When Did the Gormless GOP Congress Become A Cult of Greed and Violence?
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
BuzzFlash,
The item below was in the news and prompted this article. I thought the Eighties were bad, and that there should have been accountability for such leadership, but instead, Reagan was made a hero and Clinton let Bush number one off the hook. Which leads us to the Republican Congress, Cheney, Rove, and Bush number two, to the present. Same GOP, same ideology, and in comparison . . . Humpty Dumpty looked in better shape after his fall than this country looks today. And, again, it will take the courage and willingness of the American people to put us back together again. We cannot depend on this Republican Party in Congress or the Republican governors, who, by their own actions and admissions, still remain loyal to the Bush regime instead of to the American people, to do the right thing . . . because they didn't and they haven't.
BATON ROUGE, La. – A handful of Republican governors are considering turning down some money from the federal stimulus package, a move opponents say puts conservative ideology ahead of the needs of constituents struggling with record foreclosures and soaring unemployment.Though none has outright rejected the money available for education, health care and infrastructure, the governors of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alaska, South Carolina and Idaho have all questioned whether the $787 billion bill signed into law this week will even help the economy.
We American citizens don't give much thought to cults unless they get into the news and do something tragic, such as the most well-known cults have done in the past, cults, who have committed murder and suicides. Off the cuff, I'll try not to go into lengthy details because we all know them, but let's think back to those years when the Clintons were in the White House, and the only cooperation President Clinton got from the Bush GOP back then was when he gave into their ideas. We had NAFTA and a debt from the previous Bush regime, as well as debt, deaths, and destruction in Iraq fighting Saddam during the first Gulf invasion . . . along with the fact that aside from what it would do to this country's reputation around the world, that same Bush GOP Congress made us all look like a bunch of idiots when the Republican legislature impeached Clinton for a sexual dalliance, and as we learned much later, at the same time, Gingrich was getting ready to dump one wife and already having an affair with another woman.
Those eight years of lies and innuendoes and the constant Bush GOP war against the Clinton administration, which we had to read about in big guy media, or listen to GOP shock jocks on radio every single day . . . I was turned completely off from that very media, as all of it turned out to be lies. No longer would I ever take the major US media's word for anything. Filthy Bush GOP lies with investigations to make them seem real. No fear of accountability for what they put this nation through, and again, as always, the taxpayers paid for it. Then, if that wasn't enough, President Gore won the election in 2000, and the GOP Supreme Court put their man into the White House, and broke the law to do it.
That action was never challenged. For the next eight years, because Bush was put into office a second time by election fraud, and still a Congress who failed to go after accountability . . . we have had nothing but 100% backing of the Republican Party for everything the Bush/Cheney/Rove administration asked for, which resulted in the highest debt ever in this country. Tax cuts for the wealthy. Jobs sent overseas. Constant deregulation, privatization, and legislation all supported 100% by the Republican Party in Congress until their house of US government built only of cards, all fell down at once.
Now, we can't get investigations into real crimes of invasion/occupation, torture, and fraud that the US, under the Bush regime, committed in Iraq, a country that never was a threat to the US, committed in Afghanistan, and committed while one of our favorite cities, New Orleans, was put to death, due to complete incompetence by the same Bush GOP administration.
A country can only take so much of that kind of single-minded, self-gratification, and for the last 30 years, this Bush GOP political cult finally managed to bring US government to a complete financial standstill. Imagine that, Americans, they spent money, took money, gave out no-bid contracts to their friends and supporters, until every type of crime or lie we could imagine, and many that I'm sure we could not imagine even in our wildest dreams, was done to this country, again, with 100% support of the Republican Party in Congress, along with big guy media doing their advertising for them, spreading their propaganda through the news, making them sound legitimate.
Today, the US has hit a financial bottom from Wall Street to the banks, to the job market, while US troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, and New Orleans is still in disarray. The mess created by the Bush GOP and their supporters in Congress has to be unimaginable to the rest of this nation, except, for the fact that we citizens are going to feel the brunt of those continuous eight years of political tyranny that have been used against this country.
So what is a cult? People, average Americans, probably don't realize it or think about it too much, but there are political cults. When President Obama hit the ground running and was trying to get a head start in solving this mess that the Bush GOP administration, along with the GOP in Congress, were responsible for, they stood up against this country again, as a solid unit of political action against the people of this country, and as a solid wall against President Obama. Examine their actions for yourselves. Also, get an idea of why they should be considered as a cult instead of as members of Congress doing the work for the people of this country. I think that we, the people of this country, spoke unmistakably and clearly during the last election. Don't you?
The word "cult" describes a relationship between a leader and a group, or
less commonly between a pair of individuals, where the leader utilizes the
techniques of thought reform. A cult will be characterized by these two
behaviors:1. It does not tell the truth about itself.
2. By means of unrestricted use of psychological and social control
techniques, it makes its members unable to resist its influence and
authority. (snip)
While most cult leaders become wealthy, the aim of these groups is
to acquire power over others.
Outline for a Talk on Cults, Thought Reform and Mind Abuse (Trinity Communications/The Catholic Resource Network)
Just a couple of articles about cults and the behaviors of cults. Can any of us Americans, Democrats or Republicans, give a reasonable excuse for the Republicans in Congress, employees of the people, and their behavior to stand united against the stimulus package which was watered down to please them in the first place, which may not be enough to start our economy moving again, yet, they are the cause of these problems, due, especially, to the last eight years of complete support for the Bush criminal and treasonous regime?
Bush and his cohorts in crime refused to act and protect this country before 911. They did warn a few people not to fly commercial airlines. That, in itself, was a treasonous act against their oaths of office. They took that horrible act of violence after 911, and used violence against the innocent people in Afghanistan and then invaded Iraq against all reasoning, saying they were looking for WMD. Is there any thinking American who hasn't realized by now that if Bush thought Saddam had WMD, he would never have invaded Iraq, because Saddam was the type of guy who would have used them, and that would have made Bush look like a fool, however, WMD or not, Bush was and still is a sociopathic fool. He doesn't feel a thing about these problems he has caused, and he never will unless he is given the awakening of a trial.
War for profit. Think about it back then, when Bush landed on that ship, with everything except a Superman cape, all a media show . . . tore down a statue of Saddam, all the while, the media pounded the drums and supported this treasonous regime . . . eight long years of debt, death, and destruction without accountability and these actions have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. And, as the flag-draped coffins of Americans arrived home, they forbid any pictures or news reports. Why? So, people would be completely ignorant of the deaths, and the number of deaths, which, to this day, with the wounded and the dead, we still aren't sure. It never was about protecting the privacy of the families of these soldiers. They couldn't care less. If they did care, our military would not have been put them into a criminal invasion of shock and awe in the first place.
Their lives, along with the lives of the Iraqi people meant nothing to these Republicans running this violent show. The members of our own Congress supported these horrendous acts of violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, multiplying the hatred for the US by the hundreds of thousands. Bush never did go after bin Laden. He was a friend of that family, which to Bush, surely meant a certain amount of loyalty to that family. Because Bush, himself, is very big on loyalty, that is the way he chose the individuals who filled about 3,000 jobs in his administration. Loyalty above all else.
Judging from the behavior of the Republican members of Congress, they do not feel that they should support any attempt to bring this country back from total destruction. And, they are going around the TV circuit talking against a program that we Americans actually have no choice . . . it has to be done because of what they have done to this country. It's insanity and leadership at its worst. But, hey, that is how all of our problems came about . . . leadership at its worst.
They (Bush/Cheney and the GOP in Congress) think the American people are stupid. Then, to support the racism in this Bush GOP political cult, we had the cartoon this week of police killing a chimpanzee, which people said, well Bush was called a chimp . . . yes, but there was never any violent cartoon regarding Bush. If there had been, the person or media responsible probably would have been arrested, because people got arrested for protesting, for tee shirts, for bumper stickers, and activists' names were planted around the country at every airport to be harassed, not to forget the invasion of privacy by listening in on Americans' phone calls. Doesn't that type of governing sound cultist and abusive in nature? It sure isn't American democratic ideology.
After the Clinton years, and after the criminal actions of the Supreme Court and the election fraud during both elections, plus the following eight years of doing just what they wanted to do regardless of the consequences that we Americans are suffering from today . . . make your own judgments. Americans, this criminal Bush GOP have always told us to take care of ourselves, nothing has been more clear than that with their continuous troglodyte behavior in doing the work for the people of these United States.
We can take care of ourselves by getting rid of these selfish, self-serving political hacks with a cult mentality, whose real loyalty has always been to themselves and to the Bush/Cheney/Rove ideology, and to those Republicans, such as Gingrich, of yesterday. The noise these Republicans in Congress are making today is all about their own fears of losing the power in government to do whatever the hell they want to do and it has nothing at all to do with working for the American people. It's all about greed and power.
With these substandard substitutes for the GOP we knew of years ago, who played an important part in government, and who used to represent a balance of power in Congress, such as President Eisenhower's era, a president, who also warned us Americans about the danger of a runaway military complex . . . will the discourse and belief system of that Republican Party join all of the other ancient lost languages of yesterday, or will the American people speak out against these members of Congress who have, not only voted against the people of this country, but bear the full responsibility of where we are today? We Americans need the openness of discussion, and of honest, intelligent debate, not the rigidity of a wealthy Republican ruling class in Congress, who relish using a demagogic tyranny in order to control the people of this country.
We've had that for eight long years already!
Just a thought,
Thanks BuzzFlash,

How to end the GOP cult
We need to break up the giant corporate media companies. They are the cheerleaders and most fervent promoters of the GOP cult. There is no competition in the media now. A hand full of companies own almost all of the TV, radio and cable stations, major newspapers and magazines.
They are really good at promoting the GOP agenda. Look at the talking head and news shows, news coverage and editorial pages. With a couple of exceptions on MSNBC, they all lean hard-right in their tone and right-wing GOP guests far outnumber moderates or Democrats. We don't have a market place of ideas any more, we have monopoly control.
Even MSNBC
Don't Vote GOP!
