Tell President Obama what you think: Where in the world should Air Force One touch down next?

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT

The President flew to Denver today, and he’s off to Phoenix after that. He already visited Elkhart, Indiana and Fort Myers, Florida, and plans to make Canada his first stop on foreign soil.

President Obama’s spokespersons* have said he hopes to get out of Washington, D.C., every week or so to connect with Americans and see for himself what’s happening outside the insular capital city.

How about we tell the President and his staffers where else we’d like to see him touch down? Do you know a place or people that could help keep the President grounded in reality or show him the facts on the ground he needs to make good decisions?  Any thoughts on symbolic settings or groups that can reinforce a point he is trying to make or help him solidify support?

Where else should the President go and why?

*[Senior Advisor David Axelrod:
"... it’s important to keep in touch with the world outside. ... the President really wanted to. And ... his greatest concern is that he not lose touch with people. ... we're going to be going out of town once a week or so, just to keep in touch with the American people."]

Bring a Guantonamo inmate to the white house or DisneyLand.

In many ways I respect these guys. They are fighting for what they believe. Bush was a perceived threat to their religion's existence. The last administration made statements and enacted policies that could not be misunderstood. We stationed troops in Saudi Arabia. The Bush people perpetrated a holy war against their people and traditions, most likely as a cover for oil riches. Their views of us are completely warped and they are hardened with resentment. Send them home, they have suffered enough. Maybe this President could recruit them to go home and send a message that we are not the threat they think we are. Unless,of course, we really are a threat to them.

Next stop should be

Havana, to inform Raul Castro that we're evacuating the base at Guantanmo and freeing those illegally imprisoned, also that the embargo has been lifted, and that we want to establish normal relations with Cuba once again.

Where to Next?

How about back to Andrews for an aircraft change to a G-5 (or similar) for domestic travel. It costs a lot less to operate than the 742. President Clinton used smaller, less expensive aircraft on many occasions, if memory serves correctly.

Where should President OBAMA touch down on Air Force next

Last night I was watching a documentary on PBS. The name of a movie called Slumdog. This is a real story and it takes place in an area of India. There is 1.5 million people who live on 1 square mile of land. The garbage , the sewage, and waste. The people live in make shift houses of cardboard. It has become a tourism site for people wanting to see the poverty people live in. The children live in squalor and filth. Why can their government not build subsidized housing or do they have that? i ask a lot of questions. How is their country helping their people. Why can the country hire developers to build a communities for the peole at a low income rate. Why is it that we have NATO. They all want a piece of the pie. Our president must go there and see this. It is inbelievable. Let us all not forget others in our time of need. kekeely45

Where should Pres Obama go next?

I'd like to see him visit Oregon - talk publicly with the Governor about projects in the works for use of alternative energy, public transportation, conservation, employment, etc. I'd like the focus of some trips to be teaching moments for other states who would like to get busy creating the necessary changes, but who aren't quite sure what to do. We need that sharing of "what's working and working well" and "what we will do next" -- Exploring the successes will get us all up to speed.

where should he go.....next?

to pick up bush, cheney, and rummy and take them too the hague....we are now in violation of several treaties regarding prosecution of war criminals...justice delayed is absent.....if we call ourselves a nation of laws and we break them what do we so with the next new nazi or totalitarian dictator we capture....put him on the payroll as we have in the past....60% of americans demand that the injustices of the bush administration be investigated and we clearly don't have the nerve to do it...a commission is a waste of taxpayers money we need to clean up bush's mess....and they made a stink about how clinton left the white house....obama promised change and i don['t care who objects right/center/left this is essential to our worn out credibility to the world and baby with the way the world is now we need all we can get.....let rush loudmouth complain we can just send that junkie a few whatever med he's hooked on now....but we must law and order without justice is fascism..lp
