BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Too bad, really, that this doesn't spell the end of Sarah Palin! Frankly her beef with the "press" is bogus; everytime she opens her mouth we hear about "Sarah Palin," so much so that just hearing her name is nauseating! The last thing America needs is a female version of George W. Bush.

To all those who think the Repuglicans have your best interests at heart -- better think again, better take a long hard look at how they managed to bring America to the brink of disaster! "Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime... Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American homeowners...." How better to control the masses than wiping them out financially -- the Repuglicans want the power of control, they want to rule not to govern and they will do anything to attain their goal!

"The CDC says that southern states, where there is often the greatest emphasis on abstinence and religion, tend to have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and STDs." These statistics should tell someone something about "abstinence" -- "abstinence" doesn't work, it doesn't work, it doesn't work! Preaching, teenage group meetings, purity contracts, and promise rings will never ever take the place of foam and condoms, birth-control pills, and teaching "responsible" sex!

Repuglicans don't care about the uninsured in these United States, they don't even care about the insured in this country; all they care about is finding a way to defeat President Obama, they are "Hoping Obama Fails". "Rush Limbaugh, the de-facto leader of the Republican Party, summed up his desired outcome for the Obama presidency in four words: 'I hope Obama fails.' Just days after he uttered that statement, Limbaugh told his audience, 'There's one thing we gotta stop is health care. I'm serious, now. If they get that, then that's the tipping point.' Nearly eight months later, the right wing's approach to health care reform remains guided by Limbaugh's vision -- they simply hope it fails." I guess Rush Limbaugh really does set the agenda for the Repuglican Congress of the United States of America. Just think a radio talk show host pedaling hate everyday tells Repuglican Senators and Repuglican Representatives what to do, and how to govern, no wonder this country is in the mess we're in -- the Repuglicans and Rush Limbaugh in 8 years succeeded in creating the turmoil and trouble we find ourselves in today, and sadly they're doing their very best to keep on keeping on!

The Repuglicans are trying to make something out of the mention that some doctors will do some procedures to make more money, the Repugs are trying to make that sound like it never happens. Well I'm here to tell you a true story about an old lady, 96 years old to be exact, who had no relatives and lived in a board and care facility. This old lady had a living will, dated, signed, and notarized on her chart that came with her when she presented to the hospital ER with a massive stroke, she was transferred to the ICU for further care -- numerous labs had been ordered and the attending physician was notified when the results of those labs were obtained. He immediately ordered Respitatory Therapy to put her on a respirator, the physician was told about her living will and her desire not to have machines that would prolong her life -- he said, "oh we can reverse her condition, we can get her well" -- again he was told about her living will and his reply was "put her on the respirator"! Sadly it took her three weeks to die on that respirator, and twice a day for three weeks that Doctor came to the ICU and wrote progress notes on her chart, more often than not he never even walked into her room, she had no family that he had answer to, he didn't even try to talk to her, but he collected $209 from Medicare for a hospital visit every time he wrote those notes, that was $418 a day for three weeks: a total of $8778. Did I mention this was a month before Christmas, a time when some doctors do choose to pick up a little extra cash. As indicated by her living will, this old lady never intended to spend her last three weeks on earth in a hospital ICU on a respirator, but she did!
