There's More Than One Kind of 'Hit- and-Run'

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

Buzz Flash,

Some people seem as if they can never have been children, and others seem as if they could never be anything else. George Dennison Prentice, Prenticeana, 1860.

The last eight years of the Bush GOP regime's war against the world and us Americans seemed as if it would never end. However, if we look at it within the context of time itself, it would not even amount to the blink of an eye. In that context, us Americans, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the city of New Orleans were all victims of the same hit-and-run tactics used by the Bush GOP regime.

Just thinking about all of the crimes committed by the Bush GOP regime and those who supported them, including many members of Congress, it's quite baffling to constantly hear the Bush GOP in Congress say that they hope the Obama Administration fails because they think that will put them in a positive position in this country. Since when is the criminal of a hit-and-run ever considered to be not guilty and instead, those found at the scene picking up the bloody chunks and fragments would be accused of the crime. How is this kind of Bush GOP reasoning sold to us Americans out in the motherland? Mainly through our big guy media. It makes such easy fillers for real news.

Think about it. These Bush Republicans in Congress think that if Obama fails to clean up their massive debt, death, and destruction that they caused during the last eight years of the Bush regime, that Obama and his administration will be blamed and will therefore help the Bush GOP politically in the future. That is a defamation of the character of every American who believes in U.S. democracy, thinking that we Americans are going to forget, not just the last eight years of Republican rule, but the last 30-40 years of criminal activity gone unpunished and was lead by the Bush GOP in U.S. government.

Every criminal on the run would love this type of warped reasoning. The problem in DC today is that these members of Congress who supported the criminal Bush regime have not been made accountable. Most of us Americans are for bipartisanship, but trying to garner that with those same members of Congress who refuse to take responsibility, and who are still standing on the sidelines while people are suffering for what they allowed the Bush regime to do, and they expect what . . . that we Americans are so stupid as to want their leadership in Congress again?

The highest debt ever in U.S. history. Over 5,000 American military dead. Thousands wounded and lives ruined. Over a million dead in Iraq . . . men, women, children . . . and 3-4 million lives ruined. They fled their own country because of the Bush GOP's illegal and treasonous invasion/occupation of Iraq. Thousands dead and wounded in Afghanistan, and the drowning deaths and destruction in New Orleans.

And, to make matters worse in Congress, the Democrats have for years put up with what some members proudly call themselves . . . the Blue Dogs. The Blue Dogs, to be quite blunt, are the Bush GOP's method for ruling both political parties in DC. It's time they are challenged. They are not Democrats. They are Republicans and they need to be with those they proudly support, the Bush GOP. People still have to ask who or where the Blue Dogs are?

And, speaking of our public servants, our protectors . . . the cops. We have many hard working, great cops in this country, many who have given up their lives in the line of duty, much like our military has, even under the leadership of a criminal Bush GOP. The problem is that Crowley's arrogant behavior was because of his own ego, and he gets protected. Bush would have loved that kind of behavior coming from a cop. And, many of us Americans have seen it time and time again. Peer review is what such cops need . . . and, more training. We all know about many incidences where unarmed people have lost their lives due to the arrogant and uncontrollable tempers of armed cops.

There was no acrimony -- nor apology -- from any of the three: black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., white Cambridge, Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley who had arrested him for disorderly conduct, and Obama who declared on national TV that the police had "acted stupidly." But neither Gates nor Crowley backtracked either, agreeing they still had differences.

Gates, Crowley Meet for White House Beer Summit

No one in their right mind could possible think that it was a smart move for this cop to arrest Professor Gates, Jr., in his own home just because he mouthed off to him. That's not what a cop's job is. However, as much as we can try to appreciate President Obama's willingness to bring these two, Gates and Crowley together . . . this country, today, is not Alice's Wonderland. Those behind the beltway can pretend, but we Americans out in the motherland have to live in the real world, a world of suffering that never makes the MSM headlines.

These members of Congress and the Bush Administration ran over this nation without any hesitation or thought as to the people of this nation and the aftereffects of their actions. If we Americans can't make them work for us . . . we can put them out of work. We don't need bipartisanship with those who have supported a criminal regime for the last eight years and thought nothing of it. We need U.S. law in U.S. government. No more hit and runs. No more Bush GOP who don't give a damn about us Americans, whether it's healthcare, military, jobs, manufacturing, the worker, the elderly . . . we don't need anyone in Congress who refuses to work for the people of this country. Life is too short and is being made shorter for many Americans by these Bush loyalists who are still in Congress.

Other Bush GOP tactics are those who constantly use the Internet to write corrosive critiques and vote in polls that show support for the Bush GOP. Is it so surprising that the Bush GOP would pay people to do this in order to convince many Americans that a majority in this country are supportive of these Republicans? Money talks for these people.

The crimes committed these past eight years are too serious. We need accountability. No more debt, death, and destruction by our own government. No more toleration for those standing on the sidelines, making noise instead of helping to clean up their mess. What the Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress need to do is to "quit being nice to these do-nothing, Bush GOP hypocrites, who are acting like spoiled and privileged brats." And, take care of government as if they weren't there, because they are not there for the people of this nation.

Let's be jovial, fill our glasses;
Madness 'tis for us to think
How the world is ruled by asses,
And, the wise are swayed by chink.
Unknown, Let's Be Jovial. Dublin, c. 1810.

And, what is "chink?" It's what the Bush Republicans in Congress do best . . . (Trying to create a 'chink' in the Democrats' armor. Attacking character. Doing nothing, especially their jobs. Constantly criticize Obama and Democrats in the media. Judge. Reproach. Condemn. Disagree. Explosive discord. Placing cracks in government and then blaming the Democrats, and, getting big guy media coverage . . . imagine that. Regardless of the unwillingness for media to tell it like it is, it is racism at its most potent. Blanketed with the flag, of course.)

These Bush GOP members of Congress along with their radio shock jocks fill the MSM's love for light-news drama by constantly attacking the Democrats, the liberals, the progressives, and today, it's the Obama Administration. The very people who are willing to try and clean up their criminal and treasonous mess that they supported and was caused by the hit-and-run tactics of the Bush/Cheney/Rove GOP regime. How do our Democrats in Congress and Obama react to this? They apologize. They water down legislation just to please. Pleasing the wrong people! They want to be bipartisan. Friendly. Share, etc. Under normal circumstances, this would be great, however, these times are far from normal. The Bush GOP in Congress is nothing more than dead weight, and it's time the Democrats to quit carrying them.

They (Democrats, not the Blue Dogs) are constantly allowing themselves to be put on the defensive by the very people who should be held accountable for all of the debt, death, and destruction that has devastated the U.S., Iraq, Afghanistan, and New Orleans. U.S. law is long overdue in U.S. government. For the sake of this country, please, Democrats, get angry, get tough. We Americans have had enough!

Thanks Buzz Flash,

Shirley Smith

Obama slippage

Oldwoman has one question: Who put the screws to Obama? It is jaundiced to think he has made an 180-degree turnaround. But there are all kinds of threats and intimidation out there, including murder, harm to family that we don't see or hear. Ask Hillary Clinton; she knows the full brunt of it. Yet she is white and female, which carry some small amount of protection compared to Obama. I forget the name of the person who wrote an article about Michelle Obama and got 400 responses, some too vile to print. We have been turned into a nation of haters, screamers, defilers, who are close to being afraid to talk to our neighbors or even go out of our houses. Obama can't change all of that, and he shouldn't be made to carry the load. (That reminds me. Jesus had to drag that heavy, cumbersome cross.) I am hoping that Obama as president is at least a small stepping stone to more good will.

"Hit and run" is a false analogy

Please stop pretending like you don't know what the problem is in Washington.

Barack Obama is now just as guilty as Dubya/dick.

Obama just participated in the theft of over ELEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS when he helped to transfer it to the big banks and Wall Street. He is continuing the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, while refusing to prosecute war crimes, making himself a war criminal in the process. And he is bowing to the upper 1% plutocracy with decisions that favor big corporations over WE THE PEOPLE.

It makes no difference who is in office or which party is in the majority. The K Street lobbyists have deep enough pockets to corrupt any new members of Congress with campaign contributions (bribes), thus stealing democracy away from WE THE PEOPLE.

Their kind of mutinous, treasonous behavior will not end until we end private campaign contributions and shut down the K Street lobbyists' whore houses.

Now that's an analogy!

The GOP Will Succeed Anyway

Logic insists that the GOP with their poor performance record could not again regain power, but who else will the electorate turn to once Obama disappoints so many people that he cannot be re-elected?

You list all of the GOP's faults and crimes, yet the mindset of the American people is "Who Has Done What To Me Lately?". This is what the American people - with a memory span of about two weeks - now recall. The GOP didn't promise to put Americans back to work and then force the automakers to sacrifice their work forces. The GOP didn't promise to repair the mortgage mess and then ship off years-worth of tax receipts to the very perpetrators of the calamity (although they did begin the process of giving away the people's tax revenue) as millions of people lose their homes. The GOP didn't promise universal health care and then firmly implant the American people into a mandatory private insurance plan many will not be able to afford.

I had much higher hopes for Obama than he has delivered. While I remember the GOP excesses which brought about the decline of our nation, I understand why people will again support the GOP even though I cannot. There is little time left for Obama to reverse this looming catastrophe, and he is going to have to abandon "bipartisanship" in favor of saving the nation from the GOP and Blue Dog pirates he now courts for support that never comes.

I wish Obama had half of your wisdom, Shirley. He would see with his own eyes what to do.
