Ever since SC moved their fabric industry overseas, putting thousands out of work, I lost all respect for them.  DeMint has several motives for holding back Obama's nominee:

-DeMint is pro business, anti labor

-He owes his soul to SC business

-DeMint has caught the (greedy virus) from SC business

-DeMint is the example of the present GOP

-Like many southern reps., he bristles at any black nominee

Furthermore, the republican party must have gotten into a huddle after election night and vowed to be as obstructive to this administration and congress as possible... even if their obstructions foul up the nation.  That accusation is as clear as a freight train barreling down the track.  Of all the obstructions republicans have demonstrated through 2009, it simply appears that it is just DeMint's turn to rock the boat.  Yes, it appears that they take turns at the obstruction strategy.  Pathetic, Anti-American, UnPatriotic, Subversive, Childish... and they absolutely refuse to accept being thrust into the minority. 

Jim DeMint is another of those Confederate Republicans from South Carolina  -- and there are LOTS of them these days in the former Confederate States, and now in the Congress of the United States. It makes one wonder.

Anyway, my take on ths DeMint hold is that he'd probably put a hold on ANY African Americon that Obama would nominate.

Hypocrite of the week, asshole of the month, partisan hack of the quarter, bi-annual fear-monger, and self-aggrandizing, filibustering, union-denier of the year ... ah yes, Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina, also home to Strom Thurmond (Christmas past) and Mark Sanford (Christmas present).

You'd think those two SC characters alone would keep Mr. DeMint busy minding his own ... but then, as you so aptly illustrated, hypocrisy seems to be DeMint's trademark and, as his area of expertise, he's intent on letting the world know that.
