The Other Forgotten or Missing in Action "T" Words
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
BuzzFlash,
"The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather that of the party . . . that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections. -- Lord Acton, The History of Freedom, 1907
As of late, it's been "torture" in the news all of the time. And, as always, that is to keep the other more important "T" words out of the press and out of the public's hearing or out of sight, out of mind . . . whatever works.
On a day that we Americans set aside to remember and pay our respects to those who gave up everything, their lives, in the name of this country, it is especially sad to know that, if this country paid more respect and took more responsibility towards the living in our military and in our National Guard . . . then after these last eight years of the Bush GOP regime, there would be at least 5,000 empty graves on Memorial weekend, and thousands of others living a life without injuries, and we would not have to read about suicides due to the lack of health care and having to return to Iraq, time after time, like human boomerangs.
The other "T" words that we are not hearing or seeing in the news are "tyranny" as explained in the above quote, "treason," "traitors," "truth," and "trust." Just try to find any one of those words in MSM today in articles referring to the Bush GOP.
I would find it particularly amusing, if this were an amusing topic, that Senator Sessions is talking about Sotomayor's personal life coloring her legal opinions, when we Americans had "FIVE Supreme Court Justices" break their own law in order to put their personal and political choice, George W. Bush, into the White House. Bush, who never came close to having the majority of votes for this country. Bush who, if having to take any kind of test for such a high ranking job in government, would have, without any doubt, failed.
Again, no one, even Supreme Court Justices, should be above US law. If this country was a real working democracy, there would have been "five" empty seats available on that court before today. However, as we have seen for over thirty years of the Bush GOP, how the Right Wing of that Republican Party with the use of their "think tanks" tries to decide what are the best techniques to keep the majority of American citizens from thinking. If we consider all of the election fraud and the decision by the illustrious five Supreme Court justices, along with corporate America (MSM) . . . the citizens of this country had nothing to do with putting or keeping this treasonous crowd in the White House . . . yet, who is getting stuck with paying the full price for all of the crimes committed during these last eight years? Our military, our National Guard, and all of our American citizens, not to forget what the people of Iraq and Afghanistan have had to live with, hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced. Lives destroyed.
But Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, made it clear that Republicans are ready to raise pointed questions about whether she would let her personal life color her legal opinions - and whether that is appropriate for a Supreme Court justice.
GOP won't filibuster to block Sotomayor, GOP senator says - The Boston Globe
It was, in my opinion, a sad Memorial Day to see Dick Cheney, Rove, or even Bush on any news channel as an example of paying respect to our dead military. The real story there was the nakedness of our MSM. From the beginning, many of our MSM supported the illegal Bush GOP regime. Americans knew practically nothing at all about what was actually going on in Iraq. It was all business and life without the reality and horror our troops and the Iraqi people were having to live with on a daily basis.
Our troops didn't get the respect shown to them for paying with their lives when they came home in their flag-covered coffins. They were ignored by the Bush GOP administration and by our MSM. That's the kind of respect our troops have had during the Bush GOP regime, besides lying about the body counts.
We still have our young people dying for the lies of the Bush GOP, and after all of these years, Cheney, Rove, Rummy, and Bush are all out there getting as much media time as they want without any accountability or even any fear of being held responsible for their war for profit.
We have had reports for years about fraud, rotten food, faulty equipment, lies, subterfuge, the outing of a CIA agent who tracked terrorists, and so much more . . . and yet, these members of the Bush GOP administration are given the respect of the MSM to talk about, of all things, torture and our troops. They are given respect by most of those serving in US government.
In my mind, all of this GOP show biz on MSM would amount to being the same as having a funeral for a loved one who had been murdered, with the criminals standing there giving the eulogy. If the proper respect was to be shown, all of these men who started this invasion/occupation in Iraq and who are also responsible for those murdered in Afghanistan, they would have been talking, but would have been doing so in bright shiny new handcuffs, and the keys would have been thrown away.
At least 11 deaths of Fort Campbell soldiers this year are confirmed or suspected suicides, spokeswoman Kelly Tyler said. That's out of 64 confirmed or suspected suicides in the entire Army, according to official statistics. At that rate, the Army is on pace for a record number of suicides this year.
Our young people, without the proper training, were sent to Iraq to fight an unknown enemy because we invaded that country. They not only served, they would serve several tours. Then the horrible nightmares, Post Traumatic Stress would be a natural thing for many Americans, in traumatic situations, any citizen in Iraq would be suffering the same . . . yet, US government refused treatment and many of these suicides were caused because these young people couldn't stand to go back to that terror they had already faced, and they couldn't get it out of their minds.
These decisions (to invade Iraq) were made not only due to lies (uh, remember WMD?) and subterfuge, but by those who have never served this country. How dare them? (We never hear about the WMD do we?) Many of us "liberals and progressives," understood that there were no WMD to begin with. There were thousands protesting, arrested for wanting PEACE. For believing in the sanctity of life. We also understood that these lives were being taken for the Bush GOP regime and for no one else.
We hear so much from the Bush GOP and their TV and radio shock jocks about their freedom of speech . . . speech without accountability. However, any other citizen in this country would have been arrested and jailed for some of the same type of rhetoric that we have been accustomed to hearing from these shameful people who will do or say anything for a Bush GOP buck. I'm thankful that I can remember the day when these types were not a part of this country's idea of sensible and news worthy media.
The most Americans today realize that this is not their Republican Party, the conservative opposition for balance, just as many of us Democrats are realizing that we have a party with some of those who are Bush Republican supporters, which also upsets the balance of a true working democracy. These are the Democratic so-called Blue Dogs. Today, we could call them the blue-blooded Blue Dogs.
Money and power . . . that's what our military and our National Guard died for, and if the US government can't muster enough gumption to bring about accountability for these crimes . . . we, US citizens, weren't the only country brought into the illegal invasion/occupation of Iraq. Maybe all of the other countries that were talked or bullied into helping the Bush GOP with this invasion, will demand accountability. The US was a proud supporter of the Nuremberg trials . . . we Americans want investigations and we want the "truth." We want to be proud again.
Trust is important, especially in US law and US government. We citizens who have to abide by the laws of this land in order to have a working democracy, have to have US law in US government and we have gone too many years, since Nixon, without it. Call it an irony or not, these same people are still committing crimes. Years and years of crimes against our own and other countries.
It's all been said before and still this country is stuck in our own governmental craig-mire (highs and lows) of excuses for allowing these injustices to continue, and many innocent people have paid for these injustices, hundreds of thousands of lives destroyed by a few in US government. We Americans have been witness to watching while our own government turns its back on these crimes as if that is going to make them go away.
After all of these years . . . "it ain't a gonna happen." This was too much, too many lives, too many crimes that have caused so much debt (highest ever in our country), death (in the millions), and destruction of two countries, including one of our own cities, New Orleans . . . no one has paid the price for those lives and the needless destruction of that city due to incompetence in US government. The same incompetence that led this country into Iraq and Afghanistan. These are too serious, too much debt, death, and destruction to allow them to just be forgotten and fade away.
We Americans cannot trust a government that allows this to happen. Democrats and Republicans who have been responsible and supported these crimes must be made accountable for this country to even begin to recover from these many losses.
"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic." -- John F. Kennedy, Address, Yale University, 1962.
As President Kennedy is quoted, it is the myth, and that is what we are hearing every single day from the Bush GOP and their supporters, myths. And, as we have learned through the years, the Bush GOP think that if they repeat their myths enough, they will become the truth.
Haven't we Americans heard enough and seen enough debt, death, and destruction . . . today, we need justice. Real justice. We need the truth. As been said before, the truth will put the criminals in jail and set the rest of this country free. And, as an added hope, shut the rest of the Bush GOP the hell up.
