The fired U.S. attorney scandal likely claimed a victim in the race to succeed retiring Sen. Pete Domenici. Heather Wilson, a player in the scandal along with Domenici, lost her bid to be the Republican nominee, losing to Rep. Steve Pearce by about 3,000 votes.
Pearce will face Rep. Tom Udall (D) in November; Udall currently leads in the polls.
Wilson gave up her seat to run for the Senate so come January, she will be looking for a job.
As you may recall, Rep. Wilson called David Iglesias on October 16, 2006 "to inquire about possible sealed indictments in the corruption investigation at least one state Democrat. "
And in New Jersey, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) downed Rep. Rob Andrews by a 24-point margin in the primary. Lautenberg will face Dick Zimmer in the general election.
