The Next Chapter in Bush's Revisionist History: Himself
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS
While America will get a new Congress this January, it looks like we already have a new president. Ever since George Bush was sworn in six years ago, he has been stubborn, contentious, and above all, divisive. He refused to compromise or even listen to anyone that was not already convinced he was right. Because he was wrong, America suffered.
But after his decisive election defeat last Tuesday, Bush seems to have become a new man overnight. If you watched his press conference two days ago, you would have seen a jovial and unconcerned president who readily admitted defeat for the first time in his life. Bush has expressed his great desire to work bipartisanly to achieve good results. "I'm open to any idea or suggestion that will help us achieve our goals of defeating the terrorists and ensuring that Iraq's democratic government succeeds," he said before meeting with soon-to-be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Perhaps this is the latest Karl Rove strategy for damage control, and Bush is just as arrogant as ever with no plans to work together. Another possibility is that Bush was born again. . . again. Maybe he really got a wakeup call and realized that his presidency has been a miserable failure up until now, and even daddy can't bail him out of this one. Maybe Bush has finally learned what it takes to be president.
But no matter the explanation for Bush's sudden personality change, it is too little, too late. Bush is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and there is no excuse for it taking all this time for him to learn to read the writing on the wall. Make no mistake: this is the same man.
The most obvious sign of Bush's flip-flopping is his firing of Donald Rumsfeld. Bush adamantly insisted as recently as last week that Rummy would not be replaced, but he admitted Wednesday that he had already made the decision a long time ago. His revisionist history of Iraq has been even worse. Despite what he wants us to remember, the vast majority of people and government organizations in America and around the world not only thought Saddam was not a substantial threat, we foresaw the very problems Iraq is now experiencing.
With a landslide consensus that Bush's first six years were disastrous and the assurance that he will be a lame duck for the last two, Bush is desperately trying to redefine his legacy. He wanted to be remembered as a wartime president who brought religion and conservatism back to America, but he will settle for being a moderate mediator and statesman at this point. We would certainly prefer that he endorses and authorizes the new Democratic agenda, but we will absolutely not allow him to avoid accountability for his actions. We must not let Bush revise his own history.

'Nuff said. Impeachment NOW!
Impeachment? No!
Bush II did the same kind of thing that Bush I did - he chose as vice someone who would be completely unacceptable as POTUS. Remember that the line of succession was established when it was just as likely that the Prez and Vice would be from separate parties. Like the Electoral College, it's one of those constitutional flaws that has been overtaken by events. Look in the mirror and say "President Cheney" ten times. Betcha can't do it.
The Dems won't gain anything by avenging Clinton's impeachment. They will only look ugly and vengeful by trying to mimic the pathetic performance of the Repugs in the last decade. The task in front of the Dems, first and foremost, is to force the Administration to be the element of governance that thay are supposed to be and carry out the will of Congress.
He's got a lot of revising to do; a lot of embarassment to erase

I don't think.....
.....Bush's bipartisanship is anything more than a sham to push through as much as he can in the lame duck session of Congress.
Henry Waxman said he does not know what to investigate first. No matter what he decides, he will uncover evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors. I agree that we will run out of time before Bush could be convicted in the Senate, but should Bush be able to whitewash his legacy? I think not. Impeaching him preserves his true character for history.

Impeachment
After what happened to Bill Clinton, I do not want to see impeachment ever used again by either party unless there is a verified, clear majority of Americas who want it, which poll after poll indicated was not the case with Clinton's impeachment.
Impeachment and trial by the senate is, after all, only a way to remove a president from office so that he can be indicted for serious crimes against the constitution and the people and/or international crimes.
Hearings and oversight will begin. I have no doubt. But there is a problem of time, when it comes to impeachment. The White House will fight tooth and nail over every shred of paper the Dems ask for or subpoena, all the way to the SCOTUS.
Nevertheless, congressional hearings do manage to put damning evidence into the record; evidence which can be used to indict when Bush leaves office. Same for Cheney. In a perfect world, Bush and Cheney will be arrested at noon on inauguration day, 2009. Should that happen, America will be well on the path to redemption and away from empire.
Aren't there whistle-blowers out there just waiting for a subpoena, so they can tell congress what they know and not be imprisoned? From what I have heard and read, there are so many of them they have started their own support group.
It is up to us to build a movement for accountability. I don't care how justice comes, just as long as it does, for the sake of the country.
As Rummy would say, we are in for a "long hard slog", but at least there is some light now.
Revise His Own History?
He can revise to his heart's content but it won't do him a big of good. After all he's committed crimes against humanity for which he's to be tried at the International Court of Criminal Justice, compliments of the American people. Oh, and unlike the kangaroo trial of Saddam Hussein, his trial is going to be open to the public.
As to his being open to any idea or suggestion on how to defeat the terrorists and preserve democracy in Iraq, what immediately comes to mind, if for once he's leveling with us, is that he bring our troops home now and at the same time return Iraq to the Iraqis. The troop withdrawal defeats terrorism by attacking it on the demand side, because take away the struggle for freedom and independence and what's to die for? As for preserving democracy in Iraq? Come on, Mr. President. Haven't you gathered yet that you can't force-feed democracy to the Iraqi people? It's for them to decide.
Here's what happened
There was too much oversight this time around. Too many eyes. Too many blogs. Too many WTF's? Too many to fool with the same old E-voting fraud "one more time".
So, bush makes the "deal". I'll play nice and give you "stem-cells" and such, but you keep your promise to keep me out of jail.
But anyone that has followed bush knows this - the first chance he gets he'll have someone else(because he's too much of a coward to do it himself)stab you in the back. Slit your throat, skin you, turn you inside-out, chop you into pieces, strip the meat from your bones and place the knife in what's left of your bony hand so as to be able to call it a suicide.
But!
Already, today MSNBC's poll has 87% wanting impeachment. 87%!!!
And this is BEFORE any investigations begin. Wait till people see what's been done with their money and their name. The public out-cry will be so loud any so-called "promise" is out.
Here's the scary part.
bush - if he feels threatened could with the help of daddy's CIA, NSA, MIC "black-ops" pals conjures-up another "false flag" 9/11 - or, one of our ships gets sunk off the Iran coast and it's "bombs away" ...
God, I hope I'm wrong and this psychopathic prick and all those connected with him finally "get theirs".
Think canine.
How does Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer, instantly turn aggressive dogs with serious problems into submissive creatures? He lets them know who's boss. Bush can't pretend to be boss any more. He's on a short leash. Before, even tho it was no more true than it is today, he could *pretend* to speak for 'murcans. He no longer has that cover story. The voters bitch-slapped him.
bush
Rummy was the first tossed over the side.
Mehlman was next.
Neither will admit it, of course. They have very, very, lucrative careers ahead of them in some GOP corporate hidey-hole if they keep what they know to themselves and stay loyal to Bush.
But Bush stay loyal back? HA! One by one they will all go over the side before he'll ever take responsibility for what he has wrought.
Bush reminds me of Slobedon Milosivec standing on trail in the Hague, completely defiant and unrepentent. Like Milosivec, Bush's sense of ego and entitlement prohibits him from ever acknowledging that he actually didn't have the right to cause the unnecessary deaths of so many innocent people.
When Bush, or any of his personality cultists or neo-con fetishists think of the Iraqi children who have died horrible deaths because of him, does anyone think he ever, for a moment, wonders about those kids? Or if he had the right to do what he did? Does he think those kids are just as entitled to Life as the embryonic stem cells he so reveres? Or his daughters?
The answer is no, of course.
You can dress Bush in an Armani suit, put him in hand-made Italian shoes, buy him a prestigious position, surround him with daddy's henchmen and the family consigliere - and he'll still be a murdering psychopath.
And if you think he's dangerous, think about the men behind the scenes, who knowingly and willingly put him there and keep him there. What else are they willing to do?
A changed Bush
But I noticed in his speech on Wed. that he claimed he "knew" that Americans wanted victory in Iraq, and that's what he was pursuing. This does not sound like a changed Bush to me!

Not too pleased that the dems want to be so peaceful. I did not vote for them to be peaceful, I voted for them to impeach.
No I don't think so...
Let me start out by saying that I dislike Dubya in the extreme. But impeachment, well that would be one of the worst things the Dems could do from the standpoint of them maintaining their political base long term. Oversight committees, investigations oh yes we need them by the handfuls, but the real focus of the Democratic party needs to be to secure the fed up voters who have brought them into the majority. The best way they can do this is to make real progress addressing the issues that caused so many people to vote for them in the last election. And every time they make headway in this task they need to shout it loud and clear such that the MSM cannot ignore it.
A couple of other negative aspects to the Dems trying to impeach Duyba would be that for one the MSM would jump on this and it would surely overshadow any efforts or successes made by the Dems. At the same time the Repugs and their talking heads would be preaching over and over how they were right, all the Dems can do is fight partisan battles, and how they're not really interested in making a difference. This would alienate many of the voters who crossed the fence during the last election.
Given that the Iraq occupation has been identified as one of the top issues people are upset with, the best thing the Dems could do would be to figure out some way to at least get a handle on it. I have no idea what that would be, it's a crapmire for sure. But if they could show the voters a workable plan that would not only get our solders out of harms way, but also make progress in stabilizing the region and put that plan into effect, I think the voters would roll out the red carpet right up to the White House door in 08.
Try that on the real world.
Yeah, here on the net, we're that well-informed, but if the Dems started off with Impeachment it would come out of the blue to most Americans. Just chill out and let them take office first before you begin whining. All they have to do is START oversight --- it will take a LONG time to dig out all the dirt. There are no quick fixes. Get real.
