FOX News is a Turn Off. Return the Favor.

Despite petition after petition, FOX News stands firm as the cesspool of television journalism. Shamelessly, FOX News spreads misinformation, incites intolerance, and manipulates the fears of Americans whose access to other information is limited.

With this documented tradition of deception, it's hard to believe that FOX News is still on the air. But they are. In fact, petitions and public outcry have only helped FOX fan the flames beneath their underinformed viewers. And more viewers equals consistent advertising.

The days of petition are over.

The days of action have begun.

FOX News, like all TV stations, has two weak points: advertisers, and audience. And luckily or us, the advertisers (Color of Change is conducting a great campaign related to Glenn Beck and advertisers) will follow the audience.

Enter the Turn Off FOX campaign.

Part 1: Turn Off Fox in your home. Remove yourself from the reach of their advertisers. There are great watchdog sites that will fill you in on all their wrongdoings, and we'll help keep you informed on what FOX is up to. Get your relatives and friends to turn on alternative news sources.

But here's the heart of the BuzzFlash "Turn Off Fox" campaign:

Part 2: Stop the spread of the FOX cancer by getting it turned off in public places: such as pubs, doctor's offices, airports and restaurants.

FOX enhances its "credibility" by being the default news station in so many public settings. It's up to you to join an army of FOX zappers to change that!

Become an ambassador to decrease the influence of FOX's misinformation and propaganda. This is BuzzFlash's first advocacy project and we need a national guerilla squad of individuals who will join us in various strategies to stop the spread of FOX into public settings.

In the coming months, we'll be advising you on how to ask nicely to change the news channel, leave flyers warning people about FOX "News" damaging brain cells, and many more strategies to come, including a device that can turn TV sets off from up to 50 feet away!

The fewer people exposed to FOX, the fewer viewers. They are a fringe, fanatical, lying network that exists to advance corporate interests by emotionally manipulating economically stressed and racially biased Americans. It's called demagoguery, not news.

So take the pledge now, and become part of the cure for FOX.

Turn Off FOX!!

I've been doing this for years in public places as well as places like doctor's offices - if FOX is on, I ask that it be turned off. No person has ever argued with me about it, although I've gotten dirty looks from a couple of office managers - and who cares about that?

The few places that told me they had FOX on because the business owner insisted on it were told by me that I would no longer bring them my business. And I don't.

I also don't shop at WalMart - haven't in years. It's liberating to choose where your money goes with a little consciousness.
