Progressives Need to Rally Round Coakley, Whatever Our Differences

FDR told Progressives "Now make me do it".

War is not Progressive. Drone murders are not Progressive. Abortion restrictions are not Progressive. Bailing out Wall Street instead of Main Street is not Progressive. The bait and switch from Single Payer to a trillion dollar robbery is not Progressive. Amnesty for torturers is not Progressive. Spying on Americans is not Progressive. State Secrets Privilege and Executive Privilege are not Progressive. DOMA and DADT are not Progressive.  Raiding Medicare and undermining Social Security are not Progressive.

t's easy to talk Progressive but Obama doesn't want to walk Progressive.  He thought he could be king and rake in billions in campaign bribes and everyone would still love him while he screwed us.   That's not 14-dimensional chess - that's plain dumb.

Obama doesn't want to keep his Progressive promises? Tough.

Now we give him a taste of what he's in for in November if he doesn't start dancing with them what brung him.

Now we make him do it.

   When Healthcare Reform came up on the agenda, Obama publicly sh*t-canned single-payor, public option, and early Medicare enrollment before legislation was even introduce (much less debated). Each of these proposals were just fine with well over 50% of the people. Instead we got a monstrosity that benefits no one except the very people who did not need any more favors. And now, when Tea Party tophats like Palin, Limbaugh, and Steele say that NO reform is better than this bucket of bovine fecal matter makes them sound almost intelligent, you expect all these people to rally 'round Coakley to save us from Republicans who'd rather do noting at all. When SO many people worked so hard to send Obama and all the Democrats we could muster to D.C. we hoped for a shake-up, NOT a shake-down!!

This is exactly what PM's type of Democratic leadership ought have expected would happen with the 'base's' reaction to their performance ......... real Rebubbacans are preferable to DINOs.

Forget it, what you are talking about is impossible - Coakley isn't material for another Ted Kennedy.  And, it isn't a big deal, it's reality, the Democrats have maybe 25 actual votes - not 60.  I recommend undermining the frame, that supposedly losing this race isn't good.  The Democrats have failed, they held the power in their hands - Bush used reconcilliation to get what he wanted - the Democrats didn't want to stir class awareness, they chose civility with Conservatives over fighting for us - it's over.  We have a fight coming up over whether the lesson is don't ignore the base or whether the lesson is ignore the left.
