Anyone who "thinks" that he is "thinking" when refering to Obama as a socialist is, in actuality, incapable of "thinking". Thinking involves cogitating. Cogitating requires a pair of matched right and left cerebral hemispheres with neurons capable of synapsing. Those creatures who noisily shout out Socialist in response to hearing Obama's name, as their sticky tongues flick out to slurp up a June bug or stink bug or dung beetle are only responding to stimuli to the highest of their cranial evolutionary development, the limbic system, commonly known as the lizard brain.

Totally college level words, dude! It sure is easy to call someone who has a different opinion a lizard brain. Do you think that constitutes a serious argument? The right has several observations about Obama's policies, writings, and associates which are at least consistent with socialist views. Do you believe the American people are entitled to input into the policies of their government, even in between elections? I do, and I think the debate on socialism is legitimate. If you think it is not, please say why. As a capitalist, I opposed the bank and auto bailouts. They should have gone through bankruptcy, though not necessarily liquidation. I am not sure bailouts should be classified as socialist, but they are surely anti-capitalist. You may be surprised to hear that true conservatives are willing to help out poor people in some situations, but ABHOR welfare for the rich.

The 24/7 right-wing propoganda tools are THAT good.  My parents, too, are literally addicted to FOX "news", and routinely spout "talking points" with no basis in reality. 

I've watched their personalities change over the years since FOX came on the air: they are far more radical, angry and fearful than they were before this media giant took hold of their minds.  (They were always conservative, but not like this.) Since they're retired, FOX news is on their television from the time they awake until the time they go to bed.  When they drive, they listen to right wing hate radio.

I almost suspect that if Glenn Beck told them to take up arms and kill "liberals", these once mild-mannered elderly conservatives just might consider doing it.  That's how strong a hold the propoganda has.

I sent an email to a rabidly anti-Obama hater acquaintance.

In it, I explained much of what was in the Pizzo article and the positive attributes of Obama as a family man, a scholar who had made his own way, had penned his own books to become wealthy, was trying to help people like her (poor and unemployed at 62) etc.

The following morning, my inbox was flooded with more than 60 pieces of right wing propaganda about Muslims, Obama not being a US citizen, Obama being a racist and socialist and on and on. I was flabberghasted by the reaction.

People of that type cannot accept truth or logic. They would prefer anarchy to Obama.

It is rare that the charge of racism is valid these days. To even make it credible requires a deep understanding of what is in a person's heart or a specific proposal to limit the rights of some ethnic group. (Just my opinion, of course). Certainly I don't believe that Obama is in any way a racist. That doesn't mean that he and/or his administration never use the issue of race as a political weapon. I believe they do. The amateurish response from some conservatives (e.g. "no, YOU ARE the racists) is not a symptom of racist feelings, but a frustration with being labelled a racist for any disagreement with the Obama administration.

The non-citizen and muslim charges are hardly mainstream conservative views. Far more progressives believe that 9/11 was planned by Dick Cheney.

I have never heard or read anybody say that anarchy is preferable to Obama....unless you consider President Palin to be an anarchist. (heh heh).

I told her she had an inate ability to plumb the abyssal depths of stupidity and ignorance with effortless ease. All I got in reply was a blank stare of incomprehension.

Some of our people simply don't DESERVE to be American citizens, since they contribute absolutely NOTHING to the collective good.

There was a study done recently just about this type of reaction to facts. I can't remember the name of the study but it mainly said that for many facts don't effect what they want the truth to be. They want Obama to be negative and it doesn't matter what proof you show them they will continue to think of him in the negative ways.

It is tough to rebut an unreferenced study about claimed facts versus opinions. Do you have a fact detector which reliably distinguishes fact from fiction? If not, maybe they are right and you are wrong. I can't be more specific, since you didn't cite a single case.
