The FOX News Southern Strategy Gets the David Duke Thumbs Up: KKK Approved!

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION

By One Citizen

I'm sure by now most of your readers know about Fox News' "fist bump" and his "baby mama" crapola. (Not to mention Liz Trotta laughing off the potential assassination of Barack Obama.)

x

But here's a bit more background of which  (from FAIR), which many of your readers may not be aware:

Fox's founder and president, Roger Ailes, was for decades one of the savviest and most pugnacious Republican political operatives in Washington, a veteran of the Nixon and Reagan campaigns. Ailes is most famous for his role in crafting the elder Bush's media strategy in the bruising 1988 presidential race. With Ailes' help, Bush turned a double-digit deficit in the polls into a resounding win by targeting the GOP's base of white male voters in the South and West, using red-meat themes like Michael Dukakis' "card-carrying" membership in the ACLU, his laissez-faire attitude toward flag-burning, his alleged indifference to the pledge of allegiance--and, of course, paroled felon Willie Horton.

Described by fellow Bush aide Lee Atwater as having "two speeds--attack and destroy," Ailes once jocularly told a Time reporter (8/22/88): "The only question is whether we depict Willie Horton with a knife in his hand or without it." Later, as a producer for Rush Limbaugh's short-lived TV show, he was fond of calling Bill Clinton the "hippie president" and lashing out at "liberal bigots" (Washington Times, 5/11/93). It is these two sensibilities above all--right-wing talk radio and below-the-belt political campaigning--that Ailes brought with him to Fox, and his stamp is evident in all aspects of the network's programming

Back in 2005, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman publicly stated "It's not healthy for the country for our political parties to be so racially polarized,", and went on to apologize for their past political tactic known as the "Southern Strategy".

If that's true, and the GOP's ensuing apology was sincere, then why is the GOP letting Fox "News" and Roger Ailes get off so easy with this racist divisiveness

Never mind. Sean Hannity's already let slip the answer to that question, hasn't he?

Please find above my original photoplay (spoof) of Ailes explaining just what's going on over at his network.

And remember to attend the FOX News staff picnic this year:

The good news is that Wall Street is going for Obama, according to recent news (posted on BuzzFlash.net), as are major Republican donors -- the Sciafe name comes to mind (although it might be the missus). Obama's funds come from me and thee -- and can be tapped over and over again. A recent LA Times article has pointed out that he will be able to handle the swift-boating to come easily, unlike Kerry, who had to wait for the Federal funding to kick in. The Obama anti-scat machine is already established, for that matter -- from the Seattle Times: "On fightthesmears.com, Obama's aides wrote out and deconstructed five of the nastiest rumors, one by one." Current KKK is NOT a "Southern" Organization

As you can see, the current KKK carries the Federal US Flag, and has always been a Northern entity since the 1950's and before ! This org. has always carried the US Federal flag. They are a Federalizied Yankee Northern organization, NOT SOUTHERN ! The REAL ORIGINAL Klus Klaus Klan the south had after the Lincoln invasion and devastation was more like the Red Cross that was a group of men who helped and protected the children and widows of both whites and blacks from the Northern Federalists who were STILL killing them long after the war was over! The LACK of TRUE education is so evident today, it's hardly worth reading ANY articles anymore ! All they show is the ignorance of TRUE history and Federal brainwsashing they have all been a part of. People really need to learn TRUE history before they go writing up articles and state lies as fact ! The Yankee Northern Federalists are well known for doing this, as the propaganda they call 'history' has been force-fed to all in their Federal schools for the past 148 years ! Learn something REAL for once - http://home1.gte.net/carriet/KKK_Truth.htm

For a TRUE history of racially divisive politics in the US

and the KKK go here http://www.stetsonkennedy.com/jim_crow_guide/index.html Either way, you're missing the point, CSA citizen. The use of a SOUTHERN STRATEGY whether by the GOP or FOX as their surrogate is unAmerican and should be stopped. Or perhaps you don't think so?

Before you educate us

You will have to start referring to the Southern side as a bunch of traitors committing treason by taking up arms against their legitimate government. Once you do that, we'll talk about the history of the KKK.

You're full of it

I was born is East Texas and have lived all over the Southwest, currently in CA. Racism exists everywhere, but the deep south is the worst and the KKK is a southern terrorist organization. Just because there are racists and some Klansman in the north doesn't make your dixie any better, they are the scum of the earth.

A DIE-HARD REALIST...

What you've written/presented is only PART of the Truth - like 9/11/01, '93 WTC Bombing & the KC Bombing. All 3 of the aforemented events were PHONY 'false flags' with the CIA & FBI 'at the wheel'. As for your comment, check the history of the KKK in TN & KY. Today, it's morphed into support for a 'world view' that is destructive to this Republic and a STUPID OLD MAN who'd FINISH flusing America down the Toilet & start a WORLDWIDE war over other folks OIL!

"Current KKK is NOT a "Southern" Organization"

Besides the obvious fact that this discussion of the roots of the KKK is totally irrelevant to the original article, the comment is absurd. The term, "Southern Strategy" comes from the Nixon campaign. Nixon took advantage of the prevalent racist sentiment in the south to turn what had historically been a solid Democratic stronghold into a Republican stronghold, in the wake of the civil rights movement and desegregation. The same holds true of FOX news; it is a media outlet for racist, misogynistic, xenophobic views. It follows the Southern Strategy. I have lived in the north and the south. Neither is free of racism, right-wing influences, and oppressive religious fundamentalism. However, these attitudes are far more common in the "bible belt" states. FOX News targets these same populations, and influences their voting through fear mongering and xenophobia, just as the KKK and other hate groups do.

The FOX News Southern Strategy

Right on, One Citizen. FOX Noise is nothing more than a partisan, racist sound machine. Calling themselves a news network is about a disingenuous as Bush calling himself a "man of peace." There is a dilemma here. As far as the partisan media is concerned, the rights of free speech imply the right to lie without consequences. The media no longer has any guidelines, self-imposed or otherwise, concerning honesty and accuracy in reporting. Eliminating the Fairness Doctrine allowed propaganda to replace journalism. Networks such as FOX have replaced journalists with right-wing think tanks, who invent the "news" to fit the agenda. How can we bring honesty and objectivity back to journalism, without compromising free speech rights?

The people will demand truth

protectdemocracy, good call. You ask:

"How can we bring honesty and objectivity back to journalism, without compromising free speech rights?"

Obama has brought honesty and integrity back into campaign elections. He has motivated many new and regular voters with hope and empowered them to get involved in the political process, and exercise their voice. This movement will go forward, regardless if he wins the election or not.

Faced with steadily rising gas, food and necessity prices, fear has spread across middle class Americans to their core. They understand what got us into this mess, and those media whores who misled them will suffer the rage of the masses who will be fed up with the spin, propaganda and lies.

Unethical media pundits will fall by the wayside, heavily judged by the masses and ethical pundits calling them out from under their rocks, ie, Keith Olbermann. Americans always had the power in their hands. They simply let it slip away by letting fear, greed and their own transgressions get in the way.

Poverty, anger and the right leaders emerging from the shadows will bring objectivity and honesty to the fore like we've never seen it before.

We are ripe for it.

The people will demand truth

I wish I could share your optimism, deepseas. Our history teaches us that those who suffer most from right-wing corporate control of government continue to elect right-wing corporate-controlled governments. Fear and racism take priority over economic needs and rational thinking at election time. I can assure you that there are millions of poor, unemployed or underemployed, uninsured Americans who have already decided to vote for McCain simply because of Obama's skin color or his perceived Muslim heritage. These same people would find themselves stuck in poverty with no hope for escape under a McCain presidency, but the fear and hatred factors overshadow the rational needs of individual heath and welfare. Fortunately for Obama, most of those voters who will shun him because of his race or his father's ancestors' religion are die-hard Republicans anyway. He has lost very few Democratic voters due to his ethnicity. As for the media, Money Talks (I won't bother posting the second half of that line). The right-wing sound machine is supported by multi-billion dollar media empires, and is fed "information" by well-funded, corporate-sponsored think tanks. Our side has a few dedicated volunteers and some small, struggling entrepreneurs to get our message out to the public. Progressive journalism, while it was a small but vocal factor in past, has all but disappeared from the corporate media (God bless Keith Olbermann). Maybe Americans are so fed up with the lies of the current Republican-Neocon-Theocrat alliance that Obama has a chance. If anyone can do it, it's probably Obama. His personal attributes, his personal intellect, and his political savvy, make him a very exciting candidate for president. He will out-raise and out-spend McCain in terms of legitimate campaign funds because of his own talents and appeal. However, he will be fighting the huge Republican-corporate political machine, that will outspend him 5:1 with soft money and Swiftboat-style attacks. McCain is an idiot; a total incompetent who doesn't know what he thinks from one day to the next, unless his handlers keep a short leash on him (he's in favor of a path to legitimate residency for illegal aliens one day, he favors arresting and deporting all of them the next day; he favors privatization of social security one day, he's opposed to it the next day; he strongly opposes the use of torture on prisoners of war, but then votes to allow it.....the list goes on). In a rational world, he wouldn't get enough votes to finish second in a two-person field. This is not a rational world. The right-wing money machine has not yet begun to fight. .
