The divisive screaming and hatred that has enveloped the healthcare debate is enough to make you want to curl up in the fetal position. But when our pal GottaLaff at the highly-recommended blog Political Carnival sent us this picture yesterday afternoon, it made our day.

It also made us wonder: Who is this courageous soul willing to brave the rage of the town hall deathers? Is he a singularly self-aware conservative who sees the error in his party's increasingly crazy ways? Or is he a progressive so fed up with the vitriol that he decided to call the angry mob out for their utter ignorance?

It's obvious that this has been photoshopped. Either the guy is spiderman and doesn't require his fingers to hold that sign or he is holding a smaller sign which is covered over by a larger photoshopped sign that isn't even 3 dimensional looking. I suspect the abolish the government sign as well and one other one based on lighting differences between the majority.

Unfortunately, us "liberals" are HAVING TO STEP UP into this madness... BEAUSE Pres. Obama treacherously ALLOWED the Righty HATE to METASTASIZE, he (Obama) DID NOTHING to SPEAK UP FOR SINGLE PAYER in the past 8 months, and now the Righty media machine is ALL FIRED UP, duh.

HOW BAD is Obama's DERELICTION of DUTY and BETRAYAL of his "GENUINE reform" pledge??

- SO bad, that the President DOES NOT POINT OUT that 90% of the angry town-hallers SCREAMING "WE HATE SOCIALISM," are scared SENIORS... who WOULD be out on the streets, IF NOT FOR Social Security AND MEDICARE !!

Obama IS NOT EVEN TRYING to make this OH-SO-SIMPLE argument, because he (like his Rahm Emanuel/Goldman-Sachs White House) IS NOT ON THE SIDE of Single Payer, expanded-Medicare, or ANY other GENUINE reform !!!!

(It is worse even than that: IT IS THE RIGHTIES who WANT indigent, elderly, and ill people to GO AHEAD AND DIE already, if those vulnerable folks aren't rich enough to have premium 'health insurance' - Obama co. IS LETTING the Right-Wing Hate-Mongers & corporate lobbyists, PAINT US "liberals" AS BEING THE MURDEROUS GHOULS that they, the Righties, really are !!!)

Look, when some THIRTY PERCENT of American households DON'T EVEN HAVE health care... and a huge chunk of the remaining 70% DON'T KNOW if they'll BE CANCELLED, or have claims denied, when they lose a job or reach a medical crisis; SELLING SOME SORT of Medicare-for-all SHOULD BE THE EASIEST SELL in American Political history!
Instead, EVEN WITH THAT 60 VOTE SENATE MAJORITY the we worked our asses off for, Obama is KISSING Repub ASS, HE'S NOT EVEN TRYING to make the argument for expanded Medicare, much less Public-Option, much less Single-Payer.. MUCH LESS FINDING those American families DRIVEN TO BANKRUPTCY by "CLAIMS DENIED,"....

MUCH LESS is Obama FINDING ONE Family WHO HAD A LOVED ONE DIE, after the "DEATH PANEL" Insurance Executives DENIED CARE !!!

I have no idea about a caption. I am puzzled by the sign on the far right about drug testing. That is a bizarre twist amongst all the other anti-government signs, (leaving aside that brave fellow in the center.)

I heard some nutter on the radio about that. I think the reference had something to do with federal employees being drug tested regularly, so why shouldn't people on medicare and other federal assistance programs for health care be required to take drug tests. It's some sort of jab at poor people, suggesting that they're poor because they use drugs, and if they were drug tested and failed that we could deny them assistance with health care. Just another America-hating talking point for the nutters.
