The Bush GOP's Fellowship With Felon Swells (Gentleman Convicts)

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

Democracy and Civil Rights . . . The Right to Safety and Security of Person. The Right to Equality of Opportunity. The Right to Citizenship and its Privileges. The Right to Freedom of Communication and Expression. The President's Commission on Civil Rights. 1947.

When Americans pay their debt to society, they should be allowed to vote. They still have the same rights as all other American citizens. Our prisons should be for those who are a danger to society, yes, but we have thousands in prison who are not a danger to society. They should be woven back into the fabric of society as worthy human beings. And, then there are those who should not have had to go to prison at all. The Bush GOP is two-faced when it comes to the felons in our society. If they are in government and are Republicans, they are treated differently than if they are American citizens who are thought to predominately vote Democratic.

Two days after he was convicted on seven felony counts in Washington, Senator Ted Stevens returned to Alaska on Wednesday night to begin a six-day campaign sprint, telling several hundred supporters at a rally here that he would be vindicated on appeal and asking them to elect him to a seventh term.

George Bush Jr. has appointed numerous felons and others from the Iran Contra scandal to prominent positions in his current administration. He has suspiciously appointed Iran-contra insider, Lee Hamilton, to head the 9-11 investigation after a failed attempt to appoint wanted war criminal Henry Kissinger. His advisors in Latin American affairs are none other than Otto Reich and Roger Noriega. Both implicated in Iran-Contra and behind the recent coup in Haiti. Some people may not really be all that clued in on what happened during the Iran-Contra scandal. So I decided to put together this timely graphic in effort to explain what happened and why his dealings with these people, at a time when government honesty is so crucial, should be held under close scrutiny.

George W Bush appointing Iran contra felons

The joint report on disenfranchised felons renewed attention to an issue that triggered a furor in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections in Florida. The Republican-controlled Florida Secretary of State's Office purged tens of thousands of mostly African-American felons from voter-registration lists in 2000, allegedly by performing computer matches with inaccurate or racially discriminatory master lists. An outcry from election watchdogs halted a similar purge in 2004.

It's hard enough for those who have paid their debt to society to get jobs and to voice their opinions politically, unless they are loyal Republicans. Stevens hasn't paid his debt to society, and doesn't think he will have to. Criminal activity in the Bush GOP government seems almost normal today, it's been going on for over 30 years, and many American citizens refuse to acknowledge the horrors that this Bush administration has caused in our name.

Taking this country to the extreme, Congress and members of the Republican Party (Including McCain and Palin) treat this Bush administration as if it were a normal run-of-the-mill democratic government . . . if an administration can get away with lying the US into an invasion/occupation without fear of accountability . . . the Bush GOP regime has been the administration of "anything goes." We have listed these crimes over and over, and still according to the polls, people are committed to vote Republican, because that's what they are used to doing.

Law abiding citizens condoning the criminal activities of the Bush GOP administration. Yes, voting for McCain and Palin is condoning the Bush GOP. These Republican Bush supporters are not the Republican Party and haven't been since Nixon. Over one million dead and millions of our fellow human beings displaced, in Iraq, Afghanistan and New Orleans giving us the highest debt ever for this country . . . and, this administration never slowed down during eight long years, using US government for their personal gains.

Without law and order, without justice in US government, how can we Americans expect any justice for ourselves? The highest debt, death, and destruction is not justice for the American people. The highest prison population ever is not justice for the American people. US Presidents allowed to pardon those who could testify against them is not justice for the American people.

When such crimes in US government have gone unpunished and nothing but lies and empty rhetoric keep coming from both Republican candidates . . . wouldn't every vote placed for Republicans be a vote condoning such crimes? A vote against law and order? Against democracy? A vote of indifference . . . not caring for the sacredness of others' lives or the life of our own planet?

If the Bush GOP is allowed to steal this election again, the crimes will continue. They haven't slowed down their legislative war against American citizens for eight years . . . better to have a government in limbo until all election fraud is uncovered, than to have another four years of this criminal fanaticism that reigns supreme in the Bush GOP.
