... turning away from my base was a "sc**w up", my numbers are down (and so fast too), the public hates the stimulus plan, and now the republicans won't play nice. Campaigning was much easier than leading!

First: Bailout bankers & Wallstreeters who were campaign donors! Second: Bailout the people with crumbs! Thank you Mario Antoinette!! Still waiting for your reluctant fan club, Congress, to approve your proposal. He is preparing a constituency for the next election through creating a new "faith base commission" I think Obama understood how it worked, but he is driving a faster car than Congress in an attempt to get to the finish line. Should Obama act like he was a one term President without regard for the consequences, but appear? to make a plan for his next sElection in 2012? Would he accomplish more this way and in effect guarantee himself a second term?

I defeated the heavyweights, Hillary and John Mc, now trouncing these republican lightweights will be a breeze. But first I'm going to punish them. Just let them keep making those self-inflicting wounds. Then I'll lean on them, then their knees will buckle, then they will collapse on the canvas. I'll barely be breathing hard, barely have worked up a sweat. Time to shoot a few hoops.

I am pretty sure that sums up what Obama is thinking as he takes on the Repugnants. I for one respect how Barack has dealt with the matter. He kept his promise to all Americans that he would make a SINCERE attempt at working with these selfish greedy fools. As most folks on the left could have predicted his efforts would be futile but to be a man of his word he had to really try. This trying should initiate trust in those that were unsure about his commitment to bipartisanship. This was the right thing to do and could very well benefit our country down the road. Now he moves onto to the next phase which obviously is publicly pointing out that there bullshit is bullshit, as he has done.

Hope to God, you are right!!! Hope to God he has actually comprehended that if he keeps this bi-partisanship compromising up....well, he's toast. And SO are WE! I can only hope that this street-wise community organizer basketball player is performing what a labor organizer once described to me as the "Hairy Arm" strategy: seems that long ago in a far away land, a KIng asked an artist to create a mural on the main street of the capital. The artist began his work. Every day the King came along and said, I don't like this and I don't like that. Finally, as the mural approached it final incarnation, the artist painted a huge Hairy Arm coming out from the left side of the mural. It was dominating. Everything else in the mural was what the artist wanted. The King came along and said, "get rid of that Hairy Arm". The artist did. And what was left was every single thing the artist, himself, wanted in the mural.

That's Change? I thought the Progressives wanted Change. I thought they were smart. I thought they had vision. I THOUGHT THEY BELIEVED IN THE HIGHER ROAD, LIKE KING, AND GANDHI. Seems the Progressives are only Republicans with different spots.

That you refer to "the progressives" leads me to believe that you are not. So why are you here?

Allowing the republicans to continue their war against the middle class is not "smart". Allowing the republicans to hold up the stimulus bill while our economy continues its free fall is not "vision".

The republicans held office like tyrants, and the only compromise they offered democrats was "Do what we say or nothing will get done." Well, the republicans lost big-time in the last election, and it is time to let the will of the people stand.

The republicans had a chance for a compromise, and they have shown that they will continue to stand in the way of change. By definition, the republicans must be crushed and rendered to the annals of history in order for Change to come.

Obama must know by now know that the Republicans are like the guy who won't drop the gold to grab the life preserver. He must also know that his major problem right now is imposing party discipline on the Blue Dogs, who are selling him out on his first major legislative vote. If he is forced to compromise with them on his stimulus bill, he should lay plans to pay these traitors back in spades later, because their nay saying is not principled but merely calculated .
