Kucinich drops his presidential bid
Submitted by BuzzFlash on Thu, 01/24/2008 - 5:03pm.
Dennis Kucinich has announced that he will drop his presidential bid. Along with John Edwards, Kucinich also ran in 2004.
According to published reports, Kucinich is concentrating on his own re-election to the U.S. House.
For what you may have thought about Kucinich's run, his ideas were important to have in the race. And while most didn't think he had a chance, he did stay in longer than Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, and Bill Richardson.
And thanks to his wife, Elizabeth, who was as strong a partner for a presidential candidate as anyone despite her age and relative good looks. Also thanks Elizabeth for being a good sport about shows that tried to exploit those looks.
So Dennis, thanks for the effort, and we'll see you back in the race in 2016 (hopefully, an incumbent will run in 2012).

A valuable man
My view of Kucinich mirrors that of Gore: devoted, educated, intelligent, creative men of ideas, as as such, aren't practical choices as President.
In a more idealized goverment, the kind I believe our so-called Forefathers desired, these kinds of people are the best choice for President; under our actual, lobby-motivated, individual agenda (and Agenda of The Individual) style goverment, doers like these would be wasted spinning plates of a myriad of issues, never solving a single one.
Elect Edwards/Obama; they then appoint Gore to Director of the EPA, Kucinich as Secretary of the Interior, Wes Clark as Secretary of State, maybe James Brady to the ATF, etc. - we need the full complement of focused, intelligent leadership across the board, without pinning our hopes on the Top-Cheese who will likely be undermined at every turn (IF even elected).
A Valubable Man
And you really THINK Edwards/Obama would appoint those people? They are from totally different "camps". Your theory is a good one, though!
hope for America has died
congradulations America you have committed sucide.Dennis Kucinich was the only man with a plan that could have saved America and so called Democrats turned their back on him with the help of the corporate media. Now i notice "liberal" websites are telling us like they always do a bad democrat aka Clinton or Obama 2 corporate stooges are better then a Republican. wake up it doesn"t matter anymore debt and poverty will destroy whats left of America whether its a Republican or so called Democrat.I think the best message we can send the Democratic party is we aren"t going to vote so go ahead and kiss the behinds of the corporations because you are no different then the Republicans
Get Ready To Vote For Him Anyway
"How?"
"As a write-in candidate."
"But why?"
"Because so far he's the only candidate who, if elected, we can count on to end the Iraq war plus turning things around here at home."
This is so depressing.
I really wanted to vote for Dennis in the primary. He's the only candidate I gave money to. At least he managed to push John Edwards to the Left. Edwards is doing some of Kucinich's material now. That's something, I guess. I sure can't get behind Barack or Hillary at this point, though if the media is choosing our president now, I guess I'll have to warm to the idea. I sure as hell can't take another Republican administration.
Republicrat administration?
I am not sure what's the difference between Clinton admin and bushwa admin, or for that matter Obama admin and bushwa admin. The "change" will be like from the rain into the gutter, or from the fire into the frying pan. The republicrats running for office, those with "D" in front of their names, aren't that much different from those that have "R" in front of their names. If one with "R" is put in the white house, we lose. If one with "D" moves in, the establishment wins.
I still don't see any difference. And I refuse to swallow what media tries to cram down my throat. Oh, I think you should spit it out too, instead of warming up to it.
I decided, just to get that warm and fuzzy feeling, to write in Dennis Kucinich both in the primary and in the presidential election. Just so I can face myself in the mirror, and say: I did NOT screw up. THEY did. My conscience lets me sleep at night.
Win-Win Political Theater
Yes, it is a pity that someone who is willing to speak his mind and represent a kind of righteous anger from the left has been forced from the race. What remains is not much more than a kind of political theatre. The only other candidate who might bring some integrity back to the political scene is being crucified (and, of course I mean Obama) by two shills for the corporate class. The corporate class wins if the Clintons win and wins if the Clintons lose. What a country.
This is a real disappointment...
In 2004, I cast my primary vote for Dennis Kucinich; it was a conscience vote, followed by a hold-my-nose-and-elect-anybody-but-Bush vote in November. With him dropping out before my state's primary this year, I'll have to get out my clothespin early.
Buzzflash Parrots the Propaganda
Buzzflash says, "And while most didn't think he had a chance..."
The most of whom? The most of lazy reporter stenographers? But WE THE PEOPLE did think he had a chance!!! KUCINICH WON EVERY SINGLE ONLINE POLL, which Buzzflash neglected to report, just like the rest of the MSM!!!
Buzzy, you have fallen victim to the propaganda of the MSM, which is the propaganda of the Corporatocracy.
Buzzy, during his presidential campaign, you hardly linked to or commented on Kucininch, especially on what is relevant, namely that Kucinich was the ONLY qualified candidate running for president, and the ONLY candidate actively seeking impeachment of the traitors in the White HOuse, not to be confused with the traitors in Congress, Republican and Democrat alike.
The MSM censored and ignored Kucinich, and you Buzzy went along for a ride on their coattails, unthinking, uncaring, and unreporting.
Thanks for nothing Buzzflash. You blew it big time the way you ignored Kucinich. You do not make a difference. Your actions prove that you do not support change. You are now an official member of the MSM.
Now that our remaining Constitutional rights we still have are about to be taken away from us in HR1955/S1959 I am curious to see if Buzzflash will also continue to ignore this very important story.
Loss of Dennis Kucinich
....stay tuned, folks. There has been buzzing about the possibility of Dennis joining forces with Ron Pau....what a team that would be! Main-stream media has and continues to muzzle the truth about these two candidates. Let's all pray that WE get the last laugh on THEM!
Ron Paul is a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Ron Paul speaks with forked tongue. His rhetoric does not match his voting record in Congress. If you don't believe me, here it is, in all of its anti-Constitutional, pro-corporatocracy gory:

Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich
Wow! I am rather shocked and appalled at some of the vindictiveness expressed by Dennis supporters. I have ALWAYS been cordial to them and never expressed detest for their candidate of choice. In any event, folks, I did not dream up this "team" of Dennis and Paul. Both parties have expressed sincere friendship and though they don't agree on every issue (who does?), they remain recognized friends. Please see the two videos for proof.
As for the website on Ron Paul's congressional record, I think you should REALLY read what he proposes and platforms.....we SHOULDN'T be in the UN, we SHOULD abolish the IRS, etc. We need to return to the passion of our Constitution.
Dennis' wife about Ron Paul: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HjiGuOsKr04 .
You can do a search on YouTube for Jay Leno Ron Paul and view his 1/7 broadcast in which he references his strong friendship with Dennis Kucinich.
Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
That is WAY TOO kind. Ron paul is a little on the nutty side, and a racist bigot to boot. He only appears sane and toward left of center (although I think he is right of center) in public with the cameras rolling.
If you think the past 8 years with the evil shrub and prince of darkness brought racist rabid hatred to the surface, just let him get a little power and we'll see rabid bigotry like the 1850's.
Never Happen
"possibility of Dennis joining forces with Ron Paul"
That is something that could never happen.
They are totally opposite.
Dennis is a liberal and Paul is on the extreme right.

Sorry to see Kucinich quit, but he could never have won.
Demise of Dennis the Menace
Dennis Kucinich had to go and both the corporate media and the corporate-backed Democrats conspired--Oh no, not another conspiracy theory!--to knock him from the presidential race by hiding from most of America that he was even in the race.
Dennis Kucinich was a menace to the powers that be and want to be. The focus of his proposed policies was entirely to the benefit of the heart of America, her citizens. With Dennis as president, the kings and queens of American politics and business, as well as their royalty-makers, would have lost place at court. In some cases they would have found a place in court. In any case, Kucinich would have been intolerable.
For me the highlight of the Kucinich campaign was the moment in one of the "debates" he was allowed to attend when he became so frustrated at being ignored that he resorted to asking himself a question. Ironically, it was also a low-light of his campaign in pointing out the truth in his being ignored.
Of course, the powerful couldn't tolerate any more of his having a national audience in which to point out their inequities, so they began disqualifying, dis-inviting, and generally dissing Dennis.
So, so long, Dennis. It was good to have you in the fight as much as the powers allowed. Best of fortune in Ohio. Keep up the good fight against the Goliaths.

I am sorry
...that the powers that be decided who runs and who does not run for president in this god forsaken country. I am sorry that the people of this god forsaken country get to vote for whom the powers that be tell them to vote.
I am going to sit on my vote, until someone worthy will appear on the political horizon. I am tired of voting for the lesser evil, like I've been voting for last 12 years or so. I am not interested in voting for someone just because s/he has a "D" in front of the last name. With the choices we have, it does not make damn bit of difference who gets the White House - we'll end up with politics as usual and more of bushonomics for the next 4 years.
I do admit I am burned out. There is no use protesting, calling representatives, signing e-petitions etc. etc... No more wasting time for me.
I am too old to be a leader, but if I hear of a revolution taking place in this country, and I like the cause - count me in.
That is what the gop wants...
By making you burned out, they stifle yet another vote. I agree with the points you make to some extent. But we need the stick with 'em attitude (no matter which D is involved) that the re-THUGS have.
Hell, it doesn't matter to the re-THUGs if their candidate strangles kittens on camera.... you damn well bet they will vote for them. Yes, stupid people with stupid politics are VERY LOYAL. That is part of the reason they keep blacking our eyes. (that and election theft)
So, show loyalty even if you are burned out. You know the evil gop is loyal to the very end.
No Go
This doesn't cut it, my friend. It is our duty as American Citizens to keep up this fight. There are already far too many apathetic do-nothings in this country, and we need you out here. As pointless and futile your vote may seem, by giving it up, you also give up your right to complain about the status quo. If the wrong person is elected, our duty is DOUBLED -- we must work TWICE as hard to ensure that our elected representatives uphold their oath of office.

Kucinich aced out of bid
This is truly sad. Kucinich was the only candidate who could have saved this country from certain doom. If you think i'm exaggerating, just watch and see. Time to find another place to live because the poltroons we have to choose from now have already sold us out.
Another place to live?
Unless you mean another PLANET, you're kidding yourself. There *is* no other place, anymore. We're all in it together, my friend.
No Sh*t!
Thanks to the evil dumbya and his redneck foregin policy (for lack of better term) Americans are completly hated all over this planet. No safe harbor anywhere now. And who could blame the other citizens of the planet?
Defeat
The financial elite have won this battle of ideas in the national electoral arena by silencing Kucinich. They have taken healthcare, democratic rights, imperial war, and sovereignty out of the national presidential debate.
Congress is still a battleground and it's important to help raise funds to keep Kucinich in Congress.
Interestingly my local paper just endorsed "universal" healthcare. There is a tide for healthcare reform that Dennis and John Conyers, PDA, and Healthcare NOW have helped articulate and organize. We need to fight at every level for single payer not just universal healthcare. The financial elite want to capture this movement and turn it into mandated insurance. The struggle continues.
