Greg Palast on THE Mosque for BuzzFlash: Why Not Ban All Churches From Oklahoma Because McVeigh Was Christian?

GREG PALAST FOR BUZZFLASH

BuzzFlash just got off the phone with Greg Palast who wanted to make sure that BuzzFlash got his latest -- and perhaps most droll -- piece posted first (in addition to his site). In it Greg offers his irreverent reflections on THE Mosque controversy (it's really a community center, by the way).

Separation of Church and Hate:
The Kate Mosque Solution

Since everyone seems to have an opinion about the mosque near Ground Zero (and President Obama has two), I'd like to ask you all a couple of questions:

Given that white Christian supremacist Tim McVeigh bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building, shouldn't we ban white churches from Oklahoma?

As New York City's indigenous Lanape Natives died at Ground Zero by the thousands when overrun by Christian colonists, shouldn't we ban Christian churches from their sacred ground?

If a mosque near Ground Zero is bad, then why not ban all Muslims from downtown New York? For this to work, should we require all Muslims in the city to wear yellow crescents?

My office was in the WTC towers, which will now be rebuilt with all the upscale shops I remember. So, Mrs. Palin, are you saying it's OK for Muslims to shop at Ground Zero as long as they don't pray there?

The new tower will have the old one's Off-Track Betting windows and bars with after-work "happy hours." So here's a solution to make everyone happy: Why not camouflage the mosque as a place to gamble and get into your secretary's panties?

How about disguising it as a discount fashion shop: Kate Mosque? Or as a Disney retail outlet: Mickey Mosque?

Jamie Kilstein has suggested to me that we ban Burger Kings from Ground Zero in honor of the victims of heart disease. But Jamie, the BKs are memorials to remind us that in the eyes of God, all of us — no matter what religion — are just hamburger meat.

"O. Bin Laden" signed Glenn Beck's petition to ban mosques from Ground Zero. Al Qaeda sure as hell doesn't want Muslims and Christians worshipping in amicable proximity.

Several new Christian churches have been welcomed near Ground Zero ... in Hiroshima.

Am I being too kum-ba-yah by suggesting some of the money raised for the mosque go to building a synagogue in Saudi Arabia, rebuilding the Latin Church in Gaza burnt by Hamas kooks, rebuilding the Babri Masjid mosque burnt down by Hindi fascists, rebuild the Hindi temples destroyed by Sinhalese Buddhists, and for Christ's sake, build a bridge, not a wall, to share, not divide, Al-Aksa and the Dome of the Rock?

WWTJD? (What Would Thomas Jefferson Do?)

My own view? I don't want a mosque near Ground Zero; I want it right on top of Ground Zero, in the new tower, so when we go down again, we all go together.

And one last question:

Why is the Right Wing so upset the President is a Black Muslim foreigner?

After all, the last bunch of Presidents, white Christians all, screwed things up so badly, why not try something different?

Humor: The Best Weapon

Greg:  Bravo!  This kind of ridicule is exactly the response all the wingnuts -- from Newt Gingrich to Sarah Palin -- deserve for their transparent sophistry.  I especially like your observation on Tim McVeigh.  Keep up the great work!

Since the GOP was in charge, add in their campaign headquarters

"My own view? I don't want a mosque near Ground Zero; I want it right on top of Ground Zero, in the new tower, so when we go down again, we all go together."

That's why I want the new tower basement level apartments to go to Dubya/dick, so "when we go down again", those two international terrorists and war criminals are already down as low as they can go, without the Devil's help.

But instead, dick Cheney built his new house less than one mile (burrowing distance) from CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Want to see it on Googlemaps???

Mosque protesters

Have you noticed those protesting the loudest about the "Ground Zero Mosque" are Republicans who supported George W. Bush?

This is the same George W. Bush whose administration, according to Jane's Intelligence Monthly (hardly a bastion of left wing liberalism), ignored information provided by the Russians (whom were informed by the Pakistanis) as to the location of Osama Bin Laden in March 2001, 6 months before 9/11.  The rationale: the "Get Bin Laden" program was a Clinton one, no need to make it successful.

This is the same George W. Bush whose administration ignored repeated warnings from intelligence agents that individuals on the terrorist watch list were taking flying lessons.  9/11 was not an intelligence failure; it was an administrative one.

Maybe, instead of banning a mosque 2 blocks from ground zero, we should ban Republicans from NYC; any other course of action would besmirch the memory of the 9/11 victims.

It's August.--the media has got to make up some news

I guess this non-news thing is better than sharks and missing blond girls for the media--but not for us...We should do the same thing we have done before--let it fade into the place where non-news, phoney news goes.

mosque thing affects troops lives

Obama is being forced to defend something un-popular, the Republicans and Harry Reid both know that Obama has to respond to national security decisions affecting troops, which this mosque thing does, as we know.  If any Republican is responsive to national security - such as Robert Gates and I can't think of any others off the top of my head but maybe there is 1 or 2 - they are responsible for talking to the idiots in the Republican party, and they must be told that they are responsible for talking to the idiots in the Republican Party now.

Conservatives pretend to be concerned when it "leaks", that Americans claiming to serve their government did something despicable - because if it leaks out that an American did something wrong then that's bad - but Conservatives don't mind practically bragging about how despicable they are like over this mosque thing.

"...the Republicans and

"...the Republicans and Harry Reid both know that Obama has to respond to national security decisions affecting troops, which this mosque thing does, as we know."

As we know? Wrong! As you believe! Delusionally too I might add.

There are zero "national security decisions affecting troops" with the Ground Zero "mosque thing". Unless you are implying that American Muslims are just as dangerous as the terrorists hired by Dubya/dick from Saudi Arabia to commit a Reichstag act of terrorism on 9/11 as a pretext for invading Afghanistan, Iraq, and a few other Middle East countries that have our natural resources buried in their ground.

However, this is a major First Amendment issue. That is why the mosque must be allowed to be built two blocks from Ground Zero.

Without the First Amendment, we do indeed have a "national security decision affecting troops", "as we know"!

F--- You Kevin, I am not

F--- You Kevin, I am not responding to you but for the record.   Go to He--.  How dare you, who do you think you are????  Naderite, you have been up here posting nasty comments against me like you have some personal vendetta and what the f--- is your problem???  You never get that nasty against the Conservatives.  You never get that nasty against the Moderates.  I am up here posting comments about the mosque just because I want to rant I am upset about it.  What is your problem, what is your issue, Big guy, Biiiig Kevin, why you want to take a quote out of context and make it look like I was against the mosque.  What are you, the Republican here?  How would you like it if everyone here starts treating you like that, quoting you out of context to make your position the opposite, just like a Republican, getting all freaked out day after day after day.  I am tired of your sh--.  I am not responding to you politely ever again.  I am not responding to you with any intellectual response, without insulting you, you deserve it, in order to respect myself, I am not responding to you in an intellectual manner anymore and I will not be silent.

This mosque, if it is denied, will get US troops killed, that would not have been killed if the mosque is built.

Preventing this mosque from being built will get US troops killed.

Preventing this mosque from being built will get US troops killed.

Preventing this mosque from being built will get US troops killed.

Obama,

IS responding to national security with regard to this mosque, he does not have the luxury of being able to do the politically convenient thing here, like on gay marriage, because this mosque thing, if prevented from being built by racist Conservatives and Moderates who do not want to appear soft, if this mosque is prevented from being buiot by cowardice and bigotry the it will get US troops killed.
