Dr. J.'s Commentary: What Makes Joe Lieberman Tick?
There was a very nice puff piece on the Senator from AIPAC, Joe Lieberman, in The New York Times recently. It didn't mention one odd fact about the McCain-Lieberman link. It is well known that when McCain picked up the endorsement of the party-less Sen. Joe Lieberman in December, McCain seemed to be totally out of it. But that's not what was odd. It was surmised in some quarters that Lieberman was angling for the Vice Presidential nod on a ticket headed by McCain. Unfortunately for Lieberman (perhaps poor Joe was unaware of the fact), McCain had previously declared that he did not regard non-Christians as qualified to govern (The Progress Report, "Blackout and Brownout," Oct. 1, 2007).
Lieberman, according to the McCain Doctrine on qualifications to govern would be disqualified from a cabinet post in a McCain Administration (heaven forefend) as well from holding elective office.
Oh gosh, I guess while he is riding around on the "Straight Talk Express," Gentleman Johnny should read up on the Constitution. Article VI does state, pretty straightforward, that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." However, it seems that the fact that McCain has disqualified Lieberman for public office, but has not prevented him from frequently appearing with "his dear friend" at McCain campaign events.
But Joe's significance goes far beyond supporting a man who is ever so unlikely to win the Presidency (that is unless the Democratic nominee is one who can unite the Republican Party in a way that McCain seems to be having a hard time doing). This is what makes Joe tick: the fact that it is his vote that stands between the Democrats and being in the Minority in the Senate. This despite the fact that he disagrees with the Democrats on most major issues: peace in the Muslim Middle East, coming up with some reasonable solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict, joining "Bomb, bomb, bomb Eeer-rahn John" on something core Democrats totally oppose, supporting the Georgite policy of doing nothing serious to improve Homeland Security while frightening the beejesus out of the U.S. population at convenient times (ol' Joe is the Chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee -- ever hear of anything he's ever done to hold accountable what by all accounts is the worst-run, poorest functioning of all the badly run Federal Departments Bush has managed to run into the ground).
But Lieberman holds the balance of power in the Senate in his hot little hands. This is where his power comes from and he is the most important reason the Republican (we'll filibuster everything and anything you want to do just to make you look bad) minority has all of the authority in the Senate with none of the responsibility.
We were thrilled when Lieberman decided to vote with the Democrats to organize the Senate because we thought that they would then go on an investigations rampage. We knew there wouldn't be much in the way of legislation because of the Republican minority, filibuster, Bush and vetoes, and Signing Statements. But nothing much has happened on the investigation side either. Indeed, we have been entirely disappointed. Looking back, the Democrats would have been much better off if Lieberman had voted with the Republicans to organize the Senate. Then the Democrats would have been able to hold the Bush Regime and the Republican accountable, and maybe even use the filibuster themselves. Oh my, what a thought! But with Lieberman voting with folks with whom he has so many fundamental disagreements on policy, that scenario never happened. It causes one to wonder: did Lieberman just flip a coin one day, or was what happened the plan from the outset? Did this series of events that has made the Congress, with Democratic control of both Houses look so bad, actually the Lieberman-Georgite plan all along. Hey, it's unlikely that we will ever know.

Dual Citizen
What's good for Joe is what's good for his extremist allies who currently control the (stolen) land called Israel. They've got quite a gem in Joe, methinks. He pretends to be a Democrat but he's really a Zionistacrat.
Don't raise the ridiculous "anti-semitism" flag when we talk about Joe, either. Being "Jewish" (is that a race, a religion or something else entirely?) is not an excuse. It is not a get-out-of-jail-free card. It should not be a ticket to torture or oppress or steal or lie. Yet UN sanctions against Israel don't count, nobody adds them up, they are not remembered or commented on. Yet they number far more than similar sanctions against any other country.
And if one questions why we have so many government officials who hold dual citizenship (US and Israeli), we are not supposed to talk about it. Go figure. Do the math.
Joe marches to the tick of the extremist Zionist clock.
Tick Tock
The Skeptical Cynic calls Joe Lieberman "a tick! A tick is a parasitic, disgusting , repulsive, bloodsucking arachnid"
And this is the individual that we DEMS are relying upon to hold the senate?
Good time to vote Nadar.
ps: I am shocked at Buzzflash which I thought for years to be the bastion for equality and fair play. When one reads the partiality of the headlines and the biases of the 'contributors', perhaps, after all FOX NEWS was right all along.
What Makes Lieberman Tick?
Lieberman IS a tick! A tick is a parasitic, disgusting , repulsive, bloodsucking arachnid (an eight legged arthropod, like the pubic louse), a disease carrier ... Joementum is the pseudo-senator representing the Nutmeg State. In actuality he is (not even covertly but overtly) an AIPAC sock puppet, the senator representing the Nutcake christofascist Zionists here in the U.S., and the Ashkenazim expansionist, ethnic cleansing, inexorably genocidal Zionist State of Israel. Of course, I mean this all in a nice sort of way.

JEW BAITING SMUT
I'm disappointed that the Buzzflash which I have admired and looked up to publishes, apparently as routine, this Jew Baiting Filth.
Is this what it means to be "Progressive" now !
Dear Mark Karlin,
This post by "Skeptical Cynic" is a good fit for Der Sturmer, not Buzzflash.
At least not the Buzzflash that I've been admiring and reading daily for eight years.
Der Stermer, huh? Hyprocritical Smut.
That's the pot calling the kettle black. Chosen race, Superior race. Not much difference if you ask me, or anyone with even a semblance of an analytical mind. Face it jews. You have no leg to stand on and you never really did. Racism is racism. Immoral is immoral.
Dear Mark Karlin.....Is This Hate Now the Buzzflash Standard !?
"Lieberman IS a tick! A tick is a parasitic, disgusting , repulsive, bloodsucking arachnid"
This repulsive bigotry is straight out of "Der Ewige Jude" and "Der Jude Suss".
Then this fine stormtrooper goes on to make the smarmy reference to "Ashkenazim".
Russ Feingold is Ashkenazi. And the poisonous point of this reference is to equate all "Ashkenazim" with Lieberman, by race, not by outlook.
It is pointed and ugly that this low-brow junk is now welcome on Buzzflash.
Behaving like the RW echo-chamber
1: Have you considered the situation in the Senate if Joe Lieberman is driven fully into the Republican fold?
2: As one who believes that Obama should/will be the nominee on his own merit, I find the following "echo-chamber" comment about Hillary i.e. 'unless the Democratic nominee is one who can unite the Republican Party' quite demeaning to the real strength of Barak Obama.
I find that oft-echoed (from the echo chamber) comment bereft of intelligence. It also underestimates the right of the voters to make their own choice without unfortunate propaganda from the Right or Left extremes.
I seriously hope that these chaps from the echo-chamber do not drive Joe Lieberman further to the Right and keep Hillary supporters grounded in their kitchens on election day.
Joe Lieberman
He is nothing but a Neocon of the worst kind. He is true to every criterion. He was a great spokesman in the Sennate for such predetory corporations as Enron. He consistently supports big corporate greed. But first and foremost, he is a Zionist. Israel above everything. In response to a call for even handed justice in dealing with Israelis and Palestinians in a debate, he jumped in outraged at the thought: "Never," he said, "we have always and will always support Israel."
Sadly, the type is in control of American policy so don't expect justice for awhile yet.
As for driving him into the Republican camp, fine! He belongs there. Better an enemy in the open than a treasonous "friend" in your midst. Next time maybe silly Connecticut will elect a real Democratic Senator in his place.
