Like Father Like Daughter: Liz Cheney Wins This Week's BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week Award

Liz Cheney
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
As if we weren't tired enough of the ex-veep creep himself, now we have more of his daughter than we could ever possibly digest. With her massive media blitz, it's hard to keep track of all of Liz Cheney's many lies. Thankfully, she packaged one huge contradiction together quite tidily in a recent interview.
Now this one is tough to get one's brain around, what with all the logical twists and turns Cheney has to make in order to get her argument to sound like it works in the real world. To sum up, Cheney says there is a liberal conspiracy to insist that her father tried to make a connection between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and al Qaeda and 9/11 (which, incidentally, he did). But, on the other hand, there actually was a connection between the two (which, incidentally, there wasn't).
We've got news for you, Liz: Two conflicting lies don't make a right. In fact, they make hypocrisy.
As Jason Linkins adeptly points out at the Huffington Post:
In an interview with NBC News' Andrea Mitchell, Cheney insisted that her father had always disavowed the notion that there was a link between Iraq and al Qaeda and September 11th, while simultaneously suggesting that such a link was true. Then she sort of got snippy with Mitchell for the way she kept intimating that maybe this was all a little nonsensical.

Linkins does an excellent job pointing out that Cheney is categorically lying, noting that in the "core foundational document of the Iraq War" (the resolution to go to war in Iraq, that is) "the administration is arguing vehemently that there was a link between Iraq and both the September 11th attack and al Qaeda."
But lying in and of itself is not enough to earn a person the GOP Hypocrite of the Week Award. Particularly when one's last name is Cheney, there's nothing more natural than twisting the truth. So, bring on the hypocrisy!
Cheney went on in that same interview with Mitchell to insist that indeed "there's much evidence between the connection of Saddam and al Qaeda and Saddam and other terrorist organizations."
Mitchell basically says, "OK, yeah, but these terrorists are in Iraq because we are in Iraq." And Li'l Lizzy basically retorts with "Nuh uh! Liar, liar, pants on fire!!"
Whew. Talk about hypocrisy. Hat tip to Linkins once again, who goes through each of Cheney's mind-numbing claims and proves them totally and completely wrong. We share his sentiments at the end of the piece when he says, "it honestly baffles the mind that one has to keep going over these facts, again and again." But we thank him for his efforts.
As for Cheney herself, we're not sure if she's doing this moral and political gymnastics routine in order to get her dad off the hook or jump start her own run for office. But either way, her lies won't get anyone anywhere. But they will get her a BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week Award! Congratulations!
Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.
Catch up with you soon.
