Barack Obama's Vote Total Nearly Beats All the GOP Candidates Combined

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT

Perhaps the most significant aspect of Obama's win in Iowa ...

[Updated]

... is that the number of votes Obama won there is equal to 84% of the votes won by all of the Republican candidates combined. This being accomplished at all (let alone in a state which is 98% white) suggests that GOP complicity in the Bush assault on basic human values and decency over the past 8 years has virtually undone his party's huge gains since the Reagan Administration.

Furthermore, if one factors in Edwards' 29.8% of the 239,000 Democratic turnout (71,222), between Obama and Edwards alone, two of the most progressive candidates in this race, the number of their combined votes (161,803) is 150% that of the entire turnout for the Republicans (112,000).

Has new day indeed dawned in America?

Two parties, one costume.

OBAMA! -Believe-

"What does this mean?" It means, we as Democrats, particularly with Barack as our presidential candidate, are positioned to reset the Franklin Roosevelt coalition for a generation or more, and right our floundering ship of state.

Tell me what does it mean? This is one state and I believe that people like to be noticed and show up for the circus event made of the Iowa caucuses by the news media.
I just wonder how many voters will show up when they see their candidate on the losing end of the voting.
The primary election should be held at the same date for all states 'period'.
There is to much discontent within the democratic voters. This will have a bearing to determind if they will show up to vote in the general election,, even if they do for the primary.

Oh come on, while the Roman empire collapsed from within, it took several hundred years to do so. Bush and his misguided policy's have destroyed the Republican party in a mere seven years. People in this country are desperate for change, and will show up in droves on election day. You sound like a neocon freeper to me.
