For eagerly taking stimulus money after denouncing it, Lindsey Graham is the GOP Hypocrite of the Week

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

Talk about foreclosing on a bakery and then demanding a free cake. That's what most Republicans who voted against the "Main Street Job Creation Act" -- denouncing it as just short of Satanic -- are doing for the most part. They are now crowing about what all that "wasted" money will do to benefit their home states or districts.

Take Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. The Neo-Confederate U.S. Senator is wasting no time in boasting about bringing home the bacon when just a few short days ago, he was denouncing a jobs creation bill as pork.

As ThinkProgress.org observes:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has been one of Congress's most vocal opponents of the economic recovery package. In fact, he and several other Republicans -- including John McCain -- introduced an alternative bill, which focuses mostly on massive tax breaks for corporations....

However, when [Wolf] Blitzer asked him whether South Carolina should "take the money," Graham replied: "I think that, yes, from my point of view, I -- you don't want to be crazy here. I mean, if there's going to be money on the table that will help my state, but I've got a job to do up here, and that is to try to help people and not damn the next generation."

In essence, Graham is saying he opposed the "Main Street Job Creation Act" even though it would be political suicide not to distribute the money to the voters of his state. He was joined in rabid obstruction of the bill by his fellow Republican, Senator Jim "Stonewall Jackson" DeMint.

As BuzzFlash Editor Mark Karlin proposed a couple of weeks back, the state of any senator who opposed the "Main Street Job Creation Act" should only receive half their allotted funds. If both senators opposed the bill, the state should receive no federal allotment from the legislation.

That way, hypocrites such as Lindsey Graham couldn't grandstand their zealotry and then pass out the goodies that they fought against.

In fact, Graham represents one of the many GOP Neo-Confederate states that receives more money from the federal government than their citizens pay in taxes. That sort of makes South Carolina a welfare state as far as the Union is concerned.

As for Lindsey Graham, he's become a talk show regular spouting GOP talking points -- and then practicing the chronic hypocrisy of being a Republican welfare king for his constituents.

Ah yes, Lindsey, for that, you are chosen as the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.

Catch up with you soon.

Another hypocrite and high-speed rail in Central Florida ...

High-speed rail in Central Florida was: 1.Killed by the finally-departed, JEB Bush, in his "Destroy Florida In Less Than 3,000 Days" campaign. 2.Resurrected by PRESIDENT Obama as a part of the, "Main Street Job Creation Act". 3.Voted against by my own Rep John MICA (R). A vote against you and me. 4.Touted by the same Rep John MICA after stimulus passes, "I applaud President Obama's recognition that high-speed rail should be part of America's future," the Florida Republican beamed in a press release, after stimulus ("Main Street Job Creation Act") passes without ONE (1) single Republican vote. I guess what he meant to say was, "Look what I voted against, before claiming it as my own and bringing it to Central Florida, for you, my dear constituents." Apparently, these DC characters think "we, the people" are too stupid, or too disinterested, to pay attention. They may be right, at least pertaining to the later. David G Oakley Deltona FL doakley975@earthlink.net Let's face it, the hypocrites understand solidarity. If they're going to screw US, they're going to screw US all the way to ruination.

8 Years and Counting

I honestly cannot figure out how so many subversive republicans can be located in one country. They shoot themselves in the foot and still come out smelling like a rose. Do they deserve my resentment? Absolutely! Perhaps an informational media campaign should be designed to expose them to American voters who have no clue. CALL EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM OUT!

Just like deregulation profiteers...

They bet the farm on the failure of the Stimulus Plan and are now hedging their bets, covering both sides of the issue. They are appealing to those who are uninformed enough to believe their deceit.

Republican hypocrisy on stimulus

Don't forget that most of the Republicans are from states that every year get more back per capita from the Fed. govt. than they pay in and the liberal states are more likely to pay in more than they get back. This should get more coverage everytime the GOP complains about govt. expenditures.

Lindsey Graham

All the Republicans everywhere are doing it. Just today I listened on the radio as my own Republican house member claimed: l. he was absolutely locked out of any negotiations 2. he is responsible for bringing home a lot of money due to the stimulus plan. 3. He is really proud of it and should receive credit for it. In other words, he had nothing to do with it, but he is going to take full credit for it. HUH?!!! They are doing it all over the country. And, here we are, sitting at our computers hoping that the American people are comprehending enough to know something about ANYthing and capable of catching on.
