BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Sadly those who remained silent in election 2000 can't shut-up today.  Their attempts to gain political points here at home are causing problems in Iran. The Repuglicans are giving voice and motive to the misconception that the United States is involved in the Iranian people's fight for human rights. "Referring to the tight race between Democrat Al Gore and Republican George W. Bush in 2000 and other U.S. Presidential elections, Qashqavi said: 'No one in that race encouraged the American people to stage a riot or anything like that and it was actually the (U.S. Supreme Court) that solved the issue.'"  Given the results of the 8 years of Bush/Cheney, we should have been in the streets protesting in 2000!

"SEN. THOMPSON: I think it's important that the United States is taking a strong stand for, for, for freedom, as we always have, and, and better late than never." "GRAHAM: ... he's [President Obama] been timid and passive more than I would like, and I hope he will continue to speak truth to power. ... Any time America stands up for freedom, we're better off." "GRASSLEY: Well, I believe that we could be more forceful than we have, and I believe that the United States being a democracy for 200 years, we've bragged about what we want to do, extending democracy around the world." "Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said...'If America stands for democracy and all of these demonstrations are going on in Tehran and other cities over there, and people don't think that we really care, then obviously they're going to question, 'do we really believe in our principles?' Grassley said."

Where were these guys in 2000???  Why weren't they concerned about "DEMOCRACY" right here at home when the SUPREME COURT wrested the vote from the American people and appointed George W. Bush to the Presidency?  Didn't hear any self-righteous criticisms from them then, Noooo, they were mum, silent, quiet as mice, what HYPOCRITES, every last one of them!

"GRAHAM: ... When we try to prop up dictators or remain silent, it comes back to bite us. You know, Ronald Reagan spoke in front of the Berlin wall, he said tear it down ... This regime is corrupt. It has blood on its hands in Iran. They've killed Americans in Iraq, innocent Iraqi people; now they're killing their own people. Stand up with the protesters. That's not meddling. That's doing the right thing."  Lindsey, Lindsey, Lindsey, didn't your mother ever tell you "silence is golden"?  Consider yourself "bitten"!  Have you forgotten Ronald Reagan provided "this regime"  with the weapons to kill!  "... there's a special Tehranian tic buried deep in the Republican party. It was, after all, the 1979 hostage crisis that paved the way for Ronald Reagan's presidency, and it was his decision to sell arms to the ayatollahs ..." We'd all be better off if you and your fellow Repuglicans would just shut-up!

"The Iran protests have thrown Republican ideologues into such a tizzy of circular logic that they're stepping on their own propaganda." Now that we, the American people, know there are people in Iran, people who want true democracy, people who are willing to die for freedom, it is really next to impossible for the Repuglicans to "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran"!  It is impossible to trust anything that a Repuglican says, they had to know there were millions of innocent people in Iran when they were chanting along with John McCain!

"As more Georgians are forced to seek health insurance on their own, many are learning painful lessons ... Policies are suddenly canceled. Monthly premiums rival the size of mortgage payments. Huge bills go unpaid because of surprising gaps in coverage." "Monthly premiums the size of mortgage payments, surprising gaps in coverage", uninsured "preexisting conditions", doctors and hospitals limited to "lists", treatment must be preapproved -- it's all because the bottom line is PROFITS rather than HEALING the SICK!  Actually this isn't a problem limited to Georgians, it's a universal healthcare problem for everyone in the United States of America!  Healthcare has become a business in America and that's wrong!
