How did you take in the swearing-in of President Barack Obama?

BE-ELECTED
by Chad Rubel

Former President George W. Bush. Former Vice President Dick Cheney. President Barack Obama. Vice President Joe Biden. Beautiful, sweet words to hear.

So how did you take in the swearing-in process of Vice President Biden and President Obama?

Were you curled up under a blanket with a large bowl of popcorn as you mysteriously called in "sick" to work? Did you take in the speech in front of a large video screen in a public place? Did you sneak off to a bar with a TV?

Are you going to watch it again in the comfort of your own home after you saw it the first time. Will you replay the "Congratulations, Mr. President" words?

Share with us your thoughts on how you brought in the 44th President of the United States.

I was at home ..

... I was home, I wouldn't have missed it for the world!

For kicks, I had my laptop tuned in to http://www.whitehouse.gov . Promptly at 11 AM CST (high noon EST) Dumbya's ugly mug disappeared from the home page, and was replaced with the logo, "Change Has Come to America".

For some bizarre reason, I burst into tears :=))

Chief Justice Roberts's Brain Flatus

Did you happen to see and hear Chief Justice Roberts and his MONUMENTAL BOTCHING OF PRESIDENT OBAMA’S OATH TAKING CEREMONY! This Bushie buffoon owes the nation an apology. His court decisions have been and will continue to be of questionable bias and integrity, but yesterday’s gaff epitomizes either the towering of his ineptitude or the extreme unconscious mental discomfort he was experiencing in conducting the ceremony for someone he considers an “inferior”. The most significant presidential oath-taking ceremony since the oath was taken by the slave owning George Washington in 1789, and this turkey blows it in front of the entire world!

I suppose it is only fitting that the Bush Administration, an embarrassingly abysmal failure from its inception, continue to be so up to its pathetically sickeningly, cringing-producing, final seconds.

The Skeptical Cynic doth spake!

Poberts' "Brain Flatus"

Is it possible that Roberts blew it because he was too preoccupied thinking about the fact that he was swearing as president one who as senator was one of 22 who voted against his confirmation as Chief Justice.

I'm just askin', ya hnos?

The Skeptical Cynic doth spake!

re: Chief Justice Roberts's Brain Flatus

Can Supreme Court justices be fired?

Because Roberts needs to be shown the door ASAP!

What a jackanapes!!!

We Had a Pizza Party at Work

I am lucky enough to be a nurse at a facility for developmentally disabled adults. I was at an annual training meeting (with about 30 other staff members) when the pizza guy delivered a few dozen pizzas and our supervisor turned on the big screen TV. Some of our residents came up to the conference area and we watched as history was being made. Most of us cried. All of us cheered. I feel so inspired and hopeful for the first time in 8 long years.

Watching While I Worked

I got to watch the important part of the festivities, and I have to say a couple of things. First, The Chief InJustice is a total putz. Enough said about that lout. Second, I wish that the delivery of Obama's speech started stronger. He ended fairly strong and offered some good ideas, but on the whole, Obama has given better speeches.

With the eyes of the entire world on him, one would think that he would have given the speech of his life. IMHO, and feel free to differ with me, he did not. I feel that the speech he gave was merely adequate. I honestly hope his actions in the coming days speak much more eloquently.

I watched the inauguration at home

And listened as the Constitutional scholar corrected that numbskull, john roberts on the right words to say. As for going to Washington, I wouldn't go anywhere near that sorry cesspool if I was offered a ride in the most luxurious form of transportation avaible, for free, and with all the gourmet food I could eat and the best beer in the world to drink, and a seat five feet away from Obama. I like and respect President Obama; it's Washington I can't stand.

At Home

My eighty-eight year old mother, her visiting home aide and I reveled in every moment as we kept an eye on my three year old granddaughter, Lily, her mom and dad in the thick of the crowd in D.C. A tired daughter-in-law phoned to share "a day (they) will never forget." It was for us too. My heart is filled with the hope and confidence I have in leadership that I can finally trust even if I don't always agree. Trustworthiness is everything. That's what had been forgotten. I watched it at work

I watched it at work with a multiethnic group of co-workers, and thought how blessed I am to work for a multinational corporation that still wanted to give us the opportunity to watch this historic event in real time. And I recorded it on the DVR for later. Brilliant at Breakfast http://brilliantatbreakfast.blogspot.com

inaugural schamagural

I SHOULD have stayed home in upstate NY. Instead I travelled to DC for this historic event with my 11 yr old nephew and his mom. Spent the night in hotel. Boarded the metro at 5:30 am. Arrived at office of my congressman to get three tickets for the swearing in ceremony and then we got in line. The Blue line. The line that never moved. We spent over 3 hours in that line with others who also had tickets for the blue section. We thought we were special. Nope. We gave up at 11:15 and headed home. How was it?

I'm Recovering From Surgery at Home

so my wife and I watched the Inaugural on television, rather than going to a local theatre with friends where they were screening it.

We were sorry not to be in a crowd to watch - on the other hand, at least at home we could mute Cartman's Homophobic Uncle delivering the Invocation! And WTF was up w/Roberts, anyway - besides proving for all to see that he wouldn't know the US Constitution if it swam up behind him and bit him on the ass?

I have to say, though, both Obama's Inaugural Address and Lowery's Benediction made our day.... :)

Word of advice, "Doc" ...

Inauguration

I went to the UFCW (Local 135) Union hall for a buffet breakfast and to watch the Inauguration on a big screen TV. There were cheers when the good guys came on screen and boos when the bad guys showed up. When W. first appeared one woman took off her shoe and wagged it at the screen. After President Obama said So Help Me God, People stated hugging each other and crying. We had worked so hard, put in so many hours to make this day happen, it was great to see it pay off. Inauguration on College TV

I work at a small community college. Our provost urged us all to watch the inauguration on any television set we could locate. There were small crowds of people gathered around every TV on campus, and I can tell you quite honestly: there were very few dry eyes at the end of his speech.

Watching the Inauguration

The local (Guilford, CT) library set up the wide-screen projection TV in a meeting room. Open from 9:00 AM 'til 6:00PM. About 120-140 people filled the room by 11;30 and we all watched, cheered, clapped and reveled in the event. MUST SEE TV!!!

We Are Flying the Flag

My neighbor called just before the Oath of Office was delivered and suggested that as soon as Obama was officially sworn in, we should fly the American Flag that my late husband received from the VA. She came upstairs once President Obama had completed the oath, and we hung the flag over my balcony.

God Bless America!

What really annoyed me was, the singing of the above song! Aritha Franklin, in my view really murdered it, in her version!

Aretha Franklin was awesome

I disagree!! Aretha was awesome!

Island of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin

Living in exile as I do because American citizens are not able to sponsor their same sex foreign born partners for immigration, I hopped on my scooter from french Saint Martin and went to a great little place called Capacino Bar on the dutch side of Sint Maarten. The place was packed with both locals and Americans on vacation with everyone's eyes glued to the big screen TVs. The moment President Obama was sworn in as President the place went wild with yelling and clapping for our new President. Even though the local people here are not American, the happiness in their faces and their tears were profound! I also had tears in my eyes when our new President said in his speech that all Americans should have equality, hoping that all includes me. It is a great day for our nation after 8 long years of disaster. I hope to return home to the US when the term equality for all also includes me. But until that day arrives, I will remain hopeful and supportive of our new President. He has a tough job ahead of him and he needs all the support we can give him!

Inaguration

i watched with great joy, pride, and most of all HOPE for our great nation.
