Sacred Cows and Sacrificial Offerings
MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON
BuzzFlash,
We Americans must believe in these words by FDR in a speech, Marietta, Ohio, July 8, 1938:
Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.
If we Americans listen closely to those who support Hillary Clinton, it seems that Senator Clinton, and the Clinton White House era have become something close to what is known as Sacred Cows. They are not to be questioned, criticized or even held accountable for anything they have or have not done or said.
That's not representative of US democracy or the Democratic Party, however, it does have a similarity to the Bush GOP. It is the duty of every voter to examine the candidates. Listen to what they say and compare it to what they do.
Frankly, after the dirty tricks by the Bush/Rove/Cheney GOP for all of these years, I don't want a candidate who thinks along those lines. People screamed when many of us recognized the subtle racism coming out in the Clinton campaign. That's not the first time. Racism has been used in campaigns for years, and President Clinton used it when he won the Democratic candidacy but found himself behind Bush and Perot. It's been said that he pulled a Reagan, another Sacred Cow in this country, when he spoke to the Rainbow Coalition. Nice.
That's not how the people who believe in the Democratic Party should act, is it? It's not liberal or progressive thinking, and regardless of what people keep hearing, there is no "center" in the Democratic Party. You are either a Democrat or you are not. That's been a failure of this party for the last fifty years. We Democrats have to constantly redefine ourselves because we are being used as a launching pad for many government officials (employees) on their pursuit for greener pastures
We American people have gone far too long in allowing US government to be an independent unit all its own, leaving the people completely out of decisions being made. We also understand that we must take the money out of our elections. For instance, Clinton, during her run for the Senate against Tasini had $45 million against his $150,000. At those prices, it was the money that bought that Senate seat, but whose money was it? Where in the hell did all of that money go, I wonder? I'm so old that I remember when candidates would go home and find out what their people wanted them to do before they voted. They kept in touch. The only time most of our government cares about what we think is during election years. We do have a great number of faithful Democrats in Congress, and we are thankful for them, but we need more of them.
The Clinton era brought the people NAFTA and loss of jobs. Democrats lost their control of Congress during the Clinton era. We had deregulation without representation. Everything the GOP wanted, and still we had to put up with the constant savaging of the Clinton White House.
After that, no accountability. The Clintons did not stand up to the GOP. How tough is that? What is tough about killing innocent people, threatening war, but failing to go after the people who tried to destroy you over nothing?
We American people want what most of the people around the world want ... a life without constant strife given to us by our own governments. We want peace. We want our country back. We want our military back. We want our National Guard back. We want our jobs back. We want our democracy back. Eight hundred bases around the world does not represent a flourishing democracy. Another Sacred Cow, the Pentagon.
Was Lieberman a true Democrat? Well, he's a product of the DLC, as are the Clintons. He has supported McCain and Bush for many years publicly, and denounced the Democratic Party when he didn't get his way. For years and years people have supported him, maybe they weren't all Democrats. After all, Lieberman lives in Bush country, Connecticut. Now, Hillary says she supports McCain for president. Well, she, too, was a supporter of Lieberman, and had hubby, Bill, campaign for him. Why should anyone be surprised?
And, how about those tax statements, Senators Clinton and McCain? Huh?
Senator Clinton has supported the Bush GOP regime time after time, from the invasion to Iraq, to the Lieberman-Kyl Amendment giving the same type of wording as an excuse to use for an attack on Iran, similar to what they pulled with Iraq. Cluster bombs, the kid killer, Hillary still supports this nation sending them overseas to be used against civilians. NAFTA, Hillary was for it before she was against it. She was for, then against, a national health care, then for it again, and she's been well paid by the health care industry. She has opposed the UN, speaking at rallies outside their headquarters. She has spoken out against the International Court of Justice for ruling that the Fourth Geneva Conventions on the Laws of War is legally binding. Of course, that's all in the past, who knows what she will say today about any one of those things? Does any of this sound like a Democratic stance? Does it sound liberal or progressive?
After these horrible eight years of the Bush GOP administration, we don't hear any real criticism or speeches about their crimes coming from Hillary, or even about accountability. Instead, Senator Clinton wants to send her hubby, Bill, around the world with the senior Bush, the one he let off the criminal hook when he was President, as goodwill ambassadors. Is this idea a representation of the Democratic Party?
We Americans can't afford these Sacred Cows, especially when they are in US government. We've had about 50 years of politicians in high places doing their own thing, and sacrificing our democracy, the people's government, in the process. Even Nixon was allowed to step down, but that's hardly considered accountability. No wonder we've had nothing but lawlessness throughout our government for the last fifty years. Eight years of debt, death, and destruction by the Bush GOP administration, without any fear or threats of accountability coming from Republicans or the Democratic leadership. We Americans also can't afford to keep those who support the criminal and treasonous Bush GOP administration, yet, hide behind the banners of the Democratic Party.
We have a young man who wants a chance to make things happen, to bring about change ... a new era. Barrack Obama. And to put up with what he has had to put up with already, he has got to have intestinal fortitude. Maybe he can bring about the change we so desperately need, and maybe he can't, but we don't know that. We do know, however, that he can create a groundswell of grassroots, getting the people involved in the people's government again.
We know what the Bushes and the Clintons can do. They cooperate ... with each other. We don't need dynasties. The Bushes and the Clintons, had their day, and they did what they wanted to, or rather what the Republican Party wanted all of them to do. They all have had lucrative careers in US government ... we'd like to bury that past, especially these last eight years, but the Bush GOP stuck our future generations with a moon size debt, when their education in such a country as the US, should be free as well as their health care.
Our rights have been constantly abused, using terrorism, or the word "security." It's never been about security issues. Everything worked before 911, it was Bush and his administration who failed to warn Americans. The only security issues we Americans should worry about is what has been kept from us, the secrecy within the Bush White House.
We Americans will not allow this government to bury the accountability for these last deadly eight years ... in the US, murder cases are always open for prosecution. Wouldn't over a million dead due to lies fall under that category, and treason as well?
We must speak for the dead. They deserve justice, and we Americans deserve a government without Sacred Cows, and their sacrificial offerings of our Constitution, Bill of Rights, Geneva Conventions, Global Warming, and US law, just to name a few,

Shirley Smith

Hillary would cut progressives off at the knees
I have no idea if Obama's rhetoric will stand up to progressive scrutiny or not. But we know where Hillary stands and that's all I need to know.
Nicely done. Eric -- www.changeany1thing.com
