Proof Was In The Holiday Puddings -- Gasoline Price Again on the Rise

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

Now, as expected and as predicted, (by me and probably others) gas prices are zooming back up. Not because of Gaza or any of the other excuses we are hearing about or reading about in MSM, but because of the oil and gas oligarchies. Why did gas go down before the holidays? To increase spending by US citizens for the corporations who depend on the holiday sales for the profits of the coming year.

Remember, the oil and gas companies made the largest profits ever ... EVER in their history due to the Bush GOP's policies. They took gas prices up so high that many people were forced out of business, at a time when gas in Iran was reported to be .09 cents a gallon. Of course, that wasn't reported in any US paper or TV station. Many US citizens, who were truck drivers were forced to quit their jobs.

A full tank of gas in a small tank, such as 20 gallons, took a week's salary for many people whose salaries are still much like those 30 years ago. And, unless a person lives in the cities where there are other transportation or choices, it still was a hardship on the whole nation, brought about by loyalists of the Bush GOP (notice that none of them, including Bush, cut down on their travel). Paid for by the same US citizens who couldn't afford to travel ... yes, the prices are going up again, and these greedy dollar worshippers (anything for a buck) will recover all of the profit they gave up during the holidays ... so, until there is accountability in US government, and until US government "acts" like a true government of a democracy, that actually "works" for the people of this country ... the pilfering and raping of this country and of its citizens will continue. We have a "class" problem in this country today, where the wealthy think they own this country and it is for them to rule, to hell with the rest of us.

Just one of many costs thrown out for US citizens, who are not responsible for any of these money problems in US government, or responsible for any of the other problems, which cause the dysfunction of US government, such as the Bush GOP's debt, death, and destruction for the last thirty years ... except for their votes. Voting for a Republican today is throwing your money away, especially those who supported the Bush GOP's war against the world and this country for eight long years. That vote is a vote against democracy ... and a vote against accountability. Accountability for treason.

The only Americans who ever pay, so far, are those who are sucked into treasonous invasions/occupations, and pay with their lives and those who are stuck with the debt, pay with their livelihoods, when US citizens, and all citizens around the world, just want to live out their lives, enjoy their families, make a decent living.

What will these companies do with their oil and gas profits? Invest in the ripping up of the rest of this country's resources, any which way they can. There is nothing so sacred in this land that a buck made in profit, those in charge won't think twice about desecrating. Never mind about investing in clean energy ... with dirty money, we can't expect too much from any of those who supported the Bush GOP's treasonous reign of terror.

They don't understand the difference between loyalty to a dysfunctional Party and loyalty to their oaths of office and to this country. They don't understand it, not because of their lack of the ability to understand, but because of their greed for money and power. Which is what has ruled this country for the last thirty years. And, US citizens shouldn't have to pay with their lives and their livelihoods for that greed.

Just a thought,

Shirley Smith

To me the math is simple...

Gas prices dropped dramatically prior to the election, gee what a surprise!!! (NOT) Now the oil companies are bringing them back up as Obama comes into office. Another big suprise (NOT). I also do not think it's a big secret that the oil companies and the Rethugs are just two of the many corporate and political pustules who are in bed together enjoying the orgy of screwing the average Joe and Joette.

Don't be surprised when the days of +$4.00 a gallon return, it's only a matter of time...

Not So Fast!

I have to disagree with you that Gaza isn't a factor in the recent rise of gas prices at the pump

The OPEC nations almost all have large Muslim populations if they aren't exclusively so. Many of these Muslim populations are very restive under the rule of oppressive oligarchic dictatorships which do not allow public expression unless it meets with the needs of the ruling clique. Such is the case today.

OPEC cannot be seen as doing nothing in the face of the Israeli attack against Gaza, yet they cannot "punish" the United States' support for Israel by hiking gas prices precipitously as they had in 1974 and 1979. To do so would reignite the latent alternative energy discussion which has once again been stilled by lower gas prices. By raising slightly the wholesale wellhead crude price, they do affect the price at the pump. The oil companies will raise retail prices at the slightest hint of a wholesale increase, and as we all know too well such an increase adversely affects the US economy.

OPEC rulers thus get three immediate benefits: they can claim to their subjects that they are making the "Great Satan" pay for Israeli perfidy, and they don't cause their best addicts - er, customers to find newer, better, and especially cheaper energy resources. Lastly, by being able to point to the oild companies as being the price-raisers, they escape the blame. For them, it's a win-win-win situation. They could care less about the rest of us.

Gas Prices DROPPED Pre Election

In MD where I gas live prices where huge in June and July and August. My oil tanks were way low and folks were telling me, "oh you better buy now, prices could go to $8.00 (price for heating oil at its height was almost $5 a gallon). I told myself that the oil pigs would drop the price pre-election so voters wouldn't have that sour grape stuck to their shoe om November 4th. I was right come October price starts to drop and by October 31st when I got my oil it had dropped $3 a gallon. Of course the oil pigs couldn't raise it the next day when Obama won and I'm sure the Oligharchy wanted to lull everyone into a false sense of security for holiday shopping and before the economic meltdown came to full light. Unfortunately, we are at their mercy and until we nationalize the Oil Companies to serve a purpose of achieving sustainable energy for all, with all profits, we are toast. Imagine the capabilities of an energy system that was non-profit (no this does not mean they cannot make a profit for R&D and research etc.,) and did not have to pay absurd CEO salaries or be a slave to 'shareholder profits' which can only be achieved through the exploitation of people and resources. The oil companies will jack it up, just wait.
