BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Seems the "chatter" regarding al Qaida has also picked up in the United States of late! "... President Bush on Thursday called al Qaida 'the main enemy' in Iraq ... The reference, in a major speech at the Naval War College that referred to al Qaida at least 27 times ..." and then there's, "McCain's Iraq Speech Today Mentions Al Qaeda 15 Times" followed by, "KING: Michael Chertoff, our director of homeland security, has a gut feeling about terrorism coming this summer," and then there's the latest NIE, "The new National Intelligence Estimate will warn that al Qaeda will try to use its capabilities and contacts in Iraq to attack the United States, according to a senior government official." Is this truth or consequences?????

George Bush: "The Scooter Libby decision was, I thought, a fair and balanced decision." Yeah, just about as "fair and balanced" as FOX NEWS!

"Christian Right Activists Disrupt Hindu Chaplain In The Senate." Extremism is intolerable, wherever it's found. In the hallowed halls of the United States Senate, we find religious bigotry, American style! If irrational fanatics are allowed to continue destroying the line of separation between church and state, we'll all find ourselves living in a country driven by the ideology of a radical extremist version of fundamentalist Christianity. We will no longer have the right to choose how to or how not to worship God!!!

"Today the Washington Post notes that some members of the military are worried that 'the general is being set up by the Bush administration as a scapegoat if conditions in Iraq fail to improve. "The danger is that Petraeus will now be painted as failing to live up to expectations and become the fall guy for the administration ..."'" Congratulations, General Petraeus, you are the latest in a long line of “scapegoats”! George Bush and Dick Cheney will use you, abuse you, and then they will blame you! What may have seemed a general's opportunity in this horror called war has turned into a catastrophic tragedy! Frankly, you should have known better!

"MOORE: ... when are you going to just stand there and apologize to the American people for not bringing the truth to them that isn't sponsored by some major corporation? BLITZER: ... This is a business, obviously." Straight from the horse's mouth: "This is a business"! Is it news or is it a corporate sponsored "Info-TAINT-ment Business" meant to infect and attempt to control public opinion?

If indeed we are to be afraid, then fear those who are really doing us harm, right here within the United States! The guys who believe the end justifies the means, the same guys who have no intention of leaving office come 2008!

"Regrettably, the unthinkable now becomes thinkable and raises the question: Would Mr. Cheney exploit the broad language of Presidential Directive #51? Is he, that is, capable of planning first, the Directive itself, and second, a "disruptive," perhaps foreign, "incident" and then seizing power? No other vice president since Aaron Burr would ever even slightly warrant such suspicion. In Mr. Cheney's case, National Security Directive No. 51, raises the hackles on a prudent man's spine. The wise course is therefore now to use the Constitution as the founders intended that it be used and to take the initiative to enforce restraint of those who would act like kings, perhaps before it is too late. For these and other reasons, the movement to impeach them both is gaining ground across the country. It is the work of patriots."

To Ms. Pelosi I would say, your oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America includes impeaching a president who flagrantly disregards said Constitution and illegally makes up his own set of laws! My grandmother used to say, "If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen," which translates to, if you won't file articles of impeachment then get someone who will! Our democracy depends on it!"

"Obama, a Harvard law school graduate and former lecturer on constitutional law at the University of Chicago, said impeachment should not be used as a standard political tool. 'I think you reserve impeachment for grave, grave breaches, and intentional breaches of the president's authority,' he said." Oh, Mr. Obama, you disappoint me -- if taking America to war on trumped up charges isn't a "grave, grave breach" and an "intentional breach," then I don't know the meaning of grave or intentional!
