Subject: It's all Barack's fault!
Hi, Buzz!!
John McCain says he wouldn't have resorted to all the sleaze and slime about Sen. (PRESIDENT) Obama if Barack had simply agreed to a series of town-hall-style debates.
That reminds me of something Abraham Lincoln said. He was speaking of the Southern states' blaming Northern anti-slavery forces for the coming secession crisis, but it applies in this context as well. Lincoln said, "That is cool. A highwayman holds a pistol to my ear and says 'Stand and deliver, or I shall kill you, and then you will be a murderer!'"
The book of Proverbs says there's nothing new under the sun. Harry Truman was fond of saying that the only new thing in the world is the history you don't know.
John McCain is not a new thing. He represents the old, tired tactic of fear and smear. We have had enough of this, and want to move forward again, like Americans.
It's time to take our country back.
PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Subject: Defeat Anti-Union Proposition in Colorado
I'm working with Protect Colorado in the campaign to stop Amendment 47, the so-called "right to work" amendment in Colorado.
The election is just days away, so I'm sending this general request for help without any formality or fanfare.
The "Right To Work" people behind Amendment 47 have a website here:
http://www.abettercolorado.com/
It is the very first link in a Google search for "Amendment 47".
As I type this, the vote no site is about number 10 in the Google rankings for a search on "Amendment 47". In the past few days we've brought the vote no website up from about 250, but we'd like to see it rise a few more places before the election. Links from blogs and other websites will help.
The vote no website is here:
We have a page of link graphics and banners which may be used to promote the fight against Amendment 47:
http://www.voteno47.com/media_imgs
We would also like to request a text-based link, with the words "Amendment 47" as the text of the link, from any webmasters with the ability to do so. This will help us to promote the VoteNo47 site on Google, and other search engines.
Here is some additional information about the campaign.
Thank you sincerely for any assistance that you can provide.
(Please consider forwarding this email to your webmaster, if appropriate.)
thanks very much!

Subject: Brilliant assessment by Nobel winner Paul Krugman
Nobelist Krugman's observations, below, are brilliant. But, his mind seems to work at the level of "Wall Street"; he mentions that we have shoveled ($2 trillion) at the bankers (in the past month) but neglects to mention that nothing has been done to resolve the problem that triggered the meltdown, the 10 million foreclosures that are still moving at the system like a tsunami. Until they are resolved, there will be no strength/growth in the U.S. economy and the world economy will remain unstable.
Below are his OpEd, plus the intro of a second NYT headline noting that the next president is going to inherit a monumental mess.

Subject: Fighting Back Against GOP Election Theft
I'm reading a lot of stories about how the G.O.P. has already stolen this election and McCain is already predicting he will win a tight race even though he is way behind in almost every poll.
What I want to know is what is the Obama campaign doing about this? I haven't heard Obama talk about it. I think many of us were devastated when the Kerry campaign didn't fight back or challenge the election results in Ohio. I don't want to see that again.
Please point me in the direction of some good news on this topic!!! Please!

Subject: Restoring America's status
If ever there was a need for an unfettered Blue Ribbon Commission made up of Republicans, Democrats and Independents, it is NOW. "Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country" is as apropos NOW if not more so than during the Revolutionary War Period. Unfettered in that all subpoenas must be honored, unfettered in that all subpoenaed requests for documents must be provided immediately.
The subjects this Blue Ribbon panel must investigate: 1. How we were led into war. 2. The use of data to get us into war. 3. The sweetheart war contracts. 4. Those who advocated and carried out torture. 5. Ignoring parts of bills signed into law. 6. The Justice Department. 7. Deregulation's effect on the economy. 8. The home mortgage fiasco including "SWAPS. 9. The latest bankruptcy law that rewards the rich while further impoverishing the poor. 10. And any side roads and back alleys that call for further investigation.
The need is NOW to scrub out the BLOT that shows the world what true, patriotic, honest Americans do when confronted with chicanery at its lowest level. And doing this while following the due process part of our Constitution.

Subject: John Fund
John Fund's Stealing Elections came out a few years ago [2004], and has now been reissued just in time for the election. Although Fund poses as disinterested, he is in fact a propagandist for the GOP, who got his start as a gofer for Bob Novak and went on to the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal, where he ran that outfit's smear campaign against Vince Foster. Fund also came up with the tale that Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal had beaten up his wife.
Despite his pretense of impartiality, Fund's book is nothing but a fleshed-out catalogue of GOP talking points, asserting, among other things, that Bush legitimately won the 2000 election, and that the party is, on electoral matters, devoted above all things to the rule of law. If you take a look at his acknowledgements, you'll see that his warm thanks to Grover Norquist, the Journal's Robert Bartley, and the top dogs at the Hoover, Heritage, Cato and Olin foundations. (For my dissection of the book, see Fooled Again, pp. 100-02.)
It is, to say the least, unfortunate that C-SPAN should let "Book TV," an excellent show, be thus used to enhance the GOP's huge propaganda drive to charge the Democrats with planning to steal this election. (Fund has been out front assailing ACORN's imaginary "voter fraud" conspiracy.)

Subject: It's The Voting Machines Stupid
It doesn't matter how many thousands of people turn up at Obama's rallies.
It doesn't matter how many electoral votes they predict Obama to win.
It doesn't matter how many points Obama is ahead of McCain.
What does matter, is if the votes are being switched when a voter presses the touch screen to vote for Obama.
It does matter, if our votes are being routed through a computer run by Republican operatives that changes our votes.
See videos on youtube, where Republican computer specialist Stephen Spoonamore tells Velvet Revolution in eight interviews, how our votes can be hacked, using the Diebold voting machine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK2_OTtJUTO
Stolen election, civil unrest, as the voters KNOW they've had their election STOLEN AGAIN.
Riots in the streets, Martial Law declared, U.S. military AND Blackwater patrolling our streets.
McCain as President and Cheney V.P. (Sarah you're the new puppet whose strings Cheney will pull) nothing will change except the name Bush to McCain.
The Democrats have less than 7 days to make sure this election isn't stolen.
Has ANYONE in Congress asked Mr. Spoonamore to testify before one of their committees, to hear how this election can be stolen by the right?
Why the Democrats have allowed electronic voting machines after what has happened in three other elections is beyond me.
Paper ballots and a paper trail is what they should have demanded.
What happens to the votes of those people who SEE their votes change right before their very eyes?
Are they given a paper ballot instead?
This looks like chaos coming down the pike.
According to Mr. Spoonamore, if there is more that a 2% difference between the exit poll and the votes, then the election has been stolen.
If Obama gets elected, I hope that EVERY person who has helped to STEAL elections in 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008 are arrested and prosecuted.
Those found guilty, should receive very stiff sentences, as a deterrent to anyone else who is thinking about stealing an election.

Subject: A Dangerous Week Ahead
Hi Buzz and Friends,
As we head into America's most dangerous week and everyone's realizing that they can't possibly hold their breath for the entire week, it may provide some diversion to contemplate the nature of the financial crisis that is gripping the nation. IMHO it's not about numbers - even the daunting national debt that is part of the bush legacy of failure. What it is about is jobs, education and health care. That John McCain doesn't even realize that the most basic function of modern government, dating back not just to our own revolution but to the Magna Carta and before, is to prevent the kind of disparity in society that inevitably leads to tyranny and an oppressed people. The size of our middle class and the distance from the top to the bottom is rightfully the province of every citizen.
McCain knows about war - we need someone who understands the basics of good government. If rich people don't like paying proportionate taxes they should reflect for a moment on how adamantly opposed the French aristocracy were to parting with their heads. The will of the people nevertheless prevailed and France went on to become greater society - sadly however the work of the guillotine was permanent and those people were not around to enjoy the better times.
Not many Americans want to regress to such savagery, but what they do want are leaders in government who believe in government, know where the gristle is and are ready to get to get the work making government as small as it can be but as large as it needs to be to take on all comers - foreign and domestic. Personally I don't believe that there should be any limit on how wealthy a person can become in this country. If they can pay their taxes and obey the law they're clearly an asset to the country and entitled to their accumulated wealth. But the death tax has to be recognized as the fairest of all taxes and the graduated income tax is the fairest system yet devised to maintain a dynamic economy. Leveraging money is not a product unto itself and when it gets out of hand, as it has over the last 7 years, it's like an animal eating it's own species.
There's plenty of work ahead for everyone to be gainfully employed. If America is going to sink into a swoon at this point - just as we elect what has every prospect of being our best government ever - then maybe the government should hand out a round of smelling salts and handkerchiefs instead of another Wal-Mart stimulus package.
May God (and the Secret Service) watch over and protect all of the candidates and their families (including Senator Obama's grandmother) this week and going forward.

Subject: McCain and Palin are an embarrassment: Let's turn that page.
Obama has insurmountable leads in Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado and New Mexico, assuring his victory. But an electoral college landslide is in the offing. People are responding to McCain's negative ads, fliers and robo-calls, by switching their votes to Obama and sending him $100. McCain's campaign tactics have handed Obama the entire battleground. Had that included Georgia and Montana, we would have a tsunami.
A lasting consequence may be that those voters taken in, not turned off by the outrageous campaign, will experience increased apprehension about their new President, and battleground states in particular may emerge from this bruising election internally polarized. I hope the nation can take a lighthearted attitude toward the portrayal of Barack as a radical Islamic terrorist, swear off the politics of the past, and get down to serious business.

Subject: McCain's Health
You’ve read that McCain has had health problems, but also that he released 1,200 pages of health history, far more than Obama. You’ve read that McCain had Melanoma, but the lesions were removed in 2000, and since then, McCain’s cancer has been in remission.
But here’s what you haven’t read: On Aug. 9, 2000, two pathologists at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington examined a biopsy of the melanoma taken from Mr. McCain's left temple a few days earlier. They suggested that the left-temple melanoma had spread from another melanoma, known as a metastasis or satellite lesion. "The vertical orientation of this lesion, with only focal epidermal involvement above it is highly suggestive of a metastasis of malignant melanoma and may represent a satellite metastasis of S00-9572-A."
What you need to have understood from the above is the word metastasis. The melanoma that was removed from McCain in 2000 had already spread from another source. McCain has metastasized melanoma, which comes with a five year survival rate of 7% to 19% and can recur at any time after years of remission. It is well understood that metastasized melanoma carries one of the highest recurrence rates of any type of cancer.

IS THIS THEIR OCTOBER SURPRISE? Will BushCo/McCain try to steal the election by claiming that voters are switching over to McCain because Americans are concerned about "national defense?" YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

US Attacks Syria, Nine Killed Near Iraqi Border 26 Oct 2008
Two to four United States helicopters attacked Syria, near the Iraqi border, Sunday evening, killing at least seven people. The site was near the target Israel bombed last year. Foreign media reported that residents in the village of Al-Sukkariya, east of Damascus and about five miles from the border, saw seven dead bodies and four wounded men being rushed to a clinic. Syrian government news agencies confirmed the attack. A private Syrian television channel reported that nine men died and 14 were injured.

I remember that she had absolutely no answer whatsoever to a question about what newspapers she reads. Sorry, but that doesn't seem like such a poser to me. Even I can answer that one - and I can't see Russia from my house!
I subscribe to Newsweek and the Hightower Lowdown. And, thanks to BuzzFlash, I have read papers from all over the country and around the world. To wit: the Seattle PI, The New York Times, the Sydney Morning Herald, Asia Times, Financial Times, NW Arkansas Gazette, Progressive Daily Beacon, and on and on.
While I lived in Emporia, KS, I read the Emporia Gazette (which was William Allen White's paper, you may recall - and is still owned and operated by the White family). My husband subscribes to the Chronicle for Higher Education, which I dip into from time to time; and The Wall Street Journal, which I quit reading some years ago because the editorial page is so clueless about almost everything. While we were in Australia a few years ago, I regularly read Brisbane's Courier-Mail.
I wonder if Ms. Couric would find this a satisfactory answer?

Subject: Bachmann interview concerning Muslims
I am an American who, for personal reasons, has been living in Norway for many years. Because of BuzzFlash and the internet, I have been able to follow the American political scene in a way that I never could before and for that I am truly thankful.
During the past eight years I would have felt almost apologetic for being an American had it not been for my Norwegian friends who all understood that there were many Americans (especially among us living abroad) who never subscribed to Bush politics. What is more, there are certain areas of American culture for which my Norwegian friends have never lost their admiration and respect.
One of them is the ability of Americans to integrate their immigrants. Needless to say, I am aware of tensions in the US when it comes to immigration problems, but when a person like Ms Bachmann likens the problems of Muslims in the US to those in Europe, in France specifically, she is making a huge error.
To take one example, people from Somalia have a very hard time integrating fully into Norwegian life. And there are statistics to prove it. Norwegians often wonder at the ability of the Somali immigrants to the US to find work, settle in and become accepted into American society much more rapidly and successfully than here in Norway. This is in spite of the fact that the Norwegian government does everything in its power to promote an inclusive society.
i have also read an article in which an American Muslim said that it was easier to practice the tenets of his religion in the USA than in the Middle East.
Another anecdote: when I tell new Norwegian acquaintances that I come from New York City originally, some tell me how much they love that city and when asked why, they say that the minute they arrive they feel at home, as if they belong. I know what they mean when they say that. I have traveled extensively in Europe and indeed have lived in various cities here, but never have I felt as if I belonged from the minute I arrived.
The point I am trying to make in this email is this: Ms Bachmann's complaint about "Muslim tribalism" as a threat to a culture (i.e. the US culture) is completely irrelevant in the US.

Greetings Buzzers.
It's been a long time since I've written but BuzzFlash is ALWAYS one of the first sources of information that comes to my mind when I come across something that I think might be helpful in getting the truth out, waking one's neighbors up and pushing toward a solution. PLEASE PLEASE see the ENTIRE interview with Naomi Wolf on:

PLEASE People, listen to what she has to say. ALL of it. BECAUSE she not only has done her homework well and researched the facts deeply, she offers REAL HOPE, REAL SOLUTIONS to the colossal problem we are ALL facing today, whether we can give it a name or not. She doesn't just hammer on the problem. She clearly outlines the problem from several angles and then moves on ahead to CLEARLY outline and offer a very real solution.
In my opinion, this woman can be called a TRUE PATRIOT. Those in power would call her an alarmist, but we all know by now that what she has been saying in her books is true. The evidence is ALL around us.
Also as a side note please Google "Project Perfect Storm" posted by CitizenSpook on October 27TH 2005 for more ideas on solutions to our present domestic threats of encroaching dictatorship. When congressmen are forced to sign an agreement to government bail out under threat/duress/coercion, WE ARE ALL IN TROUBLE.
Thankfully, there IS hope, and there ARE solutions. and even more thankfully, there are incredibly brave voices of truth to help educate, encourage and offer some REAL hope. An ever more precious commodity these days.
Thanks again BuzzFlash for letting me get the word out to like minded people.

Subject: Memo To Palin: Fruit Fly Researchers Receive Nobel Prize for Medicine for Advancing the Understanding of Birth Defects in Humans
"This is the most mindless, ignorant, uninformed comment that we have seen from Governor Palin so far, and there's been a lot of competition for that prize." - Richard Wolfe, Newsweek
Memo To Palin: Fruit Fly Researchers Receive Nobel Prize for Medicine for Advancing the Understanding of Birth Defects in Humans
http://www.accessexcellence.org...nob.gif
NOBEL PRIZE FOR GENETICS OF DEVELOPMENT 1995 STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Three biologists have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their pioneering work on the genetic control of embryonic development. The researchers work with the Drosophila melanogaster fruit fly provided key information on factors influencing human embryology and birth defects. The recipients of this year's prize are Drs. Edward Lewis, of the California Institute of Technology; Christiane Nuesslein-Volhard, of Germany's Max-Planck Institute; and Eric Wieschaus, at Princeton. Each of the three were involved in the early research to find the genes controlling development of the Drosophila fruit fly.
The fruit fly, now a standard model in genetic research, is an ideal research animal since it develops from fertilized egg to embryo within nine days. "Most of the genes studied by Nuesslein-Volhard, Wieschaus and Lewis have important functions during the early development of the human embryo. It is likely that mutations in such important genes are responsible for some of the early, spontaneous abortions that occur in man, and for some of the about 40 percent of the congenital malformations that develop due to unknown reasons,'' according to a statement from Sweden's Karolinska Institute.
http://www.accessexcellence.org/WN/SUA06/aenobmed.php
http://joe.endocrinology-journals.org/content/vol191...gif
When Palin speaks in a mocking tone about the wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars to study "fruit flies", she shows her complete ignorance about biomedical research and the significance of “flies” as they are fondly referred to by geneticists.
Scientists rely on model organisms like Drosophila (fruit flies) and C. elegans (a nematode worm or just a “worm” to a geneticist) to study the molecular basis of biological processes and disease. The knowledge gained about disease processes and the function of proteins like potassium channels which play an essential role in the function of the heart have helped to develop better, safer drugs.
The major safety factor that causes a drug to be withdrawn from the market or its further study to be terminated during drug development is the effects of that drug on a potassium channel that was originally identified in fruit flies, the ether-a-go-go protein. The human counterpart to this potassium channel plays a key role in the rhythmic contractions of the heart. Many drugs, particularly antihistamines, block this potassium channel resulting in fatal arrhythmias. Unfortunately, in some cases, these potentially fatal drug interactions were not known until after the drug had been placed on the market and used in people that resulted in numerous deaths.
This is just one example of how the study of fruit flies and other model organisms has given scientists the knowledge and tools to advance our understanding of biological processes that result in human disease. Even now, in the laboratories of world-renowned geneticists who study flies, research is underway to further our understanding of how chromosome pairs split apart during maturation of the ovum (or egg) and how this process can go awry resulting in diseases like Downs syndrome. Trig, maybe when you grow up you can explain all of this science stuff to your mom.

Subject: Candidate Palin's Medical Records
Sarah Palin has yet to release her medical records, nor does she apparently intend to do so. Certainly, it would settle the question as to whether she was indeed pregnant with young Trig, the Down Syndrome child. There would be records of her prenatal examinations and a sonogram, at the least.
Recall that in her seventh month of pregnancy, no one in her office was aware that she was "pregnant"; that pictures taken in her office during interviews while in her 7th month of "pregnancy" show a very un-pregnant Sarah; that she flew back to Alaska after she broke her waters in her 8th month, a universally agreed obstetric and fetal emergency, that her "obstetrician" was a Family Practice physician specializing in teen-age pregnancies, and that no record exists at the local hospital to which she returned of her admission nor of the birth of a child to her.
It's likely that she's protecting her teen-age daughter from the notoriety of having given birth to an illegitimate child, and who is now pregnant again, not yet having been married.

Subject: Obama in Arkansas
According to DAILY KOS, looks like McCain is going to get Arkansas. It's not any surprise to me. Here's how things are in Faulkner County.
Three months ago, the Republican Party opened their HQ in downtown Conway. I tried to locate a Democratic HQ, but even the state party didn't have one listed.
But one finally opened a month ago.
I ordered an Obama bumper sticker online three months ago, but you STILL can't get one in Conway.
No signs either.
They finally got some in last week--six dollars each if you want one. The others are free.
With ten days left until the election.
Of course, in all the LOCAL races, there are Democratic signs aplenty.
My disabled wife and I did early voting Friday at the Public Library. We waited 45 minutes to vote for Obama.
Across from the library are around 35 political signs. Guess how many are there for Obama.
Not one.
I did see ONE sign for Obama two weeks ago, and told the folks at the Democratic HQ about it.
On the Mayflower highway is Lake Conway. By the highway, draped over a depth sign in the middle of the lake is a toilet seat that has OBAMA written on it.
So it's no surprise to me that Obama won't carry Arkansas.
Here in Faulkner County it took a real concerted effort to carry the area for McCain.
A concerted effort by the Democrats, that is.

I disagree with PM. Carpenter that the biggest future threat to this country is the corruption of the Democratic Party. The biggest threat, even if Democrats sweep the elections, is that the major components of the right-wing noise machine will remain intact. Those include a crew of hate mongers that dominate the airwaves and organized massive intimidation of those who dare speak up.
After living in a fantasy world where crimes more numerous and worse than Reagan have been totally ignored by MSM, there will be tremendous resistance to facing the truth. The right-wing will play on that reluctance. Last Friday, Bill Moyers revealed that his piece on election fraud generated the most negative reaction ever. The existence of this fraud is incompressible to people who have been fed only "feel-good" pabulum news.
A prerequisite to real change is to restore the integrity of MSM; realize that news should not be just a money making proposition. An informed public is an essential part of Democracy with a benefit that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Hate mongers have a right to their soap boxes, but no more. They do not deserve to be given access to millions through lucrative contracts that ignore common decency. When a network does this they are complacent in a criminal activity.
Remember that after treating Ronald Reagan with kid-gloves, MSM went on the attack with Jimmy Carter. To this day the media downplays Iran-Contra while it embraces the notion that Carter was a weak president. Why? Because MSM doesn't want to stick their necks out. Ronald Reagan is a darling of the right-wing. MSM knows that if they take on an icon, they will receive the wrath of the right-wing machine as did Dan Rather.
If the media continues to play the same game of attacking the easy target while trembling in fear of the right-wing, there will be no change. We need new laws governing the media as well as a new morality to reverse course.

Subject: Sarah Palin
Oh no! Make it stop! Make it stop! I'm still laughing about the $150,000 they spent on Palin's clothes and now we find out that McCain spent $22,800 in a two week period on Palin's hair and makeup. And this is someone who they are trying to pass off as a "Joe Sixpack" small town hockey mom from "Real America" - not like those "intellectual elitists" that those liberals who pal around with terrorists vote for.
I can she why she is against us intellectuals who see Palin as being similar to those "TV Preachers" who live in mansions and living the life of extreme luxury, and fooling evangelists who they think were born again yesterday. And McCain is supposed to be the fiscal conservative. Maybe I'm sick and demented but I get a thrill when phonies are exposed.

Subject: Palin Make-up
The Mccain campaign spent $22,700 in two weeks for a make-up artist for Sarah Palin? What is she covering up?? Maybe the campaign thought a make-up artist was supposed to make up lies.
Lies like Sen. Obama is a socialist because he favors Medicare, Social Security and Health Care. Republicans have opposed these programs from day one and cloak their opposition by using code words like, "entitlements". Got to cut them they say, yet they don't have the guts to be honest about their desire to enervate the "entitlement" programs.
This old army-vet won't be fooled by them again.

Subject: School Board Responds to Censorship Charges
Dear Buzz,
Below here is a reply I got from the Racine school board when I wrote to them (also below that) about the censorship issues over Obama being mentioned in a school book.
post if you like.
Subject: Re: censorship for partisan reasons is unamerican Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2008 08:48:13 -0500 From: Stephanie Hayden To: David Levine
Mr. Levine: the book has not been removed and has not been censored. The book is still in use in the 8th grade classrooms of Racine Unified. Stephanie Stephanie L. Hayden Director of Communication Racine Unified School District 2220 Northwestern Avenue Racine, WI 53404 (262) 631-7069 Secretary (262) 631-7057 Desk (262) 631-7016 Fax Stephanie.hayden@racine.k12.wi.us www.racine.k12.wi.us
>>> David Levine 10/24/2008 3:29 AM >>> Reince Priebus desire to censor the obama inclusion in books is un-american, partisan politics and hypocritical. you actually show a black girl on your homepage, but wish to censor mention of the most prominent black figure of today from your books. if he is elected president will you censor any mention of him in future publications? so glad my kids do not go to your schools.
A sad day for our kids when folks like you get your way.

[BuzzFlash Note: According to the Tribune report, the school board did stand up to Priebus, and they deserve respect for that. It was the publisher that caved regarding future editions of the textbook.]

absentee ballets won't scan, they say; instead of hand counting, workers will have to recast new ballots?!? WTF; optical scan means paper trail are the originals going to be destroyed?

[BuzzFlash Note: This from ajc.com: 3) Printing error, computer glitch cause voting drama: Oops. Thanks to a printing error, Gwinnett County elections officials will have to hand-copy 10,000 absentee ballots onto new ones. The original ballots cannot be read by an optical scanning machine. But that wasn’t the only error elections officials have reported. A computer glitch caused Georgia’s high number of voter identification checks, Secretary of State Karen Handel said. The Social Security Administration began questioning Georgia’s screenings on Oct. 3 after receiving almost 2 million requests from the state to verify the identities and citizenship of registered voters. The actual number of requested checks was 747,106, but the Georgia Department of Driver Services re-sent many of the requests, Handel said. A lawsuit filed against Handel alleges the state’s screening practices violate the Voter Rights Act and National Voter Registration Act.]
