society by Bush GOP politicians for the last thirty years, and especially, all during the eight years of the Bush regime, and wonder if that is part of it, no question, the violence seen in our youth today has to be part of it.
Their (Bush GOP) constant shadows of violence and paranoid fear mongering thrown down onto U. S. society on a daily basis . . . infiltrated American minds with dark and self-inhibiting thoughts, and this abuse by the Bush administration was aided by GOP MSM.
Ghouls do walk among us today and especially felt all during those last eight years of the Bush regime. Take one definition from the Oxford American Dictionary of a ghoul . . . "A person morbidly interested in death or disaster." Isn't that a clear definition of where these United States are today due to the Bush GOP and their eight years of debt, death, and destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan . . . and, to this day, no accountability exists for the deaths and destruction of millions of lives. Ordinary people, duplicates of you and me, lives destroyed, all due to the lies of the Bush GOP regime, and our members of Congress allowed this to happen. So, as an adult, I can't help but think how appropriate this celebration is of the dead in these United States at Halloween, and what this country allowed to go on for so many years, and it is still going on as I speak.
What I do find amazing is that those decisions by our members of Congress didn't take up much of their time back then . . . and, we never hear them talk about the lives that were altered or completely destroyed by their decisions . . . but, talk about saving lives, such as single payer health care, or even such a thing as a public option, and the talks have dragged on until they are a complete embarrassment to this country . . . of course, embarrassment is putting it very mildly, in my mind. I'm mad as hell. I thought after being mad as hell for eight years of the Bush regime, I would get a reprieve, but I was wrong. And, what our government has wrong is putting up with the constant nagging and complaining by those same Republicans who supported the Bush regime. A large dose of accountability would shut them the hell up.
Every person in a country such as the United States, where most of the government's budget goes toward military, without any excuses or discussions or even asking us Americans about such a budget . . . but, try to get something for the people of this nation, the very people who support this nation . . . and it's impossible. Oh, these same people don't think twice about sending our military into harms way. The U.S. supports 800 military bases around the world. Our husbands, wives, sons, daughters . . . and, they damn sure don't worry about the cost.
To this day, we still do not have accountability for all of the fraud that was going on in Iraq, or for the deaths of women in the military who put their lives at risk, and died, because of the fear of being raped by their own fellow military. Any accountability there? The fraud in the rebuilding of New Orleans. People still don't have homes. How about all of the crazy legislation by Bush . . . it should all be erased off the books, but my dollar says it's still there, all of it.
Healthcare, education, jobs, decent, reasonably priced, healthy food for every person living in this country should not become just items on a wish list by the citizens of these United States . . . but, that's where they reside today. However, Wall Street and the banks, it didn't take Congress too long to fill their wish lists, did it. And, bonuses too. More proof that money talks a language only heard and understood in Congress.
Watching Olbermann's show and Senator Landrieu (paraphrasing), when she was talking about how American citizens expected "free" health care. It was also, how she said it. How much does Senator Landrieu pay for her healthcare? And, even if she had to pay for it, her salary would be more than suffice, wouldn't it?
What we Americans need in this country are about 250 to 300 members in Congress who sound like Representative Alan Grayson of Florida. A modern day Superman, a real hero. I can't remember hearing such talk coming out of Congress for years. And, he didn't apologize for telling the truth. Real, sincere, and of good character. There are millions of us Americans out in the mother land, and so few of those who work in government, and we should not have to bow down to corporate owned members of Congress who take months just to cuss and discuss a simple solution to U.S. healthcare . . . healthcare that has already been proven to be successful in Canada for years . . . our own close neighbor . . . has anyone talked with Canada or looked at their healthcare system? Hell no.
I predicted that all of this talk was just to make us Americans think these people were going to do something responsible, but we won't get anything that we really need . . . isn't it interesting how those same decisions that kill millions of people in war, take no time at all . . . we had eight years of silence out of these people in Congress when debt, death, and destruction resulted in those decisions by the same Republicans and supportive Democrats in Congress, who knew what was going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, and how many of them even bothered to visit New Orleans.
Today, we hear how the Bush GOP is going after Speaker Pelosi. Don't take that too seriously. She made them very happy for eight long years with her clean table. Never gave them any trouble at all, regardless of the crimes that were obvious, even to the public . . . they (the Bush GOP) make noise, so that people will think Pelosi did her job, working for the people. They don't have those GOP think tanks for anything. Just check out some of the so-called polls or the media when reporting on any GOP demonstrations, they make it seem as if these people represent a large portion of this society, which is not true. In simple language, and in reality, the Bush GOP is toast.
We Americans have been on a puppet string for years and it's time to cut those threads, permanently. We need a Congress that represents the people of this nation in a healthy and caring way . . . to get that, we have to be organized and replace these politicians. We need representatives of the people for the people of this nation, not those who represent themselves.
Fox News and their O'Reilly laughably denying how tight they were with the Bush GOP administration. It was reported in the news several times that on many occasions, Fox News was the only news media that was allowed on Bush's flights. They were known to be an arm of the Bush White House. As usual, no news on Fox News.
It is comforting to see some type of accountability for the hate talk radio jocks, such as Limbaugh, whose bid for a team in the NFL was scoffed at, but, the shame of it still lives on . . . that, such hate and racist talk can make a person a millionaire in this country today and is acceptable . . . greed, the almighty.
We still lack accountability in this country today for crimes committed in U.S. government for the last eight years, and as always, U.S. government just wants us Americans to forget the past, but our past is our future. This should come as no surprise, with the debt and the deaths that we have today, all due to the Bush GOP administration's policies, and yet, crimes are never punished when committed by those in U.S. government, otherwise, the proof would be in our federal prisons . . .
Accountability does matter . . . not a big example, but the insurance company, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, a Colorado-based, not-for-profit organization that would not insure a healthy baby, who was overweight . . . after finding themselves in the critical eyes of the public . . . they had a change of heart and they changed their policy. The change of heart wasn't because of their bad policy . . . just their bad publicity. What does this have to do with politicians in Congress, you ask . . . the problem is that when it comes time for re-elections, members of Congress start acting as if they care about the people . . . Americans have to take a long look at the whole record of those in Congress . . . and then, work like hell to replace them.
It's not like this is a problem that needs to be discovered. If we Americans had the right Congress up there today or even, yesterday . . . members who are just content in doing their jobs . . . we'd have single payer healthcare, jobs, free education for all, and we would have had it years ago . . . children and adults would not be starving in this country while people in government just turned away, and many of our vets would not be found living on our streets . . . we wouldn't find ourselves where we are today . . . owned by China.
We didn't get in this horrible situation over night. It took years and it took the silence and the votes of many members of Congress. If those Republican and Democratic members of Congress, who don't want to work at all for the people of this country, were to find themselves being made accountable for this mess . . . they wouldn't have time to keep going after President Obama. And, If Obama went after them and the Democrats who keep supporting the Bush GOP, he would gain their respect very quickly. Bipartisanship has its place in a government that has a Congress that wants to work for the people, but those who support the Republican Party of today, just want power, they couldn't care less about the people of this country and the sooner that Obama surrounds himself with those who want to work for the people, we all will all be better off.
Too much money for the people of this country for healthcare, but not too much money for U.S. military when there is no real threat around the world. A small portion of what this country spends on military would solve many healthcare problems, extend lives, bring healthy babies into the world, instead of dead babies, due to the lack of prenatal care, and save thousands of lives, yearly, because many Americans would be able to live longer (which is what this Congress doesn't give a damn about since it's not their lives being held up) . . . these decisions are not difficult, but those who work for the people of this country have been allowed to get away with doing whatever they want to do without any accountability for their actions or for their decisions.
American citizens should not have to suffer because of the backward, selfish, dishonest loyalties, criminal, and treasonous decisions made by members of a corrupt Congress during the Bush administration. Many of us Americans are still waiting to see everything, the corrupt Bush regime did, changed back towards sanity, such as the Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind, and all of the other euphemisms used to hide hateful legislation that was used to fill GOP loyalists' pockets, including all of those companies who made fortunes off of Bush's illegal invasion/occupation into Iraq. Faulty equipment, moldy food, military killed taking showers, women raped, bills padded, Bush's billion dollar penis extension in Iraq, called an embassy, just to mention a few costly things . . . and, we Americans can't get decent healthcare. Why were no-bid contracts allowed when selling to U.S. government? Eh?
And, these politicians in Congress want us to care about them or their jobs? I don't think so. No, the ghouls, those whose decisions brought death and destruction into our society, still walk among us until we vote them out of office.
We Americans have a problem with facing the truth. After eight years, we Americans wanted to look forward, and move towards a better future for us all. We wanted accountability, and what we have so far, are loud, foul-mouthed Republicans, and Democrats who just want to get along. Well, I don't want to get along. I want justice, decent healthcare, jobs, education that doesn't put a young person in debt for life . . . and, I doubt very much if multimillionaires in Congress could ever understand what the people's needs are . . . they don't listen, because they think they don't have to listen to us. After all, they haven't listened to us Americans for years. People who protested for "peace" were arrested by the Bush regime . . . how many of those members in Congress stood up against those policies? Eh?
Myths in the form of total propaganda are what we Americans have been fed for years by the Republican Party of today and those Democrats who keep supporting them.
This always reminds me of a well known quote by John F. Kennedy in an address to Yale University . . . "The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived, and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic."
I've said this before, so I'll say it again and again . . . the so-called Blue Dogs are Republicans and they are put into office by Republicans because they vote Republican most of the time . . . this allows the unpopular, unruly, unwilling to work Republican Party of today to rule Congress. And, when a Republican switches to the Democratic Party because the Bush GOP is not popular today, pay attention to how they vote . . . that should tell people why they switched . . . just to keep a job?
Not to forget our illustrious and very Republican Supreme Court . . . another group who should have been made accountable for the catastrophe of breaking U.S. law and putting Bush into the White House. Why has this not happened? How can we believe in such a court? Without accountability, that court is forever tainted.
Healthcare, healthy food, free education, decent jobs . . . in a nation such as these United States, all of these things should be a right of every citizen, and no one in this country should ever be looked down upon because they are poor. Being poor in such a country as ours is a sign that this country is off track, that our government is not working for the people . . . millions of people without jobs or healthcare. And, this was permitted to go on for years by many members of the same Congress today. Such employees would have been fired long ago in any corporation in this country.
"Man did not enter into society to become worse than he was before, nor to have fewer rights than he had before, but to have those rights better secured." Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man, 1791
In order to secure our rights as American citizens, we need to make those members in Congress feel a whole lot less secure in their jobs.

Shirley Smith
