Pat Buchanan has accomplished nothing in his entire life.  His only 'claim to fame' is that he worked for Richard Nixon.  He has never been elected to anything, and never written or said anything intelligent in his entire life.  In one of his books, he said FDR screwed up by getting into World War II too early--we should have let Hitler kill even more Russians first, since they were communists, and killing communists is good.  'The only good commie is one that's dead.'  He is also one of the most bigoted people on the face of the earth.  He is paid to spout his racism, and that is what he does well.

Pat Buchanan always has something despicable to say on MSNBC. When he comes on I mute the TV and wait for him to be finished.

Nothing he says has any meaning in my life so why listen to him?

I don't care if the people on the Supreme Court have two heads as long as they do the right thing!

I also don't think they should be allowed to have a seat forever!

Most of the right are hateful, fear mongering, racists so what do you expect from Pat Buchanan?

First, the poor old dolt knows perfectly well that little more than a century ago, plenty of white Protestants (including my Scots-Irish grandparents) didn't consider Irish Catholics exactly white, let alone Christians.

On the other hand, we lefties have always justly demanded that our SCOTUS should look more like America, that is, not all-white and purely male. Our position makes the matter of a majority-Protestant country's high court being populated entirely by Catholics and Jews a topic worthy of discussion.

The more important issue might be that religion should not be an important consideration, but with abortion being front and center, it surely is. And speaking only for myself, I would be enraged by the nomination of, say, a Scientologist or a creationist.

Pat Buchanan is a Catholic.  Once Kagan is confirmed there will be 6 Catholics and 3 Jews on the Supreme Court and for the first time in the country's history no Protestants.  It certainly is an unusual situation but Catholics make up only about 28% of the population and are thus also overrepresented on the court.  But Buchanan is all about inflaming inter-racial and inter-ethnic tensions.  That is how the hatemongers maintain their allure.

To compare Mr. Buchanan to Joseph Goebbels is reprehesible.  Loath the right wing as much I do, I still find this totally uncalled for as vicious, spiteful, and hateful...  You owe Mr. Buchanan an apology.

For me, it totally and completely defines who we are as Americans.

He said, "While I may disagree with what you have to say, I will fight to the death to protect your right to say it."

YOU would not defend to the death Mr. Buchanan's Frist Amendment right to free speach.  Ergo, you are NOT a "True American."
