At 89, She Walked Across America to Get Rid of Big Money in Government. Granny "D," BuzzFlash Honors Your Memory.

At 89, she walked 3200 miles from one end of America to another to advocate for the public financing of elections, so that people and not the money of corporations and special interests would decide our governmental representatives and public policies.

So many of us are just Internet activists, but "Granny D" -- who died last week in her beloved New Hampshire at the age of 100 -- was a role model of activism.  No, she didn't achieve her objective -- the Supreme Court just put up a bigger "for sale" sign on our government in the "Citizens vs. United" ruling -- but she inspired us, even if we did not live up to her courage and determination.

An obituary in the Nashua Telegraph, New Hampshire, noted this of "Granny D": "She was uncompromising in her belief that money has corrupted the American political system in such a way that tinkering around the edges won’t work. He who pays the piper, calls the tune, and the only way to make Congress work for the American people to make sure our elected officials are accountable to no one other than the voters."

This description of a true patriot could describe to the word the outlook of BuzzFlash and the reality of the governmental reality in our capitol.

The Nashua Telegraph paid tribute to "Granny D" fittingly: "We need more like Granny D – someone who was truly willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk."

How few "Granny D's" there are; how much we will miss her, because we will only return the power of government ot the people if there are millions who will dare to emulate her.
