After the Saxby Chambliss win, Dems have to ask how they can win in the South
BE-ELECTED
by Chad Rubel
The Republican Party used to have a problem: how could they win in the South. They certainly knew why at some point: the Republicans were associated with Reconstruction after the Civil War. And for a long time, winning the South wasn't in the cards for the GOP.
Then the Civil Rights Act came along, and President Lyndon Johnson, who knew in signing the legislation that the Democrats would suffer in the South as a result, signed the bill. Johnson was right and only off in terms of how long it would last.
Yes, the 50-state strategy made the GOP nervous. Barack Obama won Virginia and North Carolina, and the Democrats picked up Senate seats there as well. But the Deep South is still crimson red. The Saxby Chambliss win last night in the special Georgia Senate run-off election is just further proof of this momentum.
So how can the Democrats make headway in the South? Keep picking away and hope in a generation or two to make some momentum of their own? Is there a big piece of legislation or other governmental action that can sway the South into the blue column? Let us know what you think.

I wonder..is this Chambliss win
Vote flipping
Winning the South should be easy
Just dump all the "voting machines" and let the voters vote. Also, hire a third party (possibly someone from OUTSIDE the U.S.), to count the votes.
This strategy would have been very helpful in the year 2000. It would have saved us from two (that we know of) unnecessary wars, countless international embarrassments, and the 6 years long recession that was just announced the other day. Actually, they should have said “depression”, naming it for what it is. They just can’t stop lying, can they?
Who can tell for sure they haven’t been lying about the runoff election results?
