Bush in retirement
Yesterday was George W. Bush's last State of the Union. (Yea. Applause.)
Though in the past, some presidents have given a SOTU speech on their way out, that hasn't happened lately.
This from Peter Baker of The Washington Post:
Speculation has ranged from being commissioner of Major League Baseball to clearing brush on his Crawford ranch.
We could easily see him pulling a Reagan and running to Japan to accept a lot of money.
We can't see him being ex-presidential. He hated traveling the little he actually did. He has made one official visit to Canada in seven years. And Canada is the United States' largest trading partner.
One suggestion would be for him to raise money to help take care of all the damage he has done (Katrina, Iraq, etc.). Another possibility is jail time, of course.
So seriously, let us know. What should Bush do in his retirement? (References to violence or abuse or otherwise nasty material will be removed. Be creative.)
Though in the past, some presidents have given a SOTU speech on their way out, that hasn't happened lately.
This from Peter Baker of The Washington Post:
We say "probably final" because in the past, presidents used to give a lame-duck State of the Union address on their way out of office. That hasn't been common in the past few decades, but there's nothing to say he couldn't do that if he chose. We've asked the White House about this and they say they think it's probably his last one too, though they didn't rule anything out entirely. So now that the end is near, what should George W. Bush do in his retirement?

W Retirement
George W. Bush & Richard Cheney will, in retirement, reap great rewards from their wealthy backers, for a job well done. The rewards will be what you'd expect ex-Republican politicans would receive. Much praise and much money in that insular world of the owners of this country, as well as the owners of countries they do business with. Out of the spotlight, they will live the remainder of their lives in the protective bubble of the rich and powerful, forever assured of their great role in history. They (Bush/Cheney) have always lived this way. That won't change in their "retirement years." As much as I'd like to see them pay for their crimes against humanity, that will, unfortunatly, never happen, unless a "World Court" was convened to indict them for "War Crimes." That too, is highly unlikely. Out of sight-out of mind. Too bad, because the retirement ideas for Bush, posted here, are all right on. Will they, (or their descendents), ever have KARMA visited upon them for their actions and made to suffer, as the rest of us and our kids/grandkids will, because of what these two have wrought? We can only hope so.
Vice President Jeb
Ex-Prez Bush can advise brother Jeb as he runs as Vice President with the McCain ticket!
What should Bush do?
I think he should go to prison.

Bush in retirement
I think the man should be forced to memorize the Koran, observe all Muslim prayer regimes, eat foods prepared by an Iranian chef and move to the Red Zone of Iraq 10 days after leaving office. I further think it would be terrific if he were denied all health care on his 70th birthday.
Thank you,
Joan
Bush retirement?
No way!
He should be exiled, along with 'Oily Dick' Cheney, to an abandoned oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico's hurricane prone, shark infested waters.
Bush In Jail
I'd like to see George W Bush spend his retirement years locked in legal battles against the Attorney General of the United States.
I'd like to see the Attorney General investigate every last inch of the Bush Administration's political and financial dealings, and personally sue Bush and Cheney for criminal behavior and financial improprieties.
And if I were the Attorney General, I'd start with the Bush family ties to the Carlisle Group.
Victory Tour in Iraq
Since Bush is so sure things are going swimmingly in Iraq, and he is responsible for this wonderful turn of events, I think he deserves a victory tour throughout Iraq. And since his magnanimity is so obvious, I am sure all the people of Iraq recognize what a great man he is, and it would insult them for the US to provide him with any military or other protection. That would just prevent the people he loves so much from getting close to him, especially as he walks through the poorer neighborhoods and shakes hands and hugs all of his fans there.
I think we should all get together and support a fund for his airplane tickets and hotel stays and even give him a little walking around money to go shopping in those street markets he has made so safe.
Bon Voyage Georgie!
Bush Retirement
Build a villa in Paraguay on the 10,000 acres he has purchased as that country has no extradition treaty. This way he will, as usual, get away with the crimes he committed against humanity. He can then ride his bike and cut brush with his tiny chain saw.
bush's"retirement"
Put him in charge of cleaning all the urinals at the raunchiest federal prison in the country. Make him colonel of the urinal, so to speak. Designate him permanent Punk of the Week, every week of his evil, misbegotten life. Assure him that his picture will Not be displayed alongside the others at the White House as he was never elected, and that his name will be equated with Benedict Arnold's, Hitler's, Stalin's, and Saddam Huessein's, in all our history texts. He wanted a legacy; let's give him one.
I wish that enough citizens
I wish that enough citizens would demand retribution by Bush and his team for planning the Iraq War prior to 9/11 and of course lying to the American people. Prison may or not be an option, but he should be stripped of his retirement salary, protection, and any other perks due a retired President. This would not be a divisive action, but one which would bring closure and justice for the American people, and restore some of our credibility on the world stage.
Bush Retirement
Unfortunatly Bush will never be punished for his crimes against the American or Iraqi people. He'll never be punished for his War Of Choice. Bush and his cronies will never be punished for their shredding of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. No DOJ will touch him for his Administrations crimes or their massive corruption. Instead he'll be honored by the neo-cons and the GOP hence forward and looked at as an unsung hero. He'll be sought after by FOXites and GOP pols as an "elder statesman". We do not have any alternative other than to bemoan these future charades.
Bush in retirement
Remember that scene in The Godfather when Michael Corleone becomes the Don? That is how I picture George W. Bush in retirement. Okay, without Michael's looks, smarts and military service. All the "made' men and womnen gathered around kissing his ring and pledging their loyalty. And when I say made I mean as in made them a lot of money for their dubious service to our country. They accomplished all their goals: two stolen Presidential elections, and many more at the national and local levels, war in the Middle East times two, stacked the Supreme Court with right wingnuts, created the Injustice Department, shredded the Constitution, stripped us of our Civil Rights to "protect" us, legally killed as many people as they could, tortured, imprisoned and committed high crimes and misdemeanors too numerous to mention.I hope when he retires he reaps the full benefits of all that he has wrought, but it will be us, our children and our grandchildren who will pay. I hope I live to see the whole lot of them get exactly what they deserve . . .
Truman
What about makinig his entire life a tv-reality show like truman. he likes spying so much, let's spy on him and dickless cheney for the rest of their miserable lives. Just think how fun it would be to watch both be cell-block bitches all day every day.
Bush in Retirement
George Bush should spend the rest of his life in prison for crimes against humanity. He should spend the years in all the secret prisons he set up. If he sent someone to Egypt for 6 months of torture he should spend 6 months in the same jail. If he still has time left he should be sent to Guantanamo for indefinite detention until the "war" is over.

WHAT BUSH SHOULD DO IN RETIREMENT:
Make license plates.
although
forcing the sob to shovel coal into a nuklear reactor has its appeal. And the idea that the fool be forced to test the before water at a water treatment facility in Gaza has its merits. In a just world he'd be immured in a cell, fed oatmeal twice a day, and when he finally dies the last brick should be placed in the wall.
I am torn between ....
angie
..... be waterboarded until dead
..... be exiled to Iraq
..... be ignored
Bush in Retirement?
Lock him in a cold, damp room with Ann Coulter and, of course, throw away the key.

bush in retirement
He and his administration should be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole or pardon. Finally never to hear his name mentioned again.
g w bush retirement
He should tend to all of the graves of the Iraqi children. Children who never had a chance to contribute a full life to thier families and the Iraqi society. Doctors, engineers, teachers killed in thier infancy, denied the opportunity to contribute to thier society and the world. If he has any time left from tending the 10's of thousands of children's graves he should then make amends to the Iraqi families he destroyed.
Bush should handle FEMA complaints in New Orleans re: Katrina
Since Dubya completely betrayed the hundreds of thousands of people who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina, he should be forced to work for the Federal Emergency Management Agency in New Orleans and the surrounding Gulf states until all residents have new homes. His job would be to take complaints over the phone and in person.
George Bush retirement
I think Georgie should be the tidy-bowl man. Considering all the Bull s--t he has left us with...
Bush's Retirement?
I'm very much afraid that the issue of Bush's retirement will never be faced. He and Cheney will initiate an incident on the scale of 9/11 to trump up an excuse for “postponing” the elections until the “crises” passes (which, of course, will never happen).
"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities," - Voltaire
Martial Law
I agree! This is exactly what I have been afraid of. Bush & Cheney seem far too content lately. They have completely dismissed the NIE reports about Iran having given up on their nuclear plans. They continue to issue warnings to Iran. They have been trying to instigate an incident off the coast of Iran to no avail. But haw hard could it be to invent one just like the Tonkin Gulf? Bingo. Martial Law. We aren't going anywhere.
dubya`s retirement
He could be a eunuch for the king of Saudi Arabia. He already has the new clothes for the job, given to him. I`d volunteer to complete the most important requirement of the job on him.
Get a good lawyer.
Get a good lawyer. Hopefully, he will need it for the impending war crimes trials.
Bush in retirement
What should bush do in retirement? Twist in the wind.
GW in retirement...
Robert Crawford sez...
I've actually given this one a lot of thought. Plans have included setting him on shore in Iraq, naked except for a red gift ribbon, as the last American troops depart. Future aid would be dependent on the Iraqis producing him identifiable and alive once a year for a public viewing. However, when all the vengefulness has settled out of me, the plan I like best is for George to spend the rest of his life as a male nurse, tending grievously wounded American soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. When his work day ends, each and every night, he can seek shelter as one of America's homeless veterans (his so-called hitch in the Air National Guard comes in handy here...). The function of his lifelong Secret Service detail would be to keep him from either being harmed by vengeful Americans or rescued by his wealthy family and "friends."
The End of (GWB's) Days
of course the real answer is prison time, ASAP. Don't wait 'till he's old like Pinochet and will die and get off the hook. But I recall another Buzzflash reader who had a great suggestion: grave caretaker at Arlington National Cemetery.
My husband says he should run for President again--of Iraq.
My friend Patty says he should have to go back and fulfill his Texas Air National Guard duty, and then spend an equivalent amount of time at Ft. Leavenworth for going AWOL the first time around.
Bob says he should be chained to a chair and forced to be a co-host on The View, and Elizabeth Hasselbach can sit on his lap whenever she wants. But I think that would be cruel and inhumane.
Kyrinn says he should be waterboarded until he reveals what he did with Saddam Hussain's stash of WMD's.
Carlos says he's sure Bush will retire to his large parcel of land in Paraguay, where he can clear as much brush as he likes, pretend to be a Gaucho, and snort as much cocaine as he wants.
Personally, I think he and Joe Lieberman should finally come out of the closet and get married in a lovely Leather and Lace ceremony in Worcester, Massachusettes.
What Bush can do.
Go to Hell.

I think Bush should serve as
I think Bush should serve as US ambassador to Iraq and reside in the new defective $592 million dollar embassy in Baghdad.

What Should Dumbya Do In Retirement?
Stand trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Also stand trial for high crimes against the country including illegal spying and treason along with his criminal panel condi, darth cheney, libby, rove and the rest.
And strongly warn any president that attempts to pardon him that they would be immediately removed from office no matter who the fu*k they are and charged as an accomplice.
American needs closure, justice and a return to Deomcracy that works of the people, by the people and for the people,
Live in Baghdad
Exile him to Sadr City.
Seriously....
Seriously, the guy is guilty of treason, war crimes, torture, murder, violations of the U. S. Constitution, violations of International law, etc. He should be in prison awaiting sentencing for these crimes. If he were a democrat, that is exactly what would have happened already. For God's sake, Clinton was impeached for fibbing about sex. Geez, beam me up Scotty.
What Bush should do in retirement...
Get cancer, HIV, SARS, Bird Flu, apoplexy and die.
you forgot
hemorrhoids, pimples on rear end, and stomach ulcers. Please feel free to add to this list.
Oh, and rock bottom poverty until he dies.
Don't be so kind, lol!
Give him syphilis, genital herps, and diverticulitis, too.

Bush's "retirement"
HIDE like binLaden.
advice for W.
Run like hell.
Bush's retirement
either hard time in prison - life w/o parole, or rest of his miserable life in some mental institution. Of course the ultimate version of bushwa's retirement should be based upon psychiatric evaluation. If he understands right from wrong, then prison. If he doesn't - insane asylum.
The Honorable Thing, Of Course,
would be hari kari but honorable and George W. Bush are not to be found in the same place. My second choice would be the Nuremberg option.
