BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Scott McClellan, 5 years too late: “What I do know is that war should only be waged when necessary, and the Iraq war was not necessary.”

* * *

“Larry Beinhart: The New York Times perpetuates the myth it created -- that Bush won Florida in 2000.” That's how “myths” are created; publishing dishonest headlines! The when the most destructive “myth” America has ever endured was created; after the Supreme Court of the United States of America appointed a president! The why “myths” are created; in the end an attempt by mainstream corporate media to try and save their reputations and thus their behinds!

“… the national press corps was probably too deferential to the White House and to the administration in regard to the most important decision facing the nation during my years in Washington, the choice over whether to go to war in Iraq. ‘The collapse of the administration’s rationales for war, which became apparent months after our invasion, should never have come as such a surprise. … In this case, the ‘liberal media’ didn’t live up to its reputation. If it had, the country would have been better served.” A myth that can finally be put to rest -- the “liberal media”! I cannot remember a time when the “media” was really “liberal”! They at times have reported a truth that was blatantly undeniable, case in point Hurricane Katrina, but for the most part, much to the detriment of America, the “media” has been lock-step mimics of conservatism! Conservatism, in their quest for power, has become the most corrupt, the most dishonest and fraudulent bunch of crooks to ever descend upon Washington, D.C. in the entire history of America. Conservatism has destroyed Democracy and desecrated America’s reputation!

“McClellan charges that Bush relied on ‘propaganda’ to sell the war. He says the White House press corps was too easy on the administration during the run-up to the war.” Not so funny now, is it? “A slide showed … Bush in the Oval office, leaning to look under a piece of furniture. ‘Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere,’ he told the audience, drawing applause. Another slide showed him peering into another part of the office, ‘Nope, no weapons over there,’ he said, laughing. ‘Maybe under here,’ he said, as a third slide was shown.” Mainstream corporate media aided and abetted Bush’s war in Iraq, they helped make possible all the death and destruction caused by an illegal, preemptive, unnecessary war, and I don’t find anything at all funny about that!

“President Bush ‘veered terribly off course,’ was not ‘open and forthright on Iraq,’ and took a ‘permanent campaign approach’ to governing at the expense of candor and competence. Among the most explosive revelations in the 341-page book, titled ‘What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception’…McClellan charges that Bush relied on ‘propaganda’ to sell the war.” The lies Bush told and the mistakes he made amount to crimes against humanity, and the same truths that some of us have known since the very beginnings are now verified! And what a sad state of affairs it is; thousands upon thousands of people have died unnecessarily because of the arrogance, the greed, the subterfuge, the incompetence, the stubbornness, and the downright stupidity of George W. Bush!

And this: “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception” is what John McCain intends to continue for as long as it takes!!!

* * *

If the RNC really believes, that a lapse in memory "questions judgment and readiness to lead as commander-in-chief," then their guy McCain certainly isn't ready to be commander-in-chief many, many times over! "McCain confronted with new Iran gaffe, gets facts wrong again" ... "wherever John McCain goes these days, it seems, Joseph I. Lieberman is there. When McCain needed a quick reminder in Jordan last week on how to characterize Islamic radicals in Iraq receiving aid from Iran, Lieberman was there to whisper into his colleague's ear. A day later in Israel, the Connecticut senator proved equally helpful, stepping in to help McCain clarify the meaning of the Jewish holiday of Purim" ... "look at what John McCain, Mr. foreign policy experience, said today ... ‘when President Reagan was president of the united states. He didn't sit down in a negotiation with the religious extremists in Iran' ... once again, McCain has demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge about foreign policy and American history. First he got confused over Sunnis and Shiites, now this. McCain seems to be forgetting something kind of important that happened during the Reagan administration. It's called the Iran-Contra scandal." and so it goes, over and over again, "questions" regarding McCain's "judgment and readiness to be commander-in-chief"!

* * *

Much to the chagrin of the Regressive Repuglicans, John McCain, and some HRC fans, the truth has set him, Obama, free.“ … in fact, Obama's uncle (his grandmother's brother) helped liberate the Nazi camp at Buchenwald (Obama mixed up Auschwitz and Buchenwald) ... Obama's family did in fact help save the Jews in Europe… Obama's uncle's Infantry Division didn't just liberate one of the camps that made up Buchenwald. It was the first Nazi concentration camp liberated by US troops in all of Germany. That's pretty amazing.”
