BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Having been a healthcare worker for years, this is the reason the Founding Fathers believed in a separation of church and state. "Reporting from Washington -- The outgoing Bush administration is planning to announce a broad new 'right of conscience' rule permitting medical facilities, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare workers to refuse to participate in any procedure they find morally objectionable, including abortion and possibly even artificial insemination and birth control." This opens the door for all kinds of refusals -- "right of conscience" covers a myriad of convictions depending on personal beliefs. What is right or wrong for some is meaningless for others. "An eye for an eye" is not the way to go! If you have convictions in your job that differs from the law, then for God's sake look for another career -- things such as abortion, birth control, and sterilization have been legal for a long time, and one would have to be brain dead if you entered the healthcare field not knowing abortions are preformed, birth control is prescribed, and sterilization procedures are occurring everyday in a hospital or an outpatient facility, or even in a doctor's office! Besides being unconstitutional, this wrong-headed "moral grounds" thinking opens up a "pandora's box" to many other beliefs that could come back to bite us all in the rear, say "not marrying an interracial couple"!

To all those who actually think racism is a thing of the past -- You are WRONG -- it's alive and still thriving! There are lawmakers who cover up their feelings with words, while racism is raging in their souls just under the public radar, and we all know who they are by their actions and/or inactions. Then there are those racists who are responsible for upholding the law but who are blatantly in your face breaking the laws of the land! Racism still exists and it raises its ugly head where you least expect to find it! Here we have a Justice of the Peace who refuses to obey the law -- "Bardwell now says he stands by his refusal to marry mixed race couples and will not resign." Frankly since he won't resign voluntarily, he should be indicted, stripped of his position, and tried for his crimes in a Federal Court! Stop and think what kind of world this would be if everyone who broke the law, used the excuse that "in my heart I feel the children would suffer"!

So says Charles Krauthammer "...Iraq is a prize -- we can debate endlessly whether it was worth the cost -- of great strategic significance that the administration seems to have no intention of exploiting in its determination to execute a full and final exit." Just who gains from this "great strategic significance"??? An aggressive invasion of a country that did nothing to us was not worth the cost of lives and treasure.

"White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's assertion that the Obama Administration is asking tough questions for the first time on Afghanistan -- and that the Bush Administration was thinking "always about Iraq" -- Rove said: 'What world has he been living in?'" My guess is the real world; certainly not the "My Pet Goat" world, where you Rove and the rest of your ilk resided for 8 very long destructive years! Bush left Afghanistan behind and invaded Iraq a country that had nothing to do with 9-11! You can try and justify an illegal invasion any way you want but Iraq is still an illegal aggressive war, and what you guys thought would be the beginning of a quest to dominate the world actually began the mess we find ourselves in today! 9-11 was the catalyst, the "new Pearl Harbor event" and the opening of a tempest that will continue to rage for years to come! And by the way, why haven't you Mr. Rove been "frog-marched" in handcuffs off to jail, why are you still free to create more havoc and more destruction? I await the day with baited breath and hopeful heart, that day when your mean and nasty sometimes bordering on criminal political methods will be over!

An excerpt from "The Hippocratic Oath... I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone." "Never do harm to anyone"??? Uhh, Every time he votes against "healthcare reform" Phil Gingrey, MD (R-GA) is obeying the HYPOCRITIC OATH of the Repuglicans and denouncing the Hippocratic Oath of physicians! He is actually doing harm to millions!!!
