We also need to close the loophole of "corporations are people" (two court cases) that allow corporations to contribute to campaign financing at all. If Obama thinks that kowtowing to the industrialists is going to in any real way ingratiate him or his family or that this behavior will take him beyond the glass ceiling into the circles of the Boston Brahmin, he simply doesn't understand their mentality or what he is dealing with or what he is doing. Since the Reagans and more overtly since the Bush years, she has been appearing in this country sporting crowns (during daylight hours) and staying in Virginia that has quaint names like Prince William County. You will hear the argument that the English monarchy is just a figure head. But a stone cold fact is, each time a new Prime Minister is "elected" in England, he/she has a private meeting with the Queen in which he/she must get down on their knees and beg the Queen to allow him/her to form a government! So, the way forward is clear: 1) Rescind the Telecommunications Act of 1996; 2) Clamp off K Street by reversing corporations as people; 3) Re-assert the Sherman Anti-trust laws; 4) Re-assert Glass-Steagall Act; 5) Get all New/Neo-Liberals out of office and replace them with FDR New Deal supporters; 6) Stop voting rock stars into office like Obama and Schwartzenegger (who has DESTROYED California); 7) Put this president and our representatives on notice that it's our way or the highway; 8) Make this president a one-term holder; 9) Do the homework to see whom we need to vote for president (like Dennis Kucinich, Bernie Sanders, maybe Al Franken.) It's a tall order, but just think of our forefathers riding the old Boston Post Road in the dead of winter in the sleet, driving snow, and ridiculous temperatures, sleeping out of doors, riding between Boston and Philadelphia with only their conviction to carry them through as they sought to cobble our great nation together.
