Top 5 Reasons to Spread Turn Off Fox
BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT
by Jeffrey Joseph
Any seasoned BuzzFlash reader, or even a BuzzFlash neophyte, knows that Fox news stands as an enemy to journalistic integrity and reason. The claims made on their shows border on slanderous and often openly hateful. They flagrantly manipulate data on their programs.
Of course, you knew all that already. Many of you have gone ahead to take the Turn Off FOX pledge.
To show just how critical it is for you to help us, we made a brief list of reasons for joining the Campaign to Turn Off FOX that you can use to get others to sign the pledge:
1. Fox reaches over 2 million people at a time. We need to reduce those numbers and their ratings.
Reasonable people may know the perils of Fox News, but when Fox has the chance to dominate the conversation, cynicism may not be enough.
2. You can't be everywhere at once, but Fox can be on every TV, so we will need help getting those televisions in public places that show Fox turned off.
Again, Fox has a lot of market penetration including a startling amount of public areas. It may not take much, but the responsibility to ask businesses to switch channels falls on us all.
3. People are more likely to continue the campaign and follow through if they have the help and support of their friends and family.
Fox News hosts use intimidation and shouting matches to stifle the opposition. You could offer a great means of combating that fear by showing those you care about that all of you belong to a greater community of dissenters against Fox's agenda.
4. Fox will not notice one or two TVs, but they will notice thousands turned offf, and so will their advertisers. Every screen counts.
Even when Fox News refuses to allow vocal opposition, they suffer economically when advertisers pull their adds due to outrageous claims by hosts like Glenn Beck.
5. It's more fun to Turn Off Fox together.
