Stevie Gardiner: The Real John McCain

John McCain is a legendary war hero who truly deserves our gratitude for his 5 ½ years in the Hanoi Hilton. However when it comes to being president, we vote for the man not the legend.
The truth is that John McCain was born into a privileged family. Both his father and grandfather were admirals in the Navy. Like George W. Bush, McCain's daddy got him into college -- the U.S. Naval Academy. McCain graduated 5th in his class from the Naval Academy -- 5th from the bottom that is (894 out of 899).
Upon returning from Vietnam, McCain started cheating on his wife. He soon divorced her for a millionaire beer heiress who financed his political career. How's that for family values? By comparison, Obama is still married to the same woman.
McCain was deeply involved in the Keating Five scandal, yet likes to question Obama's judgment. Hypocrisy anyone?
McCain's wife Cindy estimates the family fortune at $100 million dollars; they own at least 7 houses and pay their servants over $270,000 a year to care for those houses. John McCain likes to wear $500 Ferragamo loafers, and yet he has the gall to call Obama elitist.
A single mother, who just got by financially, raised Obama. He went to college on scholarships and student loans, which he just recently paid off. You tell me who the elitist is?
John McCain got by with a little help from his family and friends, while Barack Obama got by with hard work and perseverance. One worked his way to the top, while the other bought his way to the top. After Vietnam, what has McCain really done other than be a typical, hypocritical Republican politician?
Eight years ago, he spoke out against the far-right "Agents of Intolerance." This campaign, he embraced the Robertsons, Falwells, and Hagees of the far-right religious fringe. Maverick no more, McCain will say and do anything to get elected. He lost his moral compass in search of power.
We can't afford this McCain or 4 more years of the Bush/GOP nightmare.

Getting into the Naval Academy
Not even "possible"? Are you serious?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Naval_Academy
"Candidates are nominated by their senator, representative, or delegate in Congress, and those appointed at large are nominated by the Vice President... They can nominate people in a competitive manner, or they can have a principal nomination. In a competitive nomination, all ten applicants are reviewed by the academy, to see who is the most qualified. If the congressman appoints a principal nominee, then as long as that candidate is physically, medically, and academically found qualified by the academy, he or she will be admitted, even if there are more qualified applicants... The Secretary of the Navy may appoint 170 enlisted members of the Regular and Reserve Navy and Marine Corps to the Naval Academy each year. Additional sources of appointment are open to children of career military personnel (100 per year);"
And to further suggest that "it doesn't carry any weight at the admissions board. Never has, never will" is also ridiculous. There is no way you could possibly know whether it carries any weight (past, present and future) with them unless you were not only one of the admission board members, but ALL of the admission board members ........ past, present, and future.
That's quite a trick.
