Sarah Palin couldn't even dress herself her opinion on healthcare is so biased especially since she crossed over into Canada to receive the type of healthcare that this administration is trying to get for the American people in general. If you think that denying the people in this country health care coverage is showing that you are capable of running this country you are sadly mistaken!  This bill needs passing and like yesterday. 

There is a myth circulating that Palin is a healthcare hypocrite because she or her family  allegedly received free healthcare from the Canadian system. Here is Palin's quote from the Calgary speech 

"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," .. "And I think now, isn't that ironic?" 

Nothing there about getting FREE healthcare from a socialized universal healthcare system.   Remember Palin's family were not Canadian citizens.  Healthcare in Canada while free , is only available to Canadian citizens who qualify .  Currently , even CDN citizen have to reside in country for 90 days before the become eligible to receive a healthcare card.  Canadian clinics and hospitals  require ID when people show up needing care.  They do NOT have signs posted saying "Americans don't have to pay." In fact, non Canadian citizens are required to pay for services . To suppose that Canadian health care services were so loosely run as to allow a foreigner to get a free ride is an insult to the country and to their system. 

Also at the time this incident may have happened , Palin was no more than 6 years old.  it was the late 1960's . Canada did not have a fully implemented system of socialized medicine.  The present Canadian system gradually evolved with the most radical changes occurring in the 1970's and 1980's.  A recent article in The National Post -" Kevin Libin: Sarah Palin knows her Canadian health care history" , explains the history of Canadian healthcare  more fully. This Canadian paper also disputes the assumption that Palin's family received healthcare without free of charge.  They conclude that like most outsiders , the Palin family would have had to pay for the services they received.  Sorry to burst the bubble but this myth that once upon a time Palin's family received free health care from Canada , is a much of a myth and fairy tale as the belief that the President was born outside the US.   People who continue to believe this myth run the risk descending to the same level as the babbling irrelvant "birthers".  Fight Ignorance - drop this myth

I am most curious to know if Palin's family paid for the health care they received. We have a problem in my province of British Columbia with American tourists getting sick or injured, getting fixed up through our health care system and then buggering off without paying their bills. Health care isn't really free for Canadians as we have to pay for it through our taxes. It sure as hell shouldn't be free for visitors.
