Conservatism: Debt, Death, and Destruction By Way Of Tax Cuts
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
BuzzFlash,
Where this country and we Americans are today is due partly because of the "let bygones be bygones, turn the other cheek, go-along to get-along" thinking, led by the Democratic leadership in Congress. Every President who really was dedicated to this country has had to fight what is a misnomer: "Conservatism." The Republican Party is responsible for everything that is wrong with this country today because they are not conservative when it comes to using and misusing their power to yield wealth and comfort for themselves, and to hell with what their jobs are, which is working for the American people. How can anyone refuse to face the facts that this country has the highest debt ever in US history, and say that they are "conservative?"
All of this is pure propaganda that the Republican MSM, corporations who benefit from the Bush GOP, and anyone else who gets money from invasions/occupations and tax cuts spew out, not to forget to mention the frequent fraud that is allowed and ignored from no-bid contracts, something the US government was never allowed to do, and this all has been done without any intention of stopping until the US finally hit bottom, which is where we are today. We had to hit bottom before it stopped. Those in Congress should be lucky enough to understand how it feels to lose their jobs and their money. Everything made off of Iraq and Afghanistan, and New Orleans, should be confiscated in the same way US government treats the drug cartel. Because this type of illegal greed at any cost is a drug.
"What is Conservatism? Is it not adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried?" -- Abraham Lincoln (1809-65) US statesman, Speech 27 Feb 1860.
Even President Lincoln had to fight these greedy crooks. It's been common knowledge and can't be said enough that "tax breaks" do nothing but line the pockets of those who, in this country, don't want to pay their way. Our problems today, all started thirty years ago with a Republican White House that was not stopped then, which has led this country into an invasion/occupation of two countries -- 800 military bases around the world -- the largest part of US budget goes to the waste of military power. How does that make us any different from any other country that has tried to rule the world in the past?
"The United States may become the first great power to falter because it lost its ability to collect taxes." -- American Bar Association, Wall Street Journal, April 10, 1984.
Today, after thirty to forty years of Republican rule, we can't compete with third world countries, and those members in Congress who always supported Bush, refuse to do what's right. President Obama should refuse to listen to any of them and change that stimulus package so that it will do the job it was intended to do, instead of trying to please those who have caused such problems. The public must understand why the US is where we are today, all due to the same type of leadership that insisted on tax cuts for the wealthy, invasions/
For instance, how patriotic is it for corporations to close plants in the US, move jobs overseas, due to greed, and sell their products back to the US consumer? How patriotic is that? Corporations should be able to move overseas "only" if they keep their present businesses and jobs here. They can expand, but they don't close the hell up. Why has this been allowed and then wonder why we have job loss and salary loss, and less consumer spending, and the disappearance of our middle class? Duh?
Most of these problems don't take big brains to figure out. Most Americans can understand why we are where we are today, and why Congress doesn't want to fix those problems. It didn't stop this Congress from voting for their own salary raises, when most all of them are millionaires to billionaires. To stop the greed, we have to get it out of our own government first.
Yes, we, out in the mother land, understand why we are where we are today. We begged the Democratic leadership to do something, anything to try and stop the destruction of this country by the Bush GOP these last eight years, and, they refused. They just wanted to "get along." Everything was shoved under the table and under the rug. We can't have incompetence allowed to have the final say. It was no surprise that these Republicans refused to vote. That's how they have been ruling this country for years. It's either their way or the highway, and when this country is down on its knees, like today, they just walk away with their money and take care of themselves. Why do we need a Congress as useless as those in the past have been? We don't.
These are the same Republicans who are responsible for this highest debt ever in our history, and they still think they will continue to drive this country to the brink of total disaster, unless they get money back. Unbelievable, but true, which is the same broken pattern that has caused the US to be owned today by China. Americans have to stop voting against themselves. Look at your member of Congress. There should be "NO" tax cuts on that stimulus package. None. It doesn't work, it has never worked and the Bush GOP have been doing it for thirty years.
I'm not a psychiatrist or a psychologist; however, the reason these wealthy to rich people are committing suicide after losing their money is because this Republican society judges people by the number of dollars they have, and they also tell people, other than themselves, pull yourselves up, do your own thing, you are responsible for yourself, which is a way of saying that, "as long as we the GOP are in charge of the money, we don't fix the country, give to the poor, we keep it to ourselves, we don't even pay the bills, we sell our debts to other countries ... and those types who buy into this, even though, their connections help to make the fast money, think they are only worthy to a good life if they have money ... lots of money.
They identify with their money and what it does for them. And, if they lose that money, they lose their identity. Many, like Bush, think they have earned the privilege to never work for their money, use laws and legislation to get whatever they can from those without the power to stop them. Sad. Being poor is no fun, but, it takes courage to survive as a poor person in this country that puts the worth of the person in dollars and cents. The Republican ideology is all about money.
This type of greed where people identify with their money is why we are where we are today. It has been entirely forgotten that US government is of, by, and for the people, but to this type of thinking they tell the world to do it yourselves while at the same time deregulation, privatization, and legislation have put much money into deep pockets, and they actually believe they did it themselves. They did it by misusing and abusing their power.
Look at the bailout for Wall Street and the banks, then look at how many people lost their homes due to the banks that they trusted. Then look at the Bush GOP balking in Congress to help out the majority of Americans. A very telling picture of who our Congress really cares about.
Most Americans, I believe, are survivors of hard times, but we Americans must also believe that we are the backbone of this country, and we need to realize that at the polls. Vote for yourselves, not these people who think that only the wealthy, the rich and powerful are worthy citizens of this country. Many should stop and remember the eighties, which was also brought about by Republican leadership.
Still, it's mostly on Main Street, not Wall Street, that people are being driven to once unthinkable extremes. And while it's always impossible to know the myriad factors, including deeply personal ones, that contribute to drastic acts, violent or otherwise, many of those recently reported are undoubtedly tied, at least in part, to the way the bottom seems to be falling out of the economy.
Those types are easily found out, not one of them voted for the stimulus package, which if it really is a stimulus package, it should be large and without any tax cuts at all. We have economists for this, where in the hell are they? Another thing, we don't need is the good ole' boy, get along, Clintonomics either. If President Clinton had done his job by making the Reagan/Bush leadership accountable, instead of "trying" so hard to be liked by the Bush GOP, and constantly giving in to them, we wouldn't have had Bush number two to worry about, which means, the Supreme Court wouldn't have had the gall to put a Republican back into office, breaking their own laws to do so, and President Clinton wouldn't have been impeached for a sexual dalliance (never mind an illegal and treasonous invasion/occupation of Iraq, they make money off of war) by these same Bush Republicans who are still in office.
What this country needs more than ever today is accountability. Every one of those Republicans who refused to vote for a stimulus package are also guilty of putting this county into the shape we are in today. Why don't they just pack up and go home? Republicans can't do government. The only thing they know how to do is to bring this country into debt, start wars and kill off our younger generations by strutting around the planet with weaponry, (GOP penis extenders for wealthy, fat and sassy white guys, sitting at oversized, expensive, empty desks), and use it to make profits, then take giant tax cuts and when it all goes wrong, they still can't take responsibility for their actions, and who in the hell wants to keep voting for these people?
What we need today is not just a stimulus package without tax cuts, but a constant dialogue on why we are where we are today, then we need a constant pursuit of accountability. Republicans will have a choice to either step down due to their guilt, or step up and try to fix the problems that have been caused by their greed. It's all too simple. Undo every single thing Bush did in the White House and that would be a good start. Wipe the slate clean.
And, for every member of the Bush GOP who refuse to help, they need to be targeted every day until their next election. I can't believe that the poor people of this nation, if they realize the truth, will keep putting these greedy incompetents back into government, if they really care about themselves and their loved ones. This type of conservatism is a joke, and not a funny one, it has cost lives and livelihoods. Every time we have Republicans in charge of US government, the Democrats have to clean up their mess. When is this insanity going to stop? That's the question, not this idea of bipartisanship with conservative criminals.
