Subject: So Obama Hasn't Accomplished Anything
In response to that SNL Skit and Republican politicians and talking heads, I felt it would be a good time to make a commentary about Bush vs Obama, and where we were at this point in time with George W Bush as our SELected President.
Lets see, if I can remember back that far .... Oh Yeah ... We had just been attacked by Al Qaeda in New York and Washington DC and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001!! Seems George didn't have enough time on August 6, 2001 to read something called a PDB!
Yup Obama. You are doing "one terrible job" at keeping us safe. Three kidnapping pirates popped off with one shot apiece per your order. Recent news has terrorists caught in multiple states (NY, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, and North Carolina). Guess you pay attention to you Daily PDB's
Spate of terrorism arrests not connected, analysts say http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/09/25/terrorism.cases/index.html
Meanwhile, you're still picking up all the pieces of crap that Bush left you with the economy!
Boy oh boy Limpbore; for an overweight guy, you sure can bounce around for joy about the Olympics loss for AMERICA!! Just wondering, This IS YOUR COUNTRY, isn't it Rush? Or are you one of "Those People" that Lou Dobbs loves to go crazy about?
And hey, Glenn Beck. I heard that the Company that makes Vicks Vapor Rub has gone into overdrive with their productivity rate, so you can rub it under your eyes every day to fake those tears you make for your dumb ass FAUX viewers.
Beck Cries on Cue Using Vicks Vapor Rub http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/02/internet-finally-discover_n_307972.html
Wouldn't doubt that those tears on 9/11 and after were the same fake "Vicks" tears!! Just wondering Beck, does John Bohner use the same trick with Vicks under the eyes, when he pleads for war or slams legislation to the floor - and which one of you came up with the trick first?
Just hope that if Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ever becomes President and a Republican wins the Presidency after her eight years; she does NOT leave that Elected Republican President a great economy, a budget surplus and a no war situation, such as President Bill Clinton did when he turned the keys over to George W. Bush.
That's when I want to hear how Republicans react to having to clean-up for a Democratic President's multiple, big messes - and then play back for them their many forms of "Waterloo Comments".
To which I will say: "Chew on that one for awhile Limpbore and Beck. Chew on it!!"

Subject: Why Chicago Lost the Olympics
It's a sign of the times that people even have to ask this question. Let's see, hmm, what could the problem be? There's GSux and the financial meltdown felt round the world - you don't think that the rest of the world would hold that against us - do you? Since no one in the media has even mentioned the possibility... Then there's the republican "leaders" who can't even say the words France, Germany or even Europe except in terms dripping with contempt and disdain. We don't want to end up like them - with functioning governments and a brightening future? There's nothing wrong with our country that another war or two won't fix right up. What we need is to get big government off the backs of big banks so that they can spend our tax dollars any way they see fit and give themselves the huge bonuses that they so obviously deserve. We need to let the capital markets regulate themselves - they have such a good track record at doing that.
These are strange days when even the most obvious connections are overlooked in favor of wild speculation that it's President Obama's fault because he didn't give a good enough speech or some such nonsense. If he does one thing it's his fault - if he does the other it's also his fault. Meanwhile the people who actually are directly responsible for nearly all our woes breakout in cheers when Chicago loses its bid in the first round of voting.
You have to wonder - where did all the experts go? Are they getting paid to keep their mouths shut? There was an amusing article on the BBC a couple of weeks ago about a fossil find in China of a TRex ancestor - except that this one was really small. Exactly like a TRex in every detail except for its size. You have to laugh - it's not a very pleasant form of humor - but that's where we are today.

Subject: The American flag belongs to all Americans....
My 11-year old said something to me yesterday, that really shook me up. She said: " Mom, can we move to another country, because America just isn't good anymore?" Hearing her say that, really broke my heart. I asked her how did she come to such a conclusion? She said Americans are always mad at each other and she doesn't understand why people are being so mean to Obama. Even a few kids at her school were upset when they were told they had to write a letter to President Obama. She remembered a few years ago, no one was upset when they had to write a letter to President Bush. She talked about the people yelling at the town hall meetings and carrying the ugly , hateful signs. She said: "Hitler was bad, Obama is good, why can't they see that?"
She went on to tell me that one of her classmates dad is a republican. I said it doesn't matter; then she jumped in and quoted what I always tell her.. "as long as they are nice." I asked her how did she know that he was a republican? She said he has a flag on his car. That was another eyeopener for me. She associates the American flag with the Republican party. I told her that the flag belonged to every American, not just the republicans. I wondered how many children thought this( talk about indoctrinating)
I realized that at 11, she has lived through 9-11 and two wars. She was too young to remember a time of peace and a time where there was seemingly harmony in the country. I wanted to tell her that things will get better, that the country would come together again, that politicians would start putting country before party; that good people would start drowning out the voices of Sean, Rush and Bill.
Then I saw a clip of some republicans rejoicing at the fact that America lost the Olympic bid, and I knew that the damage may not be repaired, at least not while Obama is President. So I let her read a letter I wrote to the editor a few years a ago. the letter said:
Some Bush Supporters have told anti-war people to "love it or leave it." Meaning if you criticize America your don't love it. I see America as my mother, father, sister, brother or child. If you're right I'll fight like hell to defend you...But if you're wrong I'm going to bring it to your attention. I'll never walk away from you, even when things get tough...Because I love you. I want you to live up to your full potential and l I won't accept anything less. This is why I have spoken out against the invasion of Iraq, and every single day... I'm proven right. ---
I doubt reading my letter changed her mind or made her feel more hopeful. I tried to make her understand that your country is your home and just because things seem bad, you don't walk away. You stay and fight and you try to make it right. I asked her what if MLK ran away, where would the Civil Rights movement be today? what if Rosa Parks decided to just stand up on the bus instead of sitting down? (She wrote a report on Rosa parks , last year and got an A and she was Harriet Tubman in a play) I went on to tell her that a lot of good people have given up a lot, to try to make this country a better place for her and other children in America. Sometimes the easy thing to do is to runaway or accept things the way that they are. If we walk away the bullies win. I told her to remember that brave people; are people who will not let fear overtake their morality.

Subject: General McChrystal's Insubordination Is To The Afghanistan War As General MacArthurs's Insubordination Was To The Korean War
"Insubordinate how?"
"Each of them bypassing civilian leadership of the military and going public with a demand for expanding a particular war; General Douglas MacArthur seeking permission to cross the Yalu River into China, and General Stanley McChrystal wanting thousands of additional troops."
"President Harry Trumans's response to General MacArthur's insubordination?"
"General MacArthur was relieved of his command."
"And how should President Barack Obama respond to General McChrystal's insubordination?"
"Same way."
"Otherwise?"
"What just happened in Honduras will have happened here."

Subject: Clinton says cynicism is a cop out!!!!!
Sorry, but not only am I cynical, but I have proof. Years ago I wrote to my senator who replied that he did not care what I thought. Also, we have to compete against all that lobbyist money that is spread around. Six lobbyists to every member of Congress!!! How can we compete against that? Especially in a recession or depression. The powers that be keep us poor and unable to get off work to make a surge on Wash, DC. Why do you think they fight against labor unions and raises in the minimum pay. And heaven help us if we should have single payer health care so we could put some money in the bank for little extras, like our dotage. Not to mention the fact that some of us are here at home changing diapers and tending the garden, something that Clinton does not have to do. They have the luxury of seeing the big picture, we have to actually live in it. Republicans talk about a military coup overthrowing President Obama and no one says anything to them but I would get an immediate visit from the secret service if I did the same thing!! One rule for the governed and another for the elite. Lord help them if we ever get angry enough to march on Washington for real!!

Subject: These Lost Jobs Are Gone Forever
"And the army of the unemployed?"
"Nonexistent."
"Why not?"
"So many of the unemployed blame themselves, or, if not that, are susceptible to the scapegoating of immigrants &/or minorities &/or other nations."
"Otherwise?"
"In solidarity with the rest of usa the unemployed would rise up en masse and take on the powers that be."
"And for the unemployed to get jobs?"
"There is no alternative."

Thanks!
Thanks for restoring the feature that allows selection of the most recent news (last 2 hours, etc.).
New format
Well, I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to get a quick look at the news.
Wayyy too busy and not user-friendly at all.
Nice going; you lost me.
new format
Buzzflash is starting to look more and more like the modern Democratic party. The new page format is ridiculous. Who asked for the format change? ...probably bluedogs and republicans.
Just as I'm on the verge of quitting the democratic party because they ignore the desires of their base, I am also close to dumping buzzflash. It's too damned hard to read.
