We, the people of the United States of America, are ready for a principled Speaker of the House
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS

Dear Madame Speaker:
I made my first trip ever to your city about a week ago. San Francisco is an incredibly gorgeous city, and I had a marvelous time.
While riding the 28 MUNI bus down Lombard Street on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, I saw painted on the side of a building words of thanks to you, Speaker of the House. I thought, "Wow! I am in the city where the Speaker of the House is from."
The only other time where that happened is going through Marietta, Georgia in 1995 when Newt was at the helm. My reaction then was much, much different.
When I saw those words along Lombard Street, I started to wonder about the people you represent, and whether you truly do represent their views. Now, yes, sometimes Representatives do reach into their own conscience, often at the risk of not being re-elected.
I confess I did no polls nor asked hundreds of your constituents where they stood on Iraq or impeachment. But signs that I saw and the spirit I observed in San Francisco would have led me to believe they want impeachment and want us out of Iraq.
But the truth is that you aren't just a Representative from San Francisco. You have a higher calling: Speaker of the House. This is an important task.
We have criticized the Republicans when they were in charge of the House that the Speaker's office was partisan, the "majority of the majority." The way Gingrich and Dennis Hastert ran the place diminished the role of the Speaker.
But with the Democrats back in charge, and with the notoriety of the first female Speaker in the history of the United States, there was hope that the high honor of the role could be re-established.
No one figures we would see a return to the days of Henry Clay or even Sam Rayburn, not in this cautious political climate. But a reflection of Tip O'Neill could have been in the cards.
Ms. Pelosi, Madame Speaker, you have a higher responsibility than being House Minority Leader (your previous position) or Representative from San Francisco. You are the Speaker of the House of those who represent us, the people's house, the House of Representatives.
This isn't about your political career or how many seats the Democrats might gain in 2008. You have certain requirements to perform necessary duties beyond the political realm, regardless of party affiliation. And certain an absolute necessity that you rise beyond names such as Gingrich and Hastert.
So when you push to fund Iraq or refuse to place impeachment "on the table," you are going against your constituents. No, not those in San Francisco, but the people of the United States for whom you are the Speaker of their House.
And while you have the prerogative to vote your conscience and go against those wishes, your reasons must be toward a higher principle, such as liberty, freedom, or justice. Clearly, Madame Speaker, your choices don't reflect a higher calling, at least none that we can see.
So we, as your true constituents, ask you Madame Speaker to perform the duties of the Speaker of the House and live up to your Constitutional requirements and, almost as important, not limit yourself to Democratic Party goals. And oh, by the way, you might just find that observing these higher principles and showing high ethical leadership can sharply increase the chances of goals being met and surpassed.
We, the people of the United States of America, are ready for a principled Speaker of the House. Will you be that Speaker?

What are you lamenting about?
The Democrats supported all crime Bush and Cheney asked for, because in this country opposition is negativ and "getting things done" even if it was bad is positive.
Add political correctness and the lack or the ability to speak openly.
Pelosi is a Laola grandma and we saw her holding up the "healing hands" when she started her job.
There are only about 10-15 people in the Congress who should be there the rest are crooks.
Dump Pelosi
Cindy Sheehan has my vote next November. I know of very few people here in San Francisco that still support neo-con Nancy.
Nancy Pelosi
I think Nancy Pelosi has been threatened. The Bush dynasty has connections with all kinds of secret organizations.
Will
Nancy
I posted this on my blog last night and it fits Nancy as well as any of the other spineless alleged Democrats we have representing us (and I use the phrase very lightly). The topic was "how the democrats will lose the Presidency in 2008"
National Democrats are upbeat about their chances in Election 2008, citing George W. Bush’s unpopularity and the weirdness of top Republican presidential candidates bogged down in squabbles over who has the right religious outlook or who is the most hostile to illegal immigrants.
Not "why" as the headline states but "how" because we will. And there are many of the reasons why. We the people are sick and tired of listening to hollow promises from a plastic-faced House Speaker and a Senate Majority Leader who looks like he'll bolt at the first dirty word spoken.
We the people elected a Democratic majority last year to do something about the debacle in the White House and the debacle he has created in Iraqnam. They have done neither. All they have done is sugar coat things. Not one Democratic leader is willing to call a spade a spade and demand that Bush be impeached. They are afraid to upset Fox News and the 30 percent of the population that watches Fox News. They are afraid to yank the funding for the war in Iraqnam because they are afraid to upset Fox News and the 30 percent of Americans who watch that drivel. They are afraid to take a stand on anything for fear of upsetting Fox News and the neanderthals who watch it.
How do the Repignofascists continue to win elections all the time? They do what the base wants them to do. The base wants them to eliminate abortion andthat's what they work for. The base wants them to shove religion (their religion) down the throats of the populace and that's what they do. Their base wants them to meddle in the private life of a brain-dead woman and her husband and that's what they do. Their base wants them to peek in your bedroom and see if there are two people of the same gender in bed and that's what they do. Their base wants them to detain and torture people for no good reason in Guantanamo Bay, and that's what they do.
The list of what their base wants is endless and so is the list of things the Repignofascists do to appease them. It might be revolting to liberals but that's immaterial. They win elections by doing what the base says. Democrats on the other hand tell the base to go F itself but not before sending in the next campaign contribution.
Given the lack of leadership of the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader and given the inability of all Presidential candidates but Dennis Kucinich to speak to what the base wants, we deserve to lose in 2008 and we likely will at this rate.
Time to move to Argentina.
All well and good....but
She can just tell all the other Representatives not to criticize her and they'll obey any command she gives. Worked great so far.
The House of Representative is just one person Xeroxed 435 times, isn't it? Modern streamlining. Leaves more time for campaign donation smiling and dialing.
Democrats are courageous!!
The whole argument that Democrats are spineless is wrong. That is what they want us to believe. They are representing the interests of the wealthy corrupt corporatists against the will of the American people. That shows courage in my book. Next time they want to be elected, the brain dead Americans who keep electing these corrupt morons will swallow the political ads and put them right back in congress. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Ried and their ilk are traitors to their constituency. Next time around, try electing someone who is not wealthy or corrupt. If they happen to have courage, that would be nice too.
