Ruth Lopez: Bush Fails?

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
The only problem with analyzing the Bush Administration's performance is that we keep measuring them by the yardstick of our values and beliefs, so we are confused when the results they get are so at odds to what we believe should be happening.

We think that because we would really want to get the people behind 9/11 that the Bush Administration would too. Wrong.

We think that since we would never destroy another country that was not threat to us for oil and war profiteering contracts that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we would never let an American city drown so that an entire state's demographics could be mainpulated that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that since we would never move an entire minority population out of a city so that we can claim eminent domain for our rich white Republican donors who will take the land for pennies on the dollar that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we would not allow a class of landed aristocracy to form by removing any taxation on their vast landed wealth so that their heirs can inherit wealth without taxes into perpetuity that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we would never allow a class of indentured non-citizens to work and live without representation, benefits, a livable wage and at the mercy of their corporate masters for the hope of citizenship that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we wouldn't turn over control of our ports to foreigners that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we wouldn't sell our roads to foreigners who can then charge us tolls to drive on the roads built with our taxes that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that since we would not shred the Constitution and deny any American their right to due process that they wouldn't either. Wrong.

We think that because we wouldn't send our children to die for lies that they wouldn't either.

And, this one they wouldn't. Send their children to die, that is. The difference is that we don't want their children, or anyone's children, to die for lies. Our children they have no problem sending. If we make the mistake of thinking that they care about our dead children coming home in boxes we will be wrong.

We think that because their children are real to us that our children are real, and therefore matter, to them as well as us. Really, stupendously, tragically, fatally wrong. Wrong with a capitol "W."

If you listen to their words, their actions make no sense and they seem incompetent. If you watch their actions and the results they have acheived, they have been horrifyingly successful.

They are creating their America: Of the Corporate War-mongers, For the Corporate War-mongers, By the Corporate War-mongers

Great piece!

The problem with the Religious Right is that they talk about Jesus and they follow Ayn (as in MINE) Rand. They ARE a house divided and we remember all too well what Lincoln said about that situation. It's only a matter of time before it collapses.

Ruth Lopez

Brilliant, simply brilliant. Ruth Lopez my hat is off to you, never have I seen anyone put such an obvious truth into prose that is so understandable to all including the rats that she is writing about. Nicely done. "We can put television in its proper light by supposing that Gutenberg's great invention had been directed at printing only comic books." -- Robert M. Hutchins, educator (1899-1977)

Stinking Thinking

You're so right. We can't allow the sort of stinking thinking that they do, to affect us in anyway. If we could just get that through our heads, we'd make a lot more progress. That really needed to be pointed out and I thank you for doing it. Congratulations on having your article posted. Ilook forward to hearing more from you. I just had my first contributor's article posted also. It's called "Impeach The President," I guess it will appear in this evening's Buzzflash edition. If you get a chance have a look at it, and please sign the 'impeach Bush now' petition. The url is at the bottom. Again, congratulations and let's keep up the fight. June

I fully agree

Ruth, very well said!! It frustrates me fully that Bush claims to get his direction from God, but if we compare Jesus' statements about the poor with Bush's policies, it becomes clear thet Bush is marching to the tune of a different god. As much as I enjoy poking fun at Bushisms, we make a terrible mistake if we believe that he is the fool he appears to be. tseving -Surviving Bush one day at a time
