What Will TN Mean For TEA? Will the Convention Energize or Demoralize the Tea Party Movement?
BUZZFLASH DISCUSSION
Honestly, here at BuzzFlash we're not sure what to think of the whole Tea Party convention going on this weekend. Is this the beginning of an effort to get teabaggers on the ballot to challenge the GOP? Or is the convention an effort to merge the rightward moving Republican Party with the Tea Party movement? On the other hand, maybe it's just a bunch a crazy people hanging out together in a hotel. We just can't say.
So we wanted to get the thoughts of our readers. What do you think? What will we hear from the always inflammatory Momma Bear of the movement, Sarah Palin, in her supposed-to-be-televised keynote speech? Will the movement be stronger, weaker, crazier or more disillusioned after this blow-out fundraiser of an event?

While a confluence of morons on this scale is frightening, if the net effect is to a) split the GOP or to b) finally bring their political and ethical dishonesty into such sharp relief in the public eye that no Teabagger will ever hold office again, then I wish them godspeed. So I guess in that respect, I am hoping for a delayed effect; first they are energized and say what they really think in front of cameras, then they are rightfully ostracized from society because of it. (A girl can dream, can't she..)
Hopefully the hotel will not implode from the gravitational density of that much stupidity...
As I See It, ...
... the convention is an attempt by the likes of Dick Armey and the other Republicans who have aligned themselves with the Tea Baggers to send a message to the rest of the GOP (especially those with the fat donation wallets) as to where the real power is. I don't believe they want to take over the GOP as it exists, for it is far too liberal for them (if the GOP being liberal at all is even still possible). They will only accept any members of the Party who swear allegiance GOP-style to join in lockstep with the Tea Party platform. No one else need apply.
So the Tea Baggers certainly are a bunch of crazy people hanging out in a hotel, but back in 1923, who would have thought that a bunch of loud-mouthed, vulgar, street-fighting bar flies would later almost conquer Europe?
