Okay, just answer this question below: Is the Corporate Mainstream Media Responsible for Reviving the "Birther Movement"? Share Your Thoughts with BuzzFlash Community.

Because, we're mad as Hell. While GE is reining in progressive programming on MSNBC, the corporate media, which is all of mainstream television, is ginning up -- in fact, reviving -- the lunatic "Birther Movement."

Now that the nutcases have obtained multiple and different forged Kenyan Obama birth certificates, the so-called "establishment" (big-money owned) press is going to keep kicking this fringe psychotic racist political campaign down the road. It's like the "Swift Boat" campaign on steroids, run by Jim Jones.

Of course, try to get a single payer healthcare spokesperson on television and you're met with a corporate media cry of how out of the mainstream such advocates are, that Medicare for everyone is a "fringe" movement.

We've written over ten years about how when the corporations control the media, they control our government by persuading people that misinformation favorable to the plutocracy is true. They've started to succeed even with the lunacy of the "Birther Movement."

So, please weigh in with your thoughts below.

Would the "Birther Movement" been confined to people in white sheets with billboards on their backs, walking aimlessly down sidewalks and handing out mentally unstable pamphlets if it weren't for the corporate media?

The chief problem is that Americans have lost the ability to discern between fact and fiction, which is a direct effect of corporate media. Not just TV, but the corporate media which supports Rush Limbaugh, who has done more to confuse and divide people than anyone else. Corporations benefit directly from the lies, not just in making short term profits, hyping the Birthers or Michael Jackson, but from scaring an ill informed audience into voting Republican. Media is the problem

Last week, in a forum on Walter Cronkite, I wrote American journalism died when Mr. C left the air.

Look at Gulf War I, in which a "balanced" discussion was a debate between those who felt it should be a ground war vs those who thought it should be an air war. Those who felt there should be no war were not invite to participate.

Look at how Dan Rather was thrown to the wolves over the story of Shrub's military "record".

Look how corporate media totally ignored the Downing Street memo.

But the birther movement is "news".

Is it any wonder that a large segment of the population watch The Daily Show for their news coverage?

Keith Olbermann is being "Donahued" by GE. I have often wondered over the years how he got away with so much considering GE's ownership. If you don't know what I mean about "Donahued" look it up someplace it will talk about how Phil Donahue was shafted by MSNBC... And, if Obama succeeds with ANYTHING it will reflect on the MSM and corporations. The Repugs will look even more limp than they are. Corporate America, the GOP, and the MSM care not one bit for America, just profit--and some Demos fit that too. Why Barbara Boxer just voted to continue funding unwanted, not needed by the Pentagon F-22. Corporate donations in there someplace...

freegirard: Let's get down to the real nitty-gritty. For far too many of these "birthers" it is pure racism, wrapped in a cloak of patriotism. To them, the election of Barack Obama is impossible without some sort of outside interference by __________________ (name their favorite conspiracy: International Communism, ZOG, Bilderbergers, space aliens, etc.), because there is no way the American people would ever actually elect a g#$$@&n f&#*ing n&%%^r to be President of the United States. They are grasping at straws, because in their miniscule minds, their worst nightmare has happened. The corporate media, with less modesty and reserve than any lady at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, are playing these poor, sick bastards like a cheap fiddle.

DO YOU KNOW that the US Constitution and who can be President is further explained by administrative laws? Do YOU KNOW that a person only needs one parent to have been born in the United States and have lived here for five years, three of which were during their teenage period and then can become President of the United States? DO YOU KNOW that in Hawaii that a parent has one year to register the birth of their child no matter where in the world they were born which will show on the short form that the child is a registered birth of Hawaii and then become President of the United States? DO YOU KNOW that Obama's father was born in Kenya and his mother in Kansas who later moved to Washington State and was there three years as a teenager and therefore, fulfilled the requirement of the law for her child to become President of the United States? DO YOU KNOW that Obama's mother registered his birth in Hawaii within the one year required and the person in charge of the department that includes issuing birth certificates will only show the short form? DO YOU THINK it matters that Obama may have been born in Kenya instead of the United States even though our laws say he is legally the President of the United States if born in Kenya? Why does the public not know this???

Obama's birth and his American family

Veryvicki Obama's mother was born in America. She lived there with her family until her father moved the family to Hawaii where they remained until her parents deaths. Obama's mother met his father at the college both attended and was drawn to Barack Obama's father because of his outgoing personality and friendly manner. They married in Hawaii and Barack Obama Jr was born in Hawaii where his mother continued to live and continued her education. Barack Obama Sr left the family. She and her parents continued to raise Barack. Barack's mother met and married another gentleman who was Chinese and gave birth to Obama's sister in Hawaii. After her education Obama's mother worked in Indonesia for the U.S. Govt working with the poor, especially women, to help them improve their lives. Obama lived in Indonesia for a short periods of time, but mainly lived with his grandparents in Hawaii. This is true and I approve these words as the truth and nothing but the truth as I have learned them.

During the run-up to the Iraq invasion the slanted reporting of the Major Media was apparent to everyone. Some were pleased that America was speaking with one voice, some were not. The same corrupt corporati who control the media are promulgating the BIRTHER message today. This is the most recent variation on the SWIFTBOATING of John Kerry. Fraudulent accusations and phony hysteria is not a NEWS STORY, it is a POLITICAL TACTIC. Remember when the school bully would trip a freshman, and extort an apology, then accuse him of being gay? Well, that's what we have now, but the phony accusations are being "magnified" by our news media. People have their doubts, want to see proof? No. Our national journalists must be snickering to each other about how absurd this story is, but they don't attack the lies. There are no journalists in the major networks any more, only criminal impostors.

Even the most rabid liars of the republican party like Ann Coulter are not going along with this republican swiftboating attempt to besmirch our honest and honestly elected President Obama. This does not include republicans in our government who are looney cowards afraid of their rabid lying republican base led by Fox's worst reporting and CNN's Lou Dobbs. Of what print, radio, and TV "news" has degenerated into will reveal the supermarket tabloid nature of what used to be one of the crowning glories of our once great nation. Although Americans have never been the best educated people in the world, at least we weren't the collection of Joe Sixpacks and Homer Simpsons we are now. It's difficult for me to believe that the disintegration of our public education systems hasn't been DELIBERATE. Beavis and Butt-head would look like geniuses compared to some of the zeros growing up nowadays. It seems the neocon rat bastards have us exactly where they want us, and aren't about to let us go without a fight.

Is there any reason to doubt it? This BS didn't really have legs during the election. Then it was just one more whacknoid tidbit floating around the ether like 'He's a Muslim' or Socialist or paling around with terrorists. Then I believe it effectively helped elect Obama. I mean, really, who would want to vote for anyone who was representative of this degree of stupidity? Now, it is a diversion, a contrived 'controversy' that the media plays up during the summer 'down cycle' of news. At whose behest do they do this? Their corporate bosses of course. The corporations will do all that they can do to ensure a resurgent Republican party for 2010 midterm elections. This BS story keeps them going until Congress resumes. Answer: Absolutely, and then some!!!!! What else would anyone expect when we are victimized by a corporately-run government? We get supermarket tabloid style reporting. Tabloids = high paying sponsors. Sponsors rake in sales profits. Profits make the corporation fatter and more formadable. Additionally, the biggest perk early cable service sold itself on was ad-free program viewing. Can we spell duped again? Now they are going to place ads on Tivo (now ad free) to be similar to internet pages. Actions speak louder than words... turn the idiots on the idiot box off. Media has the whacky idea that they have to stir controversy and sensationalism to sell products. Thus we are back to supermarket tabloid style news. If any business is begging for government regulation, surely it is the corporately-owned media.
