Don't Let the Pelosi Kerfuffle Distract You from the Architects of Torture and Murder: Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush

BUZZFLASH EDITOR'S BLOG

By Mark Karlin

Okay, the diversionary distraction -- so a crime or escape from prison can be committed -- is one of the oldest Hollywood film cliches.

You know, let's say two guys are planning to break out of prison by jumping a fence and hiding in a hamper in the outgoing laundry truck.  So they get a couple of other inmates to start a fight and draw the attention of all the guards.  That way the escaping jailbirds won't be noticed.

That's exactly what Dick Cheney and his family are doing -- assisted by torture loyalists in the CIA and military who fear that they could be prosecuted too.  BuzzFlash -- and the Washington Post, among other newspapers -- long ago reported that a few top Dems in Congress had been vaguely told about the CIA's "harsh interrogation" (but were kept by law from leaking the classified information).  They were even told about warrantless wiretapping.

But so what; their hands were tied because they couldn't tell anyone about what they had heard (and you can be sure that what they heard was watered down from torture and murder) -- and they weren't the ones who engineered the crimes: Cheney masterminded them on the CIA side and Rumsfeld on the Pentagon side.  Dumbo Bush signed off on the torture (which in an estimated 25-200 cases led to murder) because he likes to think that he's a tough guy and he has gotten a thrill running up and down his legs about authorizing violence since he set the record for executions as Governor of Texas.

The Republicans are chronically good at throwing a glass against the wall, and as eyes shift toward the crashing sound stealing the money off the table. Deception is second nature to them.

So let's not hear all this hand-wringing over Nancy Pelosi.  Yes, she was probably told something rather euphemestic about the CIA's actions to "prevent another terrorist attack."  But she's just a bystander to the war crimes.  Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush were driving the bus of war, torture and murder.

No prison break Hollywood "B" movie distraction should allow the three torture and murder amigos to sneak out the back door while we quibble about Pelosi, who actually runs a pretty tight ship in the House (compared to Reid's lack of party discipline in the Senate).

We know who the criminals are; we know enough about the crimes (but will learn more if Cheney's Torture Pushback Tour fails).

Let's get on with the War Crimes indictments, not to mention prosecution for misleading America into a ruinous war.

cheney

why is anyone listenin to cheney? the republican hacks are trying to make pelosi look bad ? after 8 tortuous years of these criminals destroying our country?he is scared to death one of those incarcerated in guantanamo will blow the whistle on him his shenanigans on 9/11. he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. gw too.

World courts will seek justice

You won't see G. W. Bush Jr or Cheney going to Europe any time soon. Because of war crimes, the US will not seek justice but other nations may.Peolsi is just a side track for republicans here in the US to cloud the issue, but other nations seek justice for their citizens and Bush and Cheney are at the top of the list. CIA agents are being tried for renditions and torture played out in 3rd world countries on their citizens.

Why isn't WB used in the US?

Cops tried it in Texas in 1983, they were arrested, tried and jailed for the practice. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15886834 "Cases of waterboarding have occurred on U.S. soil, as well. In 1983, Texas Sheriff James Parker was charged, along with three of his deputies, for handcuffing prisoners to chairs, placing towels over their faces, and pouring water on the cloth until they gave what the officers considered to be confessions. The sheriff and his deputies were all convicted and sentenced to four years in prison."

Peolsi

The "impeachment is off the table" comment came from somewhere. Her refusal to do her sworn duty of oversite has changed our country for the worse. It is now precident (past practice) that we live in a 2 tiered justice system, one for the politicaly powerfull and one for the rest of us. This indignity is on top of the great advantage given to money in our courts, so the possibality of anything like fairness for the average defendent is reduced when compared to the rich and powerfull. I believe whenever Benidict Arnold, or George Bush is mentioned the name Nancy Peolsi should automaticly follow. To her everlasting shame she has caused enormous damage to the U.S. The KING is now law!

The French Revolution Solution was the Guillotine

Some Americans like to refer to them as
"Freedom Blades".

Good point!

The corporate media are using this "issue" to shift the focus away from US-sponsored torture and murder.

AND THE WINNING ANSWER IS--> --> --> -->

so feel free, as i do, to send such letters and feelings to the local news media, both conservative and progressive. copy paragraphs from this blog and paste them into the YOUTUBE (search on pelosi) chatter going on. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD !

Pelosi

This shows that, despite their disarray in other areas, the R's are still the masters of the message. Their discipline is amazing. Through the use of an echo chamber they can move a story as they wish. The Dems. need to take a serious lesson. As Will Rogers said: "I don't belong to an organized political party, I'm a Democrat." Now if the News Channels

Now if the News Channels would sign on to keeping their coverage on track... on torture and those who ordained it... and quit following along every time someone yells "hey, look out the window" something just might get done. But, I've become pessimistic, with an exectutive branch that seems more focused on "Looking forward" than on "Moving forward," reluctant to right the wrongs of the last administration. Until Obama steps up to the plate and gives the go ahead, I am afraid we, as a country, will remain shackled to being a "country that tortures."

country that tortures

And I wholeheartedly concur
