BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

In answer to a question from a friend, no I’m not afraid of Ms. Palin!  I am afraid of what she and John McCain will do to America if elected!  I am afraid that Democracy will lose in this battle for dominance with the Repuglican Party!  Due to Repuglicans, be it incompetence or intentional neglect and ignorance we’ve suffered the worst attack to ever occur on our soil, we’ve seen the Repuglicans successfully pull off an illegal, preemptive, unnecessary war in Iraq even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, we’ve had to suffer the deaths of over 4155 soldiers, our sons and daughters, and the deaths of countless innocent Iraqi citizens that included the horror of the deaths of innocent children, we’ve had to endure the shame and the horror of incompetent and incomplete medical treatment for our veterans returning from that war with life changing injuries, we’ve had to endure the shame of Repuglican authorization for torture and abuse, we’ve seen the trouble and the difficulties that Repuglican intimidation and bullying can create, we’ve watched the Repuglicans divide our country with derision and disdain, we’ve watched the loss of our civil rights and civil liberties, we’ve seen the economy go from surpluses to deficits, we’ve seen more and more Americans without health insurance, we’ve seen a decline in public education due to a Repuglican desire and drive to eliminate public education, we here in America have had to endure the loss of our jobs, our livelihood, and all the horrific problems that having no job causes. Katrina showed just how little the Repuglicans care about America and the American people, the neglect and the disregard was overwhelming! And did I mention that it’s been 7 long years and Bin Laden has not been captured?  I could continue on and on but the point is that Repuglicans, be they Bush/Cheney or McCain/Palin, are NOT good for America!  Four more years of the same is exactly what I fear!!!

Regarding all the flak over “lipstick on a pig”, I’d say, if the shoe fits wear it!!!!

Remembering Rovian rule 101, attack your opponent on their strengths, and then watching Palin/McCain attempting to portray themselves as agents for change, I can’t help but wonder, exactly what is it these two are planning to change???  My grandmother always says, “if you don’t learn your lessons the first time around, then you are bound to repeat them”!  And if there’s one thing we don’t need it's 4 more years of George Bush, which is all these two Bush clones, McCain and Palin represent!!!

Much ado has been made by conservatives of “sexism” recently!  John McCain and the McCain campaign are certainly guilty of “sexism”!  The issue of “Respect and deference” is in itself “sexist”! Had John McCain’s choice for VP been a man and had that man gone on the attack and misrepresented his experience, had he refused access to the press to account for his tenure while mayor, governor, or dishwasher for that matter, had he refused to account for his actual lack of experience, you can bet your bippy that man would have been booed, shoed, and run out of town.  There wouldn’t have been any question of “respect or deference”!  A self-proclaimed “pit-bull in lipstick” does not deserve “respect or deference,” she gave that up when she began telling bald-faced lies and when she misrepresented her record!

I happened to catch some of the McCain/Palin speechifying on the tube yesterday, with Palin doing all the talking. I couldn’t help but think, standing slightly behind Ms. Palin, John McCain seemed like an impotent puppet on a string, pointing, smiling and clapping on cue, whenever Ms. Palin pulled his string!  Unlike anything presidential, McCain looked like a “groupie” enamored over this “stage-crafted,” packaged up for public consumption, latest big name in the news! Since he has absolutely no charisma, and since his POW story has been told so many times and has grown old and boring, since he has nothing else to package, the Repuglicans had to come up with something, anything to try to sell John McCain to the public!!! Just like all the other Repuglican unqualified and without substance made for television commercial activity that is also becoming boring!

Some data that should put an end to that radical right myth that the media is “liberal”!  “GENERAL ELECTRIC -- (donated 1.1 million to GW Bush for his 2000 election campaign)”  GE owns NBC and co-owns MSNBC with Microsoft.  “Microsoft donated 2.4 million to get Bush elected”;  “WESTINGHOUSE / CBS INC.-- Westinghouse Electric Company, part of the Nuclear Utilities Business Group of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL), who's #1 on the Board of Directors? None other than: Frank Carlucci (of the Carlyle Group)”; “DISNEY / ABC / CAP (donated 640 thousand to GW's 2000 campaign)”.  In actuality it has become a “you get what you pay for” kind of world!  In keeping with today’s corporate climate, no matter how much money you spend, you don’t always get the best quality!

It’s what my grandmother would call a “one track-mind”! Further proof that the bottom-line oriented, ultra conservative, mainstream corporate media is narrow-minded and totally conservative, here it is: “MSNBC Takes Incendiary Hosts From Anchor Seat -- MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.  That experiment appears to be over.  After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night.”  There is no Liberal here -- it’s a prime example of NBC intimidating and coercing their reporters into presenting a conservative bias and it stinks!  Perhaps NBC hasn’t noticed: Chris Matthews has been all conservative, all the time, ever since G.W. stole the presidency!!!!
