Slaving Over the Stingy Stimulus ... And, Sweating Greed

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

"True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made." -- Franklin D. Roosevelt, message to Congress January 11, 1944.

Bush and the GOP understood very well the above quote and did everything possible to make it a truth. "Their cup of greed runneth over." And for all of those Republicans with full bellies:

"Love and business and family and religion and art and patriotism are nothing but shadows of words when a man's starving." -- O. Henry, Heart of the West, 1907.

Yes, they tell us this stimulus package is Bush GOP-approved (whew, we all feel better now -- a sarcastic remark), and it will be passed. Divide and conquer wins again, with the Centrists holding up the Bush GOP's voting end.

Listening to the news with Republicans still talking about how this nation needs more tax cuts -- a stupid idea that has never worked in thirty years, however, it does put money into their pockets, but why are they complaining, as reported on the news, 242 billion dollars are going into tax cuts, instead of into the pockets of Americans. Cash spends much easier, faster, and fills the bellies of the hungry and the poor. It puts needed medicine in those homes, and those who have lost everything these past few months, such as their homes and their savings, they could use a buck or two, too.

Why should we continue to be bipartisan with failed economic measures such as tax cuts? Along with that, gas prices are rising again, 19 cents a gallon in just 30 days,  with an average nationwide of $1.95, and I've said before that the Bush GOP will get their money back one way or another after they lowered gas prices before the election and during the holidays, to soften up the economy, a little too late to really do much good for some who had already lost their jobs and their businesses due to paying such outrageous gas prices. However, they are rising while the oil has hit a low price of $35.00 a barrel, down from that $100.00 a barrel, while Bush was lounging in the Oval Office, still looking around his desk for WMD.

The crazy theory that still lives in this country in the minds of many in Congress, is that, those American citizens who have not been chosen as the "upper class" must work for nothing, slave labor, and they don't deserve the good life or anything near it. Not only that, they must weather the ill health, job loss, food loss any which way they can, because Congress doesn't give a damn. They don't feel that they are responsible for the American people and their suffering.

The US government, such as the Centrists (or moderates as some think, but actually the real words are "wishy-washy") and the Bush GOP, oh yeah, the Bush GOP are still running the show in Congress. We Americans must put them in their place. And, where is that? At home, out of work, and not in Congress, where they are supposed to be doing the people's work. How many members in Congress became millionaires after they became members of that elite group, I wonder.

It's years and years past the time for the American people to start voting for themselves when they vote for their member of Congress. Where were these Centrists and Conservatives when we had the last eight years of the Bush GOP regime running up tabs due to killing people in two countries, for no reason, ripping off the American people with legislation, firing and hiring illegally, allowing the drowning of New Orleans while the rest of the country watched ... just name the crime and it's there somewhere in our own government, and so far, very little accountability ... now, after eight years, these failures have brought this country down on its knees on top of the backs of all of us Americans. We didn't do this. It's happened because of the last thirty years of no accountability in US government ... and especially these last eight years of ramped up greed for more power, privilege, and payola.

We keep hearing and reading messages that the Conservative GOP is dead. Don't believe it for a minute. They are not dead. We couldn't kill that Party even after driving a stake into the heart of it. They just want people to think they are being bipartisan, and after they have had their way with the Democrats in Congress, they will blame them when all fails, calling them prostitutes and whores. Hell, before the election, they were trying to blame the Democratic Party for all of the debt, death, and destruction caused by the Bush GOP administration.

What the Democrats don't need are the Democratic Centrists, (those who first put their finger up to see which way their money flow is blowing, then vote) ... they just take up room in the Democratic Party and keep real Democrats from holding such offices, they are also known as Blue Dogs. They used to have their own little club in DC, maybe they still do, and are proud of being the Democrats with the stripes down their backs who help out the criminally greedy Bush GOP. We don't have to wonder if any of these Bush GOP supporters have a conscience. They do not.

We have to ask ourselves why should such people be allowed to hold any office in a supposedly democratic government? It's time for them to go. They are easy to recognize. They never want to give to the poor, the needy, children, jobless, education, women, or even raise the minimum wage. They believe in people working for nothing, and working for their benefit. After all, they never fail to vote for their own pay raise, benefits, health care, perks. We cannot expect them to ever feel the American citizens' pain that they have caused, or even empathize, but we can make them pay for it.

Years ago at a fish fry, I remember a politician telling me that the only reason he was running for office was for the connections he would make in DC ... I thought to myself, now, there is either the first honest politician that I have ever run into or the most stupid. However, I did notice that he didn't mention his real ambition in his speech that evening. We Americans are fools if we keep putting up with such people.

We Americans have to break the bondage that ties our lives directly to the votes in Congress. They (Republicans and Centrists, who are not Democrats) don't give a damn about the American people unless they are coming up for reelection. Just read about Representative Cantor below. How does someone like him keep getting elected? Not surprisingly, the GOP southern states are usually the worst off for employment, benefits, etc., and will probably get the most money. Why do these people keep voting against themselves? Why? Do they not read? Or, do they only read the GOP MSM and listen to Fox News on TV?  Which brings me to the idea that there should be accountability for news stations that lie. Take them off the air, that too belongs to the American people.

We know that this stimulus package is so thinned down that the GOP are happy and when they are happy, we Americans should also realize that it's not enough to take care of the real problems that have come about due to their own Republican leadership, and the loyalty of every single Republican in Congress for eight long years, and we must give credit to those Democrats, who call themselves "Centrists."

We have had too many leading economists telling us that the stimulus package should be twice the size, and tax cuts, even the most brain dead in this country understand that they don't feed anybody, only fill the pockets of the wealthy, and if the plan fails, they will blame President Obama. These are not the Republicans for bipartisanship. They should get all of the blame for bringing about these problems, instead of trying to get them to cooperate, which is beyond my own comprehension.
The Bush GOP and their supporters will always be a negative force that we should not have to deal with after eight long years of living with their failures. None of these people could possibly ever, ever understand what it is to be hungry, losing a home, losing a job, living in a family car, living in shacks, in trailers framed with formaldehyde, in ghettos with the stench of every kind of decay ... without a nickel in one's pocket ... no, we don't need these people voting on how to solve the problems that they created. We wouldn't have these problems if they ever gave a damn. Not one of these Republicans in Congress ever stood up against the spending and the thrill killing of the Bush administration. Not one!

House GOP Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) has remained silent on his office’s profane response to a coalition supporting working people and job creation. Cantor apparently directed his spokesperson to apologize in his stead. The apology was accepted by AFSCME President Gerald McEntee whose members the profanity laced video was ridiculing.

No comment has been issued by religious right leaders who have praised Cantor as the co-sponsor of the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act. The religious right has not been shy about questionable alliances in the past as they have praised Washington Times owner the Rev. Sung Myung Moon who claimed to be sent to Earth to fulfill the mission Jesus failed to complete.

Clearly Rep. Cantor is in an impossible position, as he must be elected every two years and advertising his hatred for workers is clearly not a winning formula.

I don't hear anybody in Congress having a fit about the Madoffs, who, it's being said, are still living in luxury. Maybe even going to Bush GOP parties. Eh? In this world of greed, they are considered a success, I guess. If we had a true Republican Party and a true Democratic Party where they would balance each other's power ... but, this is the real world and we don't have either one
The wife of disgraced money manager Bernard Madoff withdrew more than $15 million from a firm co-owned by her husband — including $10 million on the day their children turned her husband over to authorities for overseeing an alleged $50 billion Ponzi scheme, the top securities regulator in Massachusetts said Wednesday.

Official: Wife pulled $15M before Madoff's arrest
We want to see a government that takes care of the people. It's the people's government. Review Michael Moore's film "Sicko." That's another way to feel sick and a revulsion of what we should be with a pure Democratic Congress (and that does not include "Centrists,"). and why we are not the nation the American people want, however, Canada is, Britain is, and so go the French.

How much was spent on the embassy in Iraq? How much was spent on the Green Zone in Iraq? How much money (cash) was sent over to Iraq in bricks? These greedy people in DC, who never tried to stop the Bush GOP spending, failed in their jobs and failed the American people ... spending that had nothing to do with this country or any improvements, healthcare, education, jobs, etc., can only relate to their own wealth, and they think they own this government. They do not believe that they work for the American people. We have to take back our government. Why would President Obama think that he could bail this country out with the very people who have tried to bury us in debt, death, and destruction, and they didn't feel a thing, until now? We don't want them, and we damn sure don't need them. They are killing us, one election at a time.

Oh, and to Representative Cantor ...  an unapologetic back attcha. You need to be replaced. I just hope when your election comes up that those people, who you are supposed to represent, put you out on your behind. When I speak of class in this country, real class ... they are the people you cursed at. The working class. You, Mr. Cantor, regardless of your financial worth, have no class.

"Society comprises of two classes: those who have more food than appetite, and those who have more appetite than food." -- Chamfort (d.1794). Maximes

Two places that need to be slashed (cut out) in the US budget are the US military and our US Congress expenditures (perks). Let them pack their lunch, walk to work, and take a pay cut. Those two cuts would feed this country, take care of all of the healthcare, free up education, with money left over.
Just a thought,
Thanks BuzzFlash,
